(it's a bit misleading having the TakaraTomy logo on the front of the box, in a more prominent position than the Hasbro logo at the bottom... and rather odd for Hasbro to do it... almost like TT have more control over the brand than we think)

Hmm might wait for some reviews regarding build quality first. I'd like a MP bee but he really needs to be distinct and better than the gazillion bee toys out there, with Human Alliance one of my favourites.

I'll be hard-pressed to say no to this one.

The official press release for the TLK product descriptions refers to figures in the MPM line:

Ehobbybaseshop have started pre-orders for the upcoming MPM Optimus (http://www.ehobbybaseshop.com/index.php?p=6&ev=&id=1222)and Bumblebee (http://www.ehobbybaseshop.com/index.php?p=6&ev=&id=1223).

They ain't cheap. :( I'll wait for HLJ or Hobby Search to list.

I saw them there as well, but they are usually pretty good with being about RRP and within $5-10 of RK.

And these are Hasbro versions, so shouldn't show up on HLJ or Japanese dealers... they are just confusing us with the numbering that follows from the Japanese Movie MPs.
TakaraTomy are likely to release them later themselves, but we don't know when, how much, and if they will be different to the Hasbro versions. (or they might just be like the regular Movie toys and be the Hasbro products with TakaraTomy stickers on the packaging).

Really? All the promo pics of the box have Takara branding as well as Hasbro.

That's the other odd thing about these, is that they are definitely Hasbro products (both have been officially announced by Hasbro in press releases) and haven't been displayed or mentioned by TakaraTomy anywhere yet... but they have on them, TakaraTomy branding, and follow on from the TakaraTomy Movie Masterpiece numbering.

So I think that it will be like the regular Movie toys, in that these will be released in Japan as-is... but we don't know when yet, or how much TakaraTomy will charge for them.

(and honestly, I'd be really disappointed if that happens, just as I've been disappointed that they have been releasing the Hasbro Movie toys unchanged, because that was one thing we could always look forward to with the Japanese versions of Hasbro toys - all the extra touch ups and paint details to make them more screen accurate, or just to have more paint on them to begin with... something they don't appear to be doing this time)

Whether it'll end up being different to the Hasbro one is hard to judge now. The one they show here is slightly different, but it's probably just a later prototype. Still... the lead on these two seem to be by Hasbro so far (we even have their approximate release dates), despite the products looking and sounding like TT products.

Sorry to necro-bump but does anyone know if mpm03 bumblebee is...actually painted?

The initial model was but so far from tokyo toy show and last hasbro events he looks very much like yellow plastic, if that's the case my need to drop him as it looks bleh

I wouldnt be expecting paint, as the mp line seems to have dropped it for the most part. The preview toys were possibly painted prototypes.

Uh, I know mp shockwave lacked paint but pretty much everything else after him is drenched in the stuff, like mp36...oh boy the ONE transformer design that is not paint friendly :S

I just want to use bee as a car model with an actual chevvy like paint job :c

It's the second half of June, and we had a release for MP Bumblebee of June-July, and sure enough, it's now out... first found at a ToysRUs store in Singapore (http://news.tfw2005.com/2017/06/18/takara-mpm-03-masterpiece-bumblebee-singapore-342099).
It was S$140, which is about AU$135... or about US$100 (which is 25% more than its US retail price of US$80, so if it comes here, expect a minimum of $130).

If it was, it'd be a tru exclusive, but the guys in shops have no clue (spoke to a manager at a local one and they only know but what comes in via the load, unless catalogs say otherwise).

But the little toy company online shop has a pre-order and they're melbourne based so if that floats your boat go for it

Just paid my invoice to Chimungmung which means it's in stock and will be shipped shortly! Love the way the top of the car folds in on itself and tucks away inside his bot mode to avoid ugly backpack syndrome. Best version yet.

My mpm03 arrived today from hlj, handles beautifully, paint work reminds me of hasbro's bluestreak (far from perfect but passable at a distance), but what really got me was this, did hlj announce they were giving these away?

Yep it was packed into the box (as in mpm03!), the box was double taped (which worried me, last doubled taped mp was mp ramjet...oh boy) so if you see that MAYBE he has a gold leader class shield :D

All I did initially was pre-order tlk caliber optimus and bumblebee, later on I bought a tlk slag...but only a week before I shipped it, did I get lucky?

If yours has the battle blade sword, it should be visible at the top of the box.
WOW, looks like someone went insane, I didn't even open my caliber optimus prime and I can see the bonuses, I knew he'd come with that sword (the small orange one), I was thinking more about the regular knight like sword but seeing how that's meant for the voyager makes sense this one has its own leader sized one...

But guess what, I GOT 2 OF THOSE GOLD SHIELDS, its hard to see but in my tlk caliber optimus prime there is another gold shield.

Tell people, if your leaders or mpm's are double taped IT'LL HAVE THE GOLD SHIELD INSIDE if its from hlj!

There has been one comparison, sadly last one I've seen was via one of the international based facebook pages and thats ages ago to junt upright link you so I'll drop what I do remember.

No stickers on box to replace japanese text as the box has been reprinted, but its just the warning info underneath (so it matches past mp boxes) and character name text boxes,the gimmick info is still in english despite these changes

-toy itself
Biggest visual change is the clear pieces in the headlights and robot head are straight up clear (hasbro has them tinted blue) and SOME of the tampographed info on the back of the car doors has been removed, basically just the big main number remains

If there are more deco differences I couldn't make out from the pictures supplied nor could I understand from what was posted, but they're essentially the same so get whatever works for you, sad thing is I'm a completionist so now I need a takara mpm04 to match and he's alot harder to get -_-

So my Takara MPM-3 arrived today. I've got to say Bumblebee was a really pleasant surprise. He looks good in car mode, bot mode looks great and the transformation was enjoyable.

I have read that this Takara version is supposed to have more of a metallic finish than the Hasbro version, but I couldn't really notice it much. The light piping for the eyes works very well. The gap in his arm blaster is a little annoying though but that's about the only nitpick I have.

I'm not really a fan of the Bayverse in general but I am surprised at just how much I like this figure. Bring on Barricade!

So my second Takara MPM-3 arrived today. Looks very cool having one in bot mode, one in car mode & G1 Bumblebee standing next to it.

When opening the box just be careful with the tape - it has a tendency to rip off some of the box art with it.

Now to complete the display I just need one more G1 Bumble for car mode. Do I order now or wait for the reissue in Feb '18?

I just use a knife and slice the tape, not that I care too much about the boxes since I pulled one of those horrible security stickers off a second hand mp ultra magnus, should of seen the gash it made.

As for the g1 bee unless you can get it cheaper wait for the reissue, not only will it have that spiffy design award logo but least you know it'll be the official one and not a bootleg
