Im not really sure how TF Asia chooses its release (like MPSW to China only) but it would definitely circulate around asia and to all of us anyway.

Hasbro goes toy accuracy. Can paint them red if it's that big an issue, or track down a Takara release. Or like me get both :p

Even with the yellow visor, Hasbro Soundwave is appealing to those who missed out on TT Soundwave and also don't want to pay the exorbitant prices for the extra cassettes.

Although prices have improved for MP-15, back in the day I ended up turning to the dark side for MP-15, my first and only time.

We are only speculate that they aimed at g1toy accurate which is proven to be false lately by looking at their mp bumble bee. I think it was just smacked in to differentiate from Takara.

No it doesn't bug me but I think it's still bad choice. Should have a change colour thingy like grimlock and everyone will be happy. :)

As 1AZRAEL1 mentioned before, the yellow visor is toy-accurate, and the toy came first so it's actually more G1 accurate than the red visor. Soundwave also had a yellow visor in all other media other than the cartoon - comics, Ladybird Books, Big Looker Books etc. :)

Back in the day even at the full RRP of $150, for a set like this with all the cassettes was just insane value. To this day I still consider it be one of the best Transformers bargains of all time.:D

Frenzy (Hasbro never bothered to switch the names, which I think they should've). And the difference is subtle*. The Hasbro version has a slightly brighter shade of blue/purple and the detailing on the chest is silver paint instead of chrome. Otherwise they're really quite similar.

If I am a real picky on this one, the TT one looks better but for what they cost, the combo set would be my pick, you can buy red eyes and have soundwave looking like proper G1 not G1 toy.

From pics provided by goki , you can see TT version looks sharper in contrast even with darker shade.

For those of you want the red eyes mod, nonnef productions are selling them at Masterforce website for their international customers.

They also make mp-10 blue eyes which is my biggest complaint about the TT version.

Aftermarket prices for MPs suck, but that sounds about right. $200 isn't bad - that's how much I paid for my TakaraTOMY ones. But $300 is double the original RRP which is about right for an aftermarket MP price. I've only ever purchased an MP off the aftermarket once, and that was Red Alert for $100, which is double what I would've paid if I'd pre-ordered him. So yeah, paying $100 for MP Alert was the equivalent of paying $300 for an MP Hasbro Soundwave. And they're reissuing Red Alert (albeit in variant colours), but I didn't know at the time. :o That'll learns me for not following my own rule on getting toys early!

I did cut a bit but it has no effect to the face of the head. They glued one of the plastic pegs but not difficult with a sharp blade.
