These are today's photos, posted up in batches, so keep coming back until I note that there are no more.

Inside, at the Hasbro exhibit - so many more exhibitors are walled off now... it was like a maze this year in some parts, when it used to be quite open.

The new Trypticon is about double the length, width and height of Gigastorm/Trypticon.

The Titanmaster heads in the exclusive 5-packs that were on display at the New York Toyfair (Thunderwing and Rodimus), were found among the dozens of Titanmsaters in the diorama, and must have been shipped to Australia with the other toys by accident. They were both diecast too (the face part), but Rodimus' face was hand painted, so the final version of that one will look significantly different.
I had a bit of fun though, sticking the Thunderwing on Full-tilt's body...

...and put Rodimus' head on the Hot Rod body.

Any close up shots on the bots? Namely the new Generations and Movie line toys.
So lucky you get to go see these things. Jealous. Star Wars and Transformers.

Part 3...
Movie section.
I didn't get much time with the Movie toys, as I prioritised the Generations toys, because that's the line that fans here are most interested in at the moment. So I didn't get many photos, and most of the ones here are blown up from one photo, so look blurry. I figured I should include these images though, as there wasn't much packaging on display at the New York Toyfair.
I also wasn't allowed to take photos of the backs of the packaging, in case it reveals co-sell items that aren't to be revealed yet.

Firstly, how bad-a$$ is Squeaks in that fourth photo?!? He looks tougher than I'd have given him credit for.
Great to see new toys on display, quite a scoop. In package photos of Seaspray is cool. I can't wait to get him, and I see Overlord and Blitzwing on the shelf too.
Quite like the colors, oh and RID Bludgeon looks cool too

Fantastic coverage Griff!
Yep, great job (though one would think as Ozzie of the year you might have taken me along to represent the fandom :p).
RID Twinferno looks quite odd. And I'm disappointed that there seems to be no more Salvage toys in the RB line - only character I'm missing and his toys are stupidly expensive online.
Besides that all looks great -certainly a golden time to be a TF collector - especially one who grew up loving G1 :D

Great photo set Griffin, good to see some inter team coop at the lunch meat as well.
I'm looking forward to the RID Warriors a lot, maybe more than the titans deluxes and voyagers.
I am keen for that leader movie megs as well.

Lots to take away from that... and good to know what I'll potentially need to budget for. ;)

I'll be able to answer questions later tonight (if I'm not too tired getting back home tonight).
I also have some more non-Transformers photos (not a lot, and nothing from other exhibitors... but wanted to quickly post these photos up for the Star Wars fans in Melbourne, to check out this little commemorative display outside the Toyfair entrance (inside the main corridor of the Convention Centre, so it is accessible to the general public),
It is for the 40th anniversary of Star Wars (this year), and has some props on display, plus some blurbs about the different chapters of the series during the last forty years... and some blurbs about the next two Star Wars movies, Episode 8 and the Han Solo movie.
Plus, they have individually numbered prints of a classic Star Wars concept art poster from the 70s... limited to 1000.
This should be there for the entire four days of the Fair, which ends Wednesday.

missing and his toys are stupidly expensive online.
The theme this year for Rescue Bots is the Flip Racers, and there is a Salvage included... in one of the 3-packs (you can see him on the top
deck of the Optimus Trailer in "part 4" posting of photos.
Did you handle any toys?
Demonac and I were allowed to touch the toys, but with me taking photos and notes, he got to play with a lot more than I did.
Did any of you get to play with trypticon? Curious how his transformation and playability is...
The transformation looked to be pretty much identical to the Gen1 toy, when going from dino mode to city mode (sides fold out, legs fold open as
two halves, and the head spins around).
Thanks for sharing boss. No tiny turbo changers?
The Movie Tiny Turbo Changer blind packs were in the back corner of the Movie toy section, in "part 3", next to the Legions. I didn't take a close up
photo because it was only wave 1, which we saw at the New York toyfair.
I didn't get time to have a play with them either...
Surprisingly, we were there for about 40 minutes, but it felt like five after talking to several different Hasbro people, taking photos, writing down
everything on display, and making sure we got out of the way of visiting Retailers.
who were the hasbro people? pr or in the design team or anything cool? any cool tidbits from chatting or Q&A etc?
The two at the meet are Product/Marketing Managers, covering a number of Brands that includes Transformers.
The rest of the photos that I took that relate to the meet and Toyfair...
The toys at the meet that people brought in for others to play with, before the Hasbro people arrived. M-Bot brought his MOTU Transformers, and
Chileno brought his CW Guard City.

Every few minutes we could hear helicopters outside, and on the river was a helipad that was very busy that morning.
http://www.toycollectors.com.au/toyfair/17toyfair69.jpg
At the Convention Centre, outside the entrance to the Toy & Hobby Fair, were a number of displays promoting some brands.
These are cardboard standees of the DC Super Girl action figures, and a green screen for people to have their photo taken with the Girls.

The main body is hollow so no walking gimmick. Demonac showed off his Gigastorm walking and they were really liking it.
Doesn't look like any electronics at all... like Devastator.

Hey Griff I'm curious about the toys Hasbro showed like Trypticon, Misfire and Slugslinger that are a long way from hitting shelves. Are they hand painted prototypes that were shown or are they from a point in the process that's further along like test shots?
griffin
7th March 2017, 02:03 PM
Slugslinger was hand painted because it doesn't come out until October. One of the Trypticons was pre-production. Misfire had proper paint apps and comes out in June so was probably a final test shot or production figure.

Official image of Misfire (https://www.seibertron.com/images/events/526/r_Titans-Return-C2393AS00-346259-Misfire-Robot-PKG-v1.jpg) shows him w/ a black (or dark grey) head. I kinda wish that Hasbro would've gone with a more toy-accurate head for Misfire and left the toon-like head for TakaraTOMY. I much prefer the original toy's head which is also how Misfire appears in the IDW comics. Although I also prefer the G1 toy's blue eyes over the cartoon's red eyes (and strangely enough IDW Misfire has red eyes too despite the rest of the head being toy-accurate).

I haven't watched more than a couple of episodes of Headmasters ever thanks to the terrible English dub so this might be irrelevant to Misfire, but it seems Takara is going Headmasters accurate not Rebirth accurate so I've actually been getting some LGs and some TRs to get the most US G1 cartoon accurate decos. As long as one of the two companies does US G1 cartoon accurate I'm happy.

I think, similar to TR Kup, Misfire is sporting his Marvel Comics aesthetic (http://comicvine.gamespot.com/images/1300-2187336).
The head is similar to the cartoon design, but with a blue visor instead of red.

You do know that the Australian DVD release of the Japanese G1 episodes are watchable in Japanese w/ English subtitles, right? As are the UK Metrodome releases (which predate the Madman ones). And I think a US company (Shout Factory?) are releasing them too.

Well spotted :) Still would've preferred a toy-accurate head though, but ah well. First world probs. :p
