Looks like mad toys can stand aside now.

Even if Bandai can trump it, it'll be hard to hate on the Madtoys one, ... cause they did such a damn good job - i don't think that'll be diminished by an even better version.

But still, it was a lot of money lol :o

Is a big question mark whether bandai follow voltron colour scheme at all as they may just do it as golion as a classic.

Mad toys one is hard to beat in terms of metal and features.
And this includes version one or two either way.

Price wise, it's going to be like ggg I believe

What colour change you mean exactly? They'll probably do all of them anyway. From memory, the only thing that changes colour a lot (between toys, show, art etc) is Voltron's face

I am curious in size and weight, bandai went with chrome obviously to be different from madtoys.

The individual lions legs look the same

Mad toys one is likely dead imo given its unlikely WEP would give two companies license to make an official product around the same time and compete with each other, esp when one is a known power house in mecha toys biz and the other well while decent only made 1 toy

WEP owns Voltron, but not Golion (I'm pretty sure). SOC market is Japan so these are not directly competing toys.

Being honest I'm a bit disappointed. I was hoping for a Legendary Defender SOC. I Love the lion design from that show.

But you noticed they are marketing it as Voltron as well, and on the tease it shows it is a WEP collaboration at least from a licenses stand point

And the main point also is given reveal is SDCC we know the market they are going for this time is not Jp only

Was just a figure of speech nothing personal.

My concern now is I believe bandai may have paid and ensured license was to them over madtoys. Else madtoys wouldn't take so long?

And bandai bring sdcc this says it all , is voltron wep approved otherwise they get sued.

Note too early to say which is better.

If they are still pushing ahead and not flopped already, Madtoys could always shift and make the modern Netflix Voltron instead if they can get the license for that, oppose to going head on against the chogokin line

I for one would be interested in the Netflix Voltron as well

I suspect it will definitely be better than Toonami version.

I also would like a Legendart Defender Voltron. Although I have seen images flying around the net of one that looks similar. It was briefly discussed in one of the other Voltron threads as being like $300 bucks for a plastic toy.

Iirc, it most commonly posed in a sweet crouch pose (which I don't think I've ever seen Volty do :p )

Retail price, that isn't too bad... around the same price as KoB was, will be cheaper once the preorder discounts hit.

But... it's not quite perfect is it? It looks good, don't get me wrong but... no lion numbers, missing tech details on the blue lion's head (i actually liked that part the most on the old Toynami!)... black lion is too chunky again... Voltron himself is pretty boxy around the waist and bulbous thighs, maybe a little too cartoon accurate.

Having said all that, i still want it, so it must be doing something right :)

Might be canned. Been told no ETA for mad toys.

Mainly bandai one is Definately licensed as they have the money to do it, also broke all theories about bandai not going to get this made.

Mad toys imo looks better proportion . But no point for me to get one since I wanted a bandai one ages ago.

It's crazy, on the product page for GX-71 - http://tamashii.jp/item/11469/?lmode=en - it says the original Chogokin Voltron (at 9800Y) sold over 430000 units!

Re: licensing...I wonder if this is the ONLY Voltron that'll actually get released? I Just think WEP probably invited Toynami, Mad Toys and Bandai to see what they could do without promising anything. I guess Toynami's is likely to release though, considering they have that black exclusive one.

Maybe WEP finally realised they could give the license to all of them and make even more money...

Good points kurt about it being screen accurate. I guess it was just being adjusted to mad toys voltron I was expecting the same.

Godsigma has not been reissued whereas godmas deltanius had.
They are missing a lot of potential soc as gurren Leggan would easily be a seller which I bought the konami one as I didn't bother to wait. Guardian is missed, and s lot of sentai combining are missed

I do prefer the blue lion on this one as it pops. High chance of me displaying it as individual lions.

Shows the diecast content - the announcer says it's heavy, but it doesn't look like it has as much as KoB. It looks like the connections will be pretty solid. Yellow and Blue Lion appear to have midsection joints, which should be good for posing Voltron - they also have fold out heelspurs for more balance. Lion heads look to have much more movement too

Playmates license for legendary defender... That doesn't fill me with confidence, he says as he looks over his half painted Ninja Turtles toys from playmates.
I have my official Vehicle VOltron thanks. Don't want to double up on too many of these pricey buggers.

I like the butler. ALthough he is a BIT over the top. I think Lance provides a decent amount of comic relief, but I'm glad he's there. The butler is voiced by Rhys Darby (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhys_Darby), from Flight of the Conchords.

Matt alt is a well known vintage Japanese toy collector, my brother knows him well. Unfortunately he is paid not to bash the toy. So it is a bias review.

One thing was the hand lions tails are recommended to be removed.

Maybe if it was $50...
