6th November 2016, 09:42 AM
NOTE - Catalogue sale goes until November 16th, but the Transformers page is on sale until November 27th.
https://www.target.com.au/catalogues#page=catalogue¶ms=where-christmas-comes-together%2F14776104567943&pageview=1&pageNo=7
TR Legends for $15 (save $5)
TR Deluxe for $20 (save $5)
RID Minicon for $6 (save $2)
RID One-Step for $15 (save $4)
ALSO NOTE - the images for the four Transformers items are mixed up, so don't expect the stores to sell the Deluxe toys for $15 or the One-Steps for $6.

I was confused by why the Legends were $20 and the Deluxes were $15 till I learnt they got the images wrong.
Still it'll be good to grab the wave 2 legends

They're going to get into a bit of trouble from customers about that one.
And I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't a few fans trying to take advantage of it, to try to force a Target store to match the price of the image, instead of the price of the text next to the price that is actually correct.

That is one hella confusing catalogue page.

People are reporting on Facebook that the Deluxes are scanning up at $15.
I guess Target decided to take the loss on the figures an honour the lowest price for the sake of reputation, at least until they can issue a formal correction.

I've seen that too, I don't' think I'll be getting to a target till tomorrow at best though.

Cool, might hit up Target tomorrow to see if there is a skullcruncher. $15 will sway me to get that one.
Really goes to show what the real price they can bear is with these $20 sales that these figures previously had.

Really goes to show what the real price they can bear is with these $20 sales that these figures previously had.
Back when I was working at Target, the rough mark-up on toys was about 40-50%. (ie for every $30 you spent, Target got $12-$15 with the remainder going to the wholesaler)
But remember, that mark-up goes to pay for salaries, rents, utilities, etc not just raw profit.
Effectively (unless wholesale costs have gone down in the last 5 years), it appears that Target is effectively charging wholesale on Deluxes to honour the catalogue mistake.

Don't worry, I know all of that. I can give you a cost analysis given the proper data if you want. ;) You also have cost of storage, delivery, administration, rates, etc etc etc. Lots of etc's. :)
But it still goes to show what they can offer to really sell these items at. They'd be insane to sell at a loss rather than just retract the listing. But this is Target and they aren't making the best decisions right now. They aren't really in a position to keep giving away goodwill.
Also I know people will baulk at it, that is actually quite a small mark up. :)

At $15 a pop, might throw some coin at Target.

My target has that 5-pack of RID one step changers and that's the entirety of the TF shelves. Will maybe pop in just on the off chance that's changed

Coooooool, I've got four of the deluxes on layby... with the amount I've already paid off on it I can cancel the layby and then just buy them outright :D Greatly looking forward to shopping tomorrow.

Bought a chromedome but it scanned up as $20. Still happy with the price but I wonder if it's been changed nationwide or store by store?

yep $15 without even asking (i.e. just auto scans) in Canberra - picked up wolfwire and hardhead last night.
Good of them to bear the brunt of the mistake!

I got four of them today, including Chromedome, they all scanned $15 each. Their pricing is supposed to be uniform nationwide,

This sign was in the Dandenong store tonight.
They have lowered the prices to match the incorrect prices in the catalogue

The text says deluxe, just image in wrong place, the images are all bunched together so it's not really saying they are that price despite the photo goof.
Huh that image above didn't load before.
I read the fine print on that pic and awesome they have lowered the price to the goof amount, but I already got both wave, well except scourge.

I must confess, I feel jealous. I bought each of the wave 1 and 2 deluxes long before this Target sale, with some at full RRP. If I'd known Target would sell them as low as $15, I'd probably have waited.
I've been tempted to buy a 2nd Mindwipe as a "play" copy, since I keep most of my action figures MOC, including the Mindwipe I already own. But I remind myself I don't need it, and instead need to (and want to!) allocate the funds to my waifu's present since her birthday is in a couple weeks.
Still, if you're like me and already bought all the deluxes and legends before the sale; the nice thing about it is that it makes the stock move faster, making the store more inclined to bring in wave 3 sooner than later.

That's the thing. Sometimes you eat the bear, sometimes he eats you lol. Buy it early so you have it and not miss out, or wait for a sale to find they are hard to find. Call it an impatience tax. I have a layby on at Toys R Us for a few things I waited for. Like G2 Superion, could pick up on Toybento for half the price. I did for Menasor because TRU had none in stock. So lucky there lol

I wouldn't feel too bad. They retail for $25 at most stores so already cheaper most places than CW deluxes. Most stores have had them at a $20 sale price in the past few months which was rare for CW deluxes to be on special. And the $15 price is a mistake not something that could have been expected.
That I was able to get all the ones I wanted for $20 was great and that I bought Hardhead earlier for $25 is not big deal.

Yeah, I'm not too bummed about it (not at all actually :)). But $15 is a really good deal, and I'm happy for people who can take advantage of it. I don't think I've ever seen deluxes that cheap.

It's a pity this is merely a sale, as $15 is a much more realistic price point for deluxes anyway imo

When I found out they were scanning at $15, I picked up weirdwolf and mindwipe.
Gotta admit that mindwipe is quite disappointing, and I hate the rubber parts and false wings, yay it was only $15.
Weirdwolf is surprisingly good.
Wish I had picked up highbrow instead of mindwipe
Can't wait for wave 3

Any skull crunchers Brisbane Northside? I would like that one at the $15 mark. I only bought Chromedome as the others I already had or didn't want. Thanks.

While I would love that, $25 sits about right in my mind of what they should be.
I don't think Deluxes have been anywhere near $15 since Beast Wars!

I dunno, Australia is one of the most expensively priced, if not THE most, places in the world as far as TFs go. Even taking into account exchange rates and whatever other import costings blah blah blah, we're being ripped off imo.
I mean, 20 bucks for figures the likes of CW Bombshell etc? That ain't right,

The US Retail prices have been going up in the last few years, during a time when the AU$ dropped from parity to 70-75 US cents... so we actually should have been seeing a price rise here, but instead we've had most stay the same, and some size classes have even seen a drop in price (like the Deluxe and Leaders).
These are the US Retail prices, converted to AU$ (at the current approximate bank rate of 0.73), plus their 7% sales tax (their sales tax rate varies for each state (http://taxfoundation.org/sites/taxfoundation.org/files/docs/state-local-sales-taxes-2014-(large).png), but 7% is about average)...
GEN TMast - - AU$7.33 (compared to our regular shelf price of AU$9-10 in most stores)
GEN Legends - AU$14.66 (compared to our regular shelf price of AU$19-20 in most stores)
GEN Deluxe - - AU$24.92 (compared to our regular shelf price of AU$25-30 in most stores)
GEN Voyager - AU$36.64 (compared to our regular shelf price of AU$48-50 in most stores)
GEN Leader - - AU$65.96 (compared to our regular shelf price of AU$59-90 in most stores)
GEN Titan - - - AU$219.86 (compared to our regular shelf price of AU$249-369 in most stores)
So when we have sale prices, like $20 Deluxes, we are getting our toys for less than Americans, which is really unusual for us.
Considering the non-American branches of Hasbro have to pay profits/commissions to the main American Hasbro, our prices shouldn't be that close to American prices... as we were often close to double their prices (which caused a lot of annoyance and aggression by Australian collectors in the past, prompting people like me to import most Transformers toys while we were around parity, but in the last year thanks to sales and the exchange rate, I've been buying most from Australian retailers).

Yeah, I atleast agree with that - $20 for a legends figure is just ridiculous! (Particularly when the next more function size up is only $5 more!)
GEN TMast - - AU$7.33 (compared to our regular shelf price of AU$9-10 in most stores)
GEN Legends - AU$14.66 (compared to our regular shelf price of AU$19-20 in most stores)

New Zealand would like a word then :)
Come over here and see what we pay as we do not have the volume or the specials to get some of Australia's pretty good prices.

I guess with the low volumes that stores stock here in Aus, they can only lower sale prices to such, still good... but yeah, when I look at the "old stock" clearance sale price being posted on facebook photos from Philippines, I get a bit dismayed at our pricing here.... deluxes there drop down to about $16 and voyagers down to 32-35 ( same here I guess) Some retailers even drop the tiny legions to$3-5... which is what they shouldve been priced imo in the first place instead of the $8-10 price we pay for em. Plus they still sell old waves, unlike how we here have to search high and low for some figures we missed or get skipped on... which tempts me to often just wait for my annual holiday there and binge on buying the figures there. But it will be a year late , hahah... ah well some figures I just ask a friend of mine to buy for me... though its already old by a year before I get my hands on it at least I dont miss out... plus he does chance upon them on a sale which is really cheaper. I can wait since at least I know I am guaranteed to have the figure. 😊😊😊
