*Rumours* are circulating out of Singapore of the possibility of a Masterpiece Grimlock and Alternity Megatron for around March next year.
Please note that these are only rumours at this stage, but worth a bit of discussion or excitement.
(this was kinda mentioned in another topic, but not many would have seen it, so am posting it here)
Masterpiece Dinobots should look in scale with the BT/ALTs according to the original cartoon and some comic issues (their robot modes were often drawn huge to match the size of their alt modes, avoiding the whole mass-shifting thing).

The rumour mill says Grimmy will be roughly 13,000 Yen = currently $180 AUD
That's pretty steep for just one figure! (Does anyone remember how much MP-04 was originally?)

I am hyped about MP Grimlock but fearful of the final cost given the low strength of the AU dollar and the Yen seen as a 'safe' currency!
At least I will not pay as much as the poor sap who bough the MP Skywarp for $300 at the Parra Fair.

If it really is true and we are getting an MP Grimmy, I don't care if our dollar is buying 20 US cents, I'm getting him post-haste! :D

MP Grimlock? For the cost they're quoting, I don't care if they're putting their backsides into it so that it's sturdier than MP05

With any luck by the time these guys are released the dollar will be on the up again.
As for Grimlocks price it all depends on what they give me for that price, previous MP's while exspensive have all been satisfying for me, and as such I'd rate thier value over the equivelant amount of smaller TF's I could buy. The workmanship and detail on the MP and BT line makes me feel like I'm getting value for my money even though they are exspensive, something I don't get as much when I buy larger TF's from the general lines.

Wouldn't bother me one bit what the exchange rate is, if it was for MP Grimlock, I'd pay anything... within reason of course haha

I think it would be more expensive because there isn't really any recolour potential to it that would be marketable enough to sell as an additional MP. So maybe they plan on charging more to get the most profit from the single release of it.

BBTS.com has a preorder (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TAK10885&mode=retail)up for Masterpiece Grimlock.
Price is US$149.99
For that much I wouldn't want to be ordering more than one. :(
Preorders are also up for the Alternity Megatrons.

I am hyped for Masterpiece Grimlock!
They are saying that it will be the largest of the Masterpiece figures and much bulkier. That is why there is a price increase.
I can't wait and hoping that they go for an IDW style interpretation that 'modernizes' the T-Rex mode but keeps the robot mode similar to G1.

I wouldn't put it beyond them to recolour it as G2 Grimock, assuming of course that its going to Transform into a Dino and not some car in the first place.

You just gave me a bad thought...
What if he does not turn out to be a Tyrannosaurus but some sort of military vehicle?
This goes back to previous discussions on Masterpiece Grimlock in which it was argued that the toy would be an unlikely Masterpiece release because it was unrealistic and the Japanese prefer realistic vehicles much more than in the western market.

If they don't make it relate to G1 or a T-Rex, I'll probably not buy it if only in protest. I'm a little tired of Has/Tak slapping memorable G1 names onto toys as an excuse to sell it to fans.

This looks to be an official teaser (posted at digital-toys.com)

Certainly looks familiar, unless it's just the G1 toy silhouetted!

Wonder how sturdy this thing will be. MP megs is flimsy as and a bit emaciated especially the legs. Now for this one, hope there's more metal in itand not just in the middle. They started well using die cast for Prime and each MP after keeps seeing less and less diecast parts its making the figures a little too fragile when it shouldnt. :(. Will the other dinos then see an MP release? These would be massive!

kurdt: that image is a silhouette of the G1 toy box art. :p I would be very surprised if it's not a mechanical T-Rex as the Masterpiece line is all about making them like G1, unlike Binaltech which was about adapting G1 characters into real-life vehicles.

Yeah, that's the real worry... You really don't want to spend that much on one figure when it only takes a slight breeze to knock it over...

I don't care if he's not bigger personally. I jsut want to see a sturdy, articulated toy.

:)I wouldn't mind a WW adaptation if they don't want to do the T-rex:).

 Ep...ic... I can't believe Takara are really going to do it, there was always room in my mind to expect an MP Grimmers would be as likely as a G1 reissue (:( sad face) but it's actually for real. As for die-cast... I'm not too fussed. If the previous releases in the line have taught as anything it's that using less of it seems to be the standard now. I guess it's because so many people complained that MP Prime had balance issues since he was top heavy, and that's something I don't want for Grimlock. Maybe a little in the legs would be good, but not 99% plastic like Screamer, that was a bit too cut back.
EDIT: RK have also added MP Grimmers as a pre-order (http://www.robotkingdom.com/services/eshop/main.php?action=details&CatType=Category&II=TFTRMP08&lang=us&CatID=1_42) at $119.90 US. Happy face! :D

So this will send me to the poor house, but I just don't care. A big mechanical T-Rex like they had in a advert once would be fantastic.
