BBTS just put up some preorders for a LG Sharkticon, Hot Rodimus and Kup. Of note is Hotrod and Kup are listed as Targetmasters.

There aren't any images yet, and these look like they might be released in September (http://news.tfw2005.com/2017/04/05/order-listings-shown-takara-lg-hot-rodimus-kup-sharkticon-336721) (Dinosaurer/Trypticon is LG43 in August).
The "Targetmaster" for Kup and Hot Rodimus might have a modification to be actual Targetmasters, or is just the name to note them as being the newer "master" versions, from their earlier Henkei/United versions. (like Leader class Powermaster Optimus not being an actual Powermaster, but just looking like that 80s toy)

They possibly come with the TM vehicles like some of the earlier LG versions of the TR line

Interesting to note that Sharkticon comes with Sweep as well. So if you like the comic and want some spare sweep heads you can army build both Sharky and sweeps. Though in the legends world, there are only 6 Sweeps (including Scourge).
Personally I hope that the Targetmaster guys come with something better than those stupid TM vehicles.

At first I thought those Targetmasters were retools or re-uses of Arms Microns. It turns out that they're totally new molds.
Even though this version of Kup is grey, I like it a lot better than the Titans Return version. His face sort of reminds me of Rokusaburo Michiba.

Whoever decided/approved the colours might've been going off degraded source material from the Headmasters anime. Apparently it's referencing inaccurate colours from Five Faces of Darkness/The Rebirth. Seems odd, whatever.

Even though Kup turned out a bit odd, I can appreciate the effort they put into these. Sharkticon looks great! :D

Wow, Kup is totally not what I expected, might still get him for the targetmaster though I guess. Even Hot Rod isn't quite what I was thinking but at least he's still similar enough. Actually I'm interested to see how these targetmaster would compare to Mastershooter versions.
Agreed that the sharkticon looks great ... I guess you can army build it and get a bunch of sweep heads too ... but need to get some more scourge deluxes ... wonder if there are any scourges about still ... I think TT scourge and a bunch of Hasbro scourge with sweeps head might be alright

Well I like Takara's grey Kup more than Hasbro's comic accurate Kup. Just have to keep an eye on HLJ for preorders now.
With the rumour that what comes after Titans Return is going to be Targetmasters I wonder if these are early examples of what we will have in the next CHUG line?

Heh, nice move with redecoing Scourge as "Sweep." :) Army builder awaaay!
Wow, Kup is totally not what I expected, might still get him for the targetmaster though I guess.
You'd pay $45 before postage for a transforming gun? You know that Generations figures have 5mm post weapons, same as the G1 Targetmasters - i.e. if you already have G1/reissue TM Kup then the Generations figure ought to be able to hold Recoil. Even if we estimate the value of the individual Targetmaster to be about $5 (half the price of those individual Titan Masters since it doesn't come w/ a vehicle) and the Sharkticon as say $20 (Legends RRP), that's still $25 (before postage) excess that you're paying.
Obviously it's your money and you can spend it however you like, but just sayin' that if it's the Targetmaster and Sharkticon that interests you over the core figure (Kup), then it's gonna be one pret-ty expensive purchase. :o

I knew TakTom would give us an alternate head for Kup but never expected a revised colour. Kup looks great in the grey but...
Rod looks great as well but I feel the minor colour variation and black boots is just not sufficient enough reason to justify replacing the Hasbro version.
Gnaw looks great in his movie colours but I feel the Hasbro just pops a little more, I have also already committed to 16 Hasbro Gnaws I don't think I can justify more TakTom Gnaws.

Interesting take on Kup, grey seems an odd choice, but it also makes him really unique, tempting.
Takara's Hot Rod deco looks leagues above the local version which I happily skipped, though I'm still not sure I like the base mold that much.

Just watched the first two episodes of FFoD, Kup varies shot by shot from a desaturated version of his normal colours to completely grey like this release. Still like him better than the Hasbro release.

I ended up ordering a second Gnaw just to have a second Sweep head. I have 3 Scourge's, so with two Sweep heads I think that will make a nice subtle change between Scourge and his Sweeps.

Ah, another Scourge/Sweep head to destroy.
I transformed my copy of Scourge from vehicle to robot, and I forgot to take Fracas out of the cockpit. You can imagine the result..
In seriousness though, I think it's cool they're doing another variation of the Scourge head. Even if you haven't destroyed your Scourge head like I did and need another, you can still give this Sweep head to your other Scourges to distinguish them from the real Scourge. This makes the idea of buying 2 or more TR/Legends Scourges justifiable.

Hmm. If I get one more hasbro sharkticon, then order one of these takara sharkticons I will have a little squad of 5 and the takara one could stand out as a sharkticon sargeant or something. Or I could just not get any more and be satisfied with what I have...

That's a really big change in the comparison. I wouldn't be completely surprised if they simply changed the grey to a more teal colour in response. Seems hard to mess up with lighting.

It's interesting how LG figures in Japan are just FLYING off shelves, even when the Deluxes are nearly double our prices (due to the inclusion of the bonus Titan Master vehicle), yet our figures with cheaper Deluxes and about same prices for other size classes aren't selling nearly as quickly. With the exception of Soundwave and Ravage, I could not find any LGs in my recent trip to Japan, and in the trip that I went on last week LGs were also not easy to find - now it's near impossible.
I spoke to one store employee in Tokyo who confirmed that LG has been their strongest selling TF line. I can still find MPs a-plenty (except for the BW MPs, they were all sold out everywhere), Movie series (despite being heavily promoted atm) etc. - all fairly easy to find. But Legends? Good freakin' luck! TAV is a mixed bag - half of those figures are shelfwarming while others are selling well. I went to my local Target yesterday and they'd restocked on Deluxe and Legends TR figures (so many Sharkticons!). I wouldn't say that they're shelfwarming per se, but just not flying off shelves like their LG counterparts are in Japan.

Probably nostalgia. The Headmasters anime was the first exclusive Japanese G1 series (followed by MF, Victory, Zone, etc). I don't know how popular it was when it aired in Japan, but I imagine people who grew up watching that series would have a much bigger disposable income these days. Some might even buy the Headmasters for their kids to show them how Transformers should be like. Movie toys? Transformers Adventure? Bah!!

It's been noted that there are some production flaws/QC issues on the LG45 Targetmaster Hotrod - specifically the face (https://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/production-error-on-takara-tomy-transformers-legends-lg45-targetmaster-hot-rod/39766/). About half of them have some very noticeable bumps on the bottom of the lower lip, which could annoy people who spent a fair bit on importing it from Japan.
At least if you are in Japan, you could look for a good one at the store before you buy it.
