Early lunch, kids wake up at 7, no more weekend sleeping in.

Have to get both male and female toys as daughter loves little pony

Unfortunate placement of the box, I thought those eyes were part of the toy! Makes it look like BB's head is a beak and it's an Angry Birds tie in!:D

I personally find all post-Armada Happy Meal toys to be rubbish. Once upon a time Happy Meal TFs could actually transform, and the Armada Happy Meal toys could:
* Transform
* Power link
* Combine
* Have individual gimmicks (e.g. Jumpstarter Starscream)
^all for $2!

The cost of the toys haven't changed, but now they pretty much don't do anything. I just can't be bothered with them anymore.

I can confirm that Bumblee at least can transform.
His offical alt mode is (I shit you not!) a frigging Bumblebee. Something tells me Ronald has never seen the show, or even the movies.

Don't know why I'm defending McDonalds at all... but these aren't so bad. My 2 year old likes the Bumblebee, he recognises the toy from the cartoon, so I'm treating it like a gateway drug. I'm keeping the wings for a custom project (as I will with OP's sword), and if he kills the toy (likely), I'm out $2. No worries.

That actually sounds kinda cool :)

I asked at a nearby McDonalds, and they said that the Transformers toys don't officially get released until Wednesday (4th February), but stores that have sold out of their Sing toys are obviously allowed to give them out early.
So if you want these, it is best to check out a nearby outlet this week if they ran out of Sing toys, and next week if they haven't.

So how's the articulation on these? I don't think I could be motivated to collect any of these but I'm still interested in how they work. Shoulder and hip joints?

Bumblebee has 3POA (left arm, right arm, and neck on a fixed tilt up or down)

On the plus side, his hands are compatible with RiD minicons. Since he's unarmed, I've given him Lancelon to use as a sword.

So... did two get released this week (Optimus and Grimlock), or did you manage to convince the store to let you get next week's as well?

(although, with some stores releasing their Bumblebees almost 2 weeks early, it wouldn't surprise me if some outlets are really early with all of them)

I think it's pretty random. Several different Maccas near me (and very close to each other) have had different toys at vastly different times.

I'm getting headaches from mine - my 2-y-o and nearly-4-y-o are sharing a 'Bee and an OP and it's guaranteed that one of them is going to want the one the other has at any given moment. Getting the next 2 is either going to settle the fires or pour gasoline on them. Pity as they are pretty good primer toys for my kid's age group.

I'm worried I've missed out on Optimus now, as ALL the locals only had Grims.

On the plus side, the phallic missile is 5mm so compatible with Rid Warrior class figures. I've given it to RiD Stormshot who needed a firing missile launcher. I swapped the guns and gave it to Grims.

Yeah, but just remember that $2 used to get you Happy Meal Transformers that looked like this (http://otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?p=549633#post549633). ;) It'd still work as a gateway toy. Strangely enough, we couldn't give those toys away. Literally. We had heaps of them as prizes at the Sabretron 2004 convention, and after the games were over we tried to randomly give the left over toys away to attendees and we still had heaps of leftovers. As recently as just last year I gave away my last spare Armada Happy Meal toy to a friend's child. Yet Maccas now make these incredibly sub-par toys and now everyone's scrambling for 'em like eggs in a Big Breakfast.

As an employee of Macca's I can give the lowdown hahaha, BB was the first week, OP the second and Grim the third; I'll check during my next shift what we've got out the back for the week after but depending on how busy the store is they might sell out of one week but not the next.

My store on Friday when I last worked had BB and OP for customers and Grim in boxes out the back, but another store I worked at on Aus day sold out all their BBs so only had OP (a few days early)...

All depends how many toys each store orders as to how long each figure is available.

Even with my staff 50% discount still not bothering with them :p

Thanks for the advice Dimi. I chased around till I found a (somewhat long drive to reach) store with Optimus.

I like the blue sword, and would steak it to give to a real tra sofmret but the hilt is oversized and wouldn't fit 5mm hole. Still pretty nice for two bucks. You'd pay more than that for a pvc of him that size.

5th February 2017, 09:32 PM
I just ask what toys they have and any others options available.

griffin
6th February 2017, 12:51 AM
My nearest outlet only had Grimlock today... which means they sold out of Bumblebee and Optimus in just four days, or the Manager lied about not being able to sell them until the 1st of February (when I was there on the 26th). I should have gone back every few days and not trusted him, to think that today they would be just a few days into their first week of toys. Silly me I guess. :(
So now I have to see if I can find somewhere that still has Bumblebee and Optimus... but it sounds like that might be too late.

6th February 2017, 12:00 PM
Dont give up yet... I found one place that still have a batch old RID Optimus Prime Grimlock with led light few months after that toy was supposed to be sold out. I was looking for those DC Hot Wheels toys that time.

Has anyone seen any advertising for the Transformer toys? I haven't seen anything on TV or even in he stores

Some outlets are up to 3-4 weeks ahead with their toys.
Garden City on Sunday only had week 3 Grimlock, and then Monday the one at Sunnybank Plaza only had the week 2 Optimus.... but the one on Grannard Road (Rocklea) was still selling the Sing toys... so hopefully they still have Bumblebee ready to be releaese.

Maybe the first toys were being sent randomly to the maccas outlets... or the staff are not opening up the right boxes for each week. So I might still see Bumblebee at places that currently have Grimlock or Optimus.

So far we just have Bumblebee and Grimlock. Wondering if the Optimus figures got past us.

For those that have the two above, try putting Bbee's wings in the peg hole on Grimlocks back. I'm going to make Grimlock a little wand because it makes him look like he's dressed up as a fairy! :D:p

One of the McD i went to have both the RID and MLP have the sticker roughly the size of a dinner plate plastered on the countertop.

I got strong arm, but the toy does not have much play value. Arms can turn 360 deg and got a big missile launcher which can be placed on both hands or on the back (but will topple backwards).

MLP is slightly better, rarity with a comb and mirror in the base which my kid enjoy more. Also got an angry bird toy earlier as they say its the only toy available when I drop by to buy a happy meal lunch for my kids. Decided to walk pass the place again after shopping to check ut what they have. Usually I will check out 2 outlets, once inside the mall and one at the train station near my kids weekend activities.

Thanks for the offer... but I finally found one today. :)

For those on the south side of Brisbane, the Sunnybank McDonalds is now selling Bumblebee (they had Optimus last week), and the Grannard Road McDonalds is now selling the Transformers Happy Meal toys with Optimus first. The Manager told me that the outlets get boxes in batches, and since they were so slow to sell out the Sing toys, they didn't get sent a box of Bumblebees. She said that the boxes are numbered, but the order is not enforced, and since they get sent out in batches, it's why we've been seeing Optimus, Bumblebee and Grimlock at various McDonalds in the first two weeks, but not Strongarm or Drift. Since Strongarm has just been found, Drift is likely to show up now as well.

The Mt Gravatt outlet (not Garden City) has sold all of their Transformers toys and only had some unsold Sing toys.
Either these sold really fast or very little were sent out as this should have been a 5 week promotion and we are still 3 days short of 4 weeks since the official start date.

I know that they only employ teenagers, but is there a rule that says McDonalds can only employ friggin idiots as well?

Here is my encounter this afternoon

Me: (in the drive thru after ordering two happy meals for my son and daughter) So which Transformer toy is it this week? If its a new character we will want an extra.
Intercom: Um.. Bumblebee
Me: Na, ya had Bumblebee a few weeks ago. Do you know which it is?
Intercom: (10 seconds of silence)
Intercom: Do you want anything else?
Me: And a large triple cheeseburger meal please.
Intercom: That will be $21.45, please drive through.
Me: Hang on, so did you know which Transformer toy it is?
Intercom: It's Bumblebee
Me: Ok, never mind.

I go through the drive-thru and get the food. Before I even leave the carpark I check my sons Happy Meal and sure enough there is a Drift in it. So I park and and go back in and take the Drift to the counter.

Me: Hi, the guy on the drive-thru said you had Bumblebee Happy Meal toys but its this one so I want to grab an extra one.
Cashier: Oh you want to swap it? Sure
Me: No, I said if it was a different character I wanted another but he said it was Bumblebee. Since it's not I want to grab another one too.
Cashier: Ok, I'll be right back (she disappears into a storeroom)
Cashier: Sorry, we don't have any more Bumblebee's, its just that one.
Me: (irate now but managing not to yell) I don't WANT a Bumblebee! I TOLD the guy on the intercom that if it was a NEW CHARACTER I would want a second! He said it was BUMBLEBEE so I didn't get one. It's NOT BUMBLEBEE so I WANT TO PURCHASE A SECOND ONE OF THIS TOY PLEASE! (holding it up)
Cashier: Oh ok, sure, sorry.

I mean, for frags sake! I'm guessing the idiot on the intercom only knew the name of one TF character so thats what he said which makes him lazy at his job, but she's a moron too. As it is Ive taken to getting reciepts since half the time I order a triple-cheeseburger and when I open the bag half way back to the farm it turns out to be a regular one

Why can't Maccas just have a little sign up in their service booth saying 'this weeks Happy Meal toys are...' Cobsidering they must sell a giant amount each week it makes sense.

I shouldn't know what toy they are flogging that week better than the people that are actually employed there. Sorry but it's just crap customer service
