This question is about Amazon JP.

I know that Amazon JP is now shipping more items internationally. You can order video games from Amazon JP now accourding to people I know in the video game industry. Do we know if Amazon JP is shipping toys internationally yet? I'd consider them as an alternative to HLJ if they do ship internationally.

They do.

At least they're shipping lots of figurines, so possibly toys as well.

Well that's interesting.
Looks like Amazon Japan have finally set up their Global Shipping Option to start include toys.
And they have some items already on the list that I want.

The toys section as well:

http://www.amazon.co.jp/s/ref=sr_nr_n_0?fst=as%3Aoff&rh=n%3A13299531%2Ck%3Atransformers%2Cp_n_shipping_ option-bin%3A2493950051&keywords=transformers&ie=UTF8&qid=1463346090&rnid=2321267051

Once you create an account it takes a bit of fiddling to figure out how to set it back to english, but after that you only need to look for " AmazonGlobal Eligible" in the search results.

(I created a new topic for Amazon Japan, from the main American Amazon topic)

I finally got to using Amazon Japan to buy some toys, after I noticed that they had added the recent Headmasters (Titans Return) & Masterpiece preorders, with most of them now being available for international shipping (to Australia). Something I hope they do with all of their future Transformers, as a back up option or to buy months later when discounted (if still in stock).

This is the link I bookmark and use (https://www.amazon.co.jp/s/ref=sr_nr_p_n_shipping_option-_0?fst=as%3Aoff&rh=n%3A13299531%2Cn%3A%2113299571%2Cn%3A%211329965 1%2Cn%3A%21404944011%2Cn%3A15740471%2Ck%3A%E3%83%8 8%E3%83%A9%E3%83%B3%E3%82%B9%E3%83%95%E3%82%A9%E3% 83%BC%E3%83%9E%E3%83%BC%2Cp_n_shipping_option-bin%3A2493950051&bbn=15740471&sort=date-desc-rank&keywords=%E3%83%88%E3%83%A9%E3%83%B3%E3%82%B9%E3%8 3%95%E3%82%A9%E3%83%BC%E3%83%9E%E3%83%BC&ie=UTF8&qid=1471346756&rnid=2493949051) for Transformers toys, and I check to make sure the "AmazonGlobal Eligible" box is ticked on the left hand side options listing. It should be sorted by release date, but if it doesn't, just select that option from the top right.

Their prices aren't very competitive (like most of the items on the American Amazon site, as it ends up paying for the free shipping to most domestic customers), but scrolling through the list of Transformers toys available to international customers, there are a few odd discounted old items that might appeal to some people.
Like, I bought several items that were all a year or two old, but were 30-50% off, so made it worthwhile getting, even at the current exchange rate.

The one big thing that you need to know about Amazon Japan (if you haven't ever used that site before for the various Transformers guide books or other items), is that they use DHL as their international carrier, NOT the postal service... so you need to have a home address selected for delivery, or you might end up getting a phone call from the nearest DHL depot to your location asking for your home address, which will delay its delivery. As such, you will need to be at home or get it sent somewhere you will be at every day, to receive it... they have been known to sometimes drop off items at a post office if you list a PO Box, but most of the time they will refuse to do it, or just can't if they need a signature.
Since it is a courier, it is more expensive than the postal service, and a lot faster... so if speed isn't important, this isn't a good option to use until such time that they have cheaper options or the regular mail service.

The eight items I got last week (which only took the weekend to get here - it was shipped on Friday the 12th and arrived at my house Monday the 16th), were the last two retail Q-Transformers toys I was missing, some redeco Adventure/RID toys, and the nanoblock Bumblebee (micro sized lego styled blocks).
The total cost for this was AU$177, with AU$55 of that being shipping (so just AU$122 for all eight items). At their regular retail cost, these would have added up to about AU$170 before shipping, so I'm happy with the total price I paid... but would be even happier with a cheaper shipping option, as it wasn't a big box.

Next time I might have a look at ordering from non-Amazon sellers who ship internationally, like the American Amazon has... and see how that goes.

The headmasters have been pretty popular and going up in price soon after release, across the board here. Normally Amazon JP is maybe a few dollars more expensive overall than other domestic stores (most of which charge shipping fee), so Amazon's free domestic shipping is pretty much a farce unless you're buying lots. Aside from that, they recently put in place a 2000Y threshold you have to reach for free domestic shipping too, they say so they can enable the shipping of too small items for free. Which is bullshit, cause they were doing it for years before!

I found nothing but overpriced toys on there. But I did find some pics for new redecos of Tomica white hope robot in black with battling gun arms and the blue variant is up at hlj.
Would not have seen this week if not for this thread and browsing amazing Japan so thank you for posting.

I received my Computron this week (and mistakenly ordered a second one from HLJ). The price for Amazon.jp was substantially lower (computron had been discounted) but the packaging was pretty poor. Guess they're using the same cost-cutting methods as their US brethren.

You do know he's a gun right? Customs stole/confiscated the previous Megatron, and unless you had a replica weapons permit license would not return it. Even WITH that permit they didn't release it until the day BEFORE they had to front to a magistrate.

It's much safer buying it online from an Australian retailer like PC who ARE in Queensland and can import it hassle free

Even though Amazon Japan stopped selling to Australian addresses after the GST changes a couple years ago (and still don't sell to us, despite Amazon America altering their systems to sell us again), I've just noticed that the Amazon Japan site won't show items that they themselves can't ship to your country (based on your IP location if you aren't logged in). So I had to enter in a Japanese postal address (100-0400 Tokyo) to let me do a search, just to see what future items are listed, so that I can do up one of the toy listings.

After seeing actual fulfilment of Amazon JP via AU, I went to the Amazon.co.jp site to see if we can again buy from the JP site. I was able to go through checkout using my Perth address but chose not to add any payment method. So it looks like we can buy directly from Amazon JP again. Has anyone actually received anything recently from Amazon JP?

Yes, I've brought the DX figures of the new robot from from the most recent Super Sentai series and some art books over two transactions. There were some issues with payment being declined but after canceling the second order and reordering with a newly and extremely exactly(no abbreviated street type and Middle Initial on the card) entered address and card details it worked fine.

Oh, just noticed this too in product description “ Set Contents: Optimus Primal unit (1), Cyber blade A (1), Cyber blade B (1), Missiles (2), Instruction manual (1), Bonus item (1).”

It must be the bonus item.

griffin
24th June 2023, 08:45 AM
The red cheetor is a bonus item that is going out free with three different items in Japan next month (the big expensive toys - Ultimate Optimus Primal, Beast Mode Optimus, Beast Mode Bumblebee), but I don't recall it being exclusive to anywhere (they might all be shipped from TakaraTomy to each of the stores with the bonus toy).

I take it that you were able to pre-order it without any problems to have it shipped to Australia?
I guess if there are, you won't find out until it is released on July 15th.

Even though Hasbro is releasing that toy in America as a JP import item (like the MPs), and probably will be here too, I am tempted to try ordering from Amazon JP myself, just to make sure that I get the bonus cheetor... as those sorts of limited edition freebie things are really difficult and/or expensive to find later.

I decided to place an order for it, just to see how it goes, and it is the easiest way to get the bonus Cheetor.
The estimated cost at the current exchange rate was about AU$115 with shipping.
I couldn't remember if they were the one that refuses to ship to PO Boxes, so I took the safe option of selecting the home address, and hoping that it doesn't get left out the front and get stolen.

I did notice though, the listing gives you two options - one with the Cheetor and one without the Cheetor, with a price difference of about au$15.
It is noted as a "bonus" item, but they are charging extra for it. I'm not sure about that, and I thought that they were all being released with the Cbeetor toy, not just some of them.

The details are light but the page count is the same as the last Deluxe version, so apart from the new name on the cover the contents would mostly likely be all the same.

I was hoping that this years Generations book would show up on HLJ so that I could ship it with last month's Trainbot.
At least it is available to purchase from somewhere.
And good news for those who still don't have the original Generations book... or need a new copy after wearing out the original.
I just had a look at the listings and gee they are expensive. $43 for the 2023 book and $51 for the reprint. I guess if you take into account shipping from Japan, it makes it a little easier to accept... and limited options means it is probably the cheapest option.

And, Amazon JP finally processed and shipped my Ultimate Primal with red Cheetor.

I was hoping to get it to ship with a Trainbot, but if it comes out at the end of August it might be too late... and it will cost more than the Amazon JP one. HLJ has it for about au$42, which is almost the same as the Amazon JP listing, but HLJ will charge GST and shipping. If you are a prime member, the Amazon one shouldn't cost anything extra.

I will order the Amazon one, and just risk it getting posted to my house. For some reason they won't ship to my PO Box for this item, but would let me use it for the Ultimate Primal toy.
