Looks like they got the image from the TakaraTomyMall mainpage (http://takaratomymall.jp/shop/), in the scrolling section at the top, with the image file (http://takaratomymall.jp/img/usr/banner/bnr_tfuwex_baldigus.jpg) giving away the name - bnr_tfuwex_baldigus

I did want a Baldigus back in the day when I was collecting RID/CR but now I'm not so sure. Has Ruination shown up in IDW? That might make it a buy as I'm still trying to get as close as I can to IDW complete.

They reversed the arms on Shuttler/Movor so UW Blast Off's back is now the chest to make him more screen accurate to RID/CR which makes him look much better IMO. Comes with recolours of CW Computron's hands and feet. I'm deff picking this one up.

The bad guys in RID were Predacons, then they found some unformatted Autobots and turned them into Decepticons. Those Decepticons are the 5 that make up Ruination/Baldigus plus Scourge/Black Convoy.

Ruination in the TV show is the most toy accurate animation model of the Bruticus set. This new set looks more like the G1 animation model for Bruticus not the G1/RID toys so this set looks a little off from the show, but at least the colours are right. When Hasbro bought Baldigus over to the west along with changing his name to Ruination they made the toys a different colour scheme than the cartoon.

Its times like this you ask yourself...do I need another repaint?

Trying to find homes for all of the MP seekers is hard enough, let alone having 2 existing bruticus collections (CW and g2, was waiting on a sale on the UW), need to think hard on this one, it looks so good!

I wonder though, the head looks painted gold, what about the chest, I know the hands and feet aren't so there may be gps concerns.

I was going to say that the colours make Movor (Blastoff) look like a really nice toy in shuttle mode, compared to the Bruticus version... but the swapping around of the arms to make the back its new front, makes it look more like the original toy... and turning around the arms, head and legs of the Bruticus version doesn't look too bad either. You don't even notice the thumbs being on the outside of the hands unless you look really close, as it has those holes at the ends of the fists.

And Onslaught/Mega-Octane & Brawl/Armorhide comes with guns... so they can have their barrels on their backs and still have a gun. Looks like the Japanese Computron guns for Mega-Octane... and some Devastator guns... with the Hasbro Computron hands & feet - almost like they cherry-picked the best bits for this boxset.

I just preordered from PC using their Zip Pay option. He may not be G1 or even IDW G1 but he looks so nice. I'll also use this as reason for me not to buy the Hasbro G2 CW figures even if I see them on deep discount, already have two Brutici no need for a 3rd.:p

You're right, Lynx Master and Megatronia both had a price hike to $180 -- maybe caught out by currency fluctuations or couldn't get a good deal on them with their supplier, who knows...

I did it in post #18, but didn't articulate it too well from the excitement of creating "Punch" from "Counterpunch". ;)

I turned around the head, lower arms and legs, and even though the JP Blast Off has a plain looking chest area, it really works... looking more like the original toy, and you don't notice the thumbs being on the wrong side of the fists because of the giant holes at the base of the fists.

The final chapter of the Unite Warriors (TakaraTomy Mall exclusive sets) is now out, and translated here (http://www.allspark.com/2016/11/unite-warriors-manga-finale-translation/).

I guess that means that there are no more TTM exclusive combiner sets planned... and with no more Hasbro sets announced after Liokaiser, there might not be anymore combiner sets from Japan after Baldigus.


Something of note in this chapter of the comic is an alternate combiner form for Lynxmaster, giving him a lynx "beast" mode with all four Deluxe limbs being legs... something that isn't on the box of the toy or the instructions.

I was about to scold the upside down G2 Autobot logo until I realised the original figure had it. What's the deal with that?

"Combatron" logo - they flipped the logo due to the G2 Prime mould having it moulded in plastic for their Black Convoy in the Car Robots line

Car Robot is mostly about the Autobots (Cybertrons) vs the Predacons (Destrongers), but later the Predacon ranks are bolstered by the addition of the Combaticons (Combatrons). Their leader is Black Convoy (a repaint of G2 Laser Optimus Prime) who is created as an evil clone of Optimus Prime. He is effectively the first 'Nemesis Prime' (but in the Anglophone version he's called "Scourge"). Also the Combaticons are the only enemies of the Transformers with proper vehicle modes. The Predacons have beast modes or in the case of Gigatron, some approximated vehicle modes (as a 6-10 changer), but none of them are true vehicles (at least not Earth based vehicles).

Also, Fire Convoy and Black Convoy's iconic introductory lines are mirror opposites of each other. When Fire Convoy debuts into battle by delivering the line:
「たとえ宇宙の果てでも正義を呼ぶ声があるところに我々サイバトロンは現れる！」
"Until the ends of the universe, the Autobots will heed the call of justice."
「たとえ宇宙の果てだとも、悪を呼ぶ声あるところに必ずやってくる！」
"Until the ends of the universe, I shall absolutely heed the call of evil"

Basically Black Convoy is like the "Anti-Prime" of Fire Convoy and the Combaticons are the antitheses of the Autobots in this series. So Black Convoy and the Combaticons all sport inverted G2 Autobot logos as an affront to the Autobots - similar to say wearing an inverted crucifix* in front of Christians. It's done to deliberately provoke and insult the Autobots.

Unfortunately this interesting imagery was lost in Hasbro's Robots In Disguise adaptation of this line, as all the Combaticons had their inverted Autobot logos replaced with G1 Decepticon insignias. Also, Scourge was never released here. :( And some of the Combaticons and Ruination in general were given quite different colours which made them look really show-inaccurate (e.g. Armourhide became blue instead of desert beige, Ruination's parts became grey instead of gold etc.).

Yeah, that was what was being asked - why the Gen2 symbol is being used on the toys and why it was written into the story... it was just easier than remoulding the Gen2 toy.
