Sets for 2017 SDCC are popping up and some of them are looking pretty cool.
In particular, there is a Revolutionaries (http://news.tfw2005.com/2017/07/10/first-look-san-diego-comic-con-2017-exclusive-revolution-toy-package-343621)set based upon the IDW comics which has:
Transformers – Jetfire
GI Joe – Roadblock
MASK – Matt Tracker
Action Man – Action Man
Rom The Space Knight
Rom – Dire Wraith
Visionaries – Leoric
Micronauts – Assorted Minis
Whilst the other two are older news, I will add them here for ease of reference:
The Last Knight Voyager Optimus Prime (http://news.tfw2005.com/2017/06/06/sdcc-2017-transformers-last-knight-optimus-prime-exclusive-340841)
Primitive Skateboarding Optimus Prime and Shreddicus Maximus (https://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/sdcc-2017-exclusive-primitive-skateboarding-optimus-prime-and-shreddicus-maximus-in-hand/38770/)

If that set had a new transformers mould, or at least an interesting repaint in it, I'd be very interested. or if it had no Jetfire and was half the price I'd still be pretty interested. It's an extremely cool idea.

This boxset homages the current IDW universe, which has Tracker being black. If the boxset homaged the 1980s universe(s), the toy would be white... but some people on the foreign fansites have an issue with the colour change, as if this toy is "wrong". They are not noticing or caring that this toy is actually accurate to the IDW comic universe, and if they have a problem with the colour change, they should have made a fuss in the comic news or reviews topics.
Reboots often do that these days, because of the over-white, over-male representation (with maybe a token black guy at the back and a female who often needs rescuing) of 20th century comics, cartoons and their associated toys.
As long as the story is good, and the character traits are the same or better), what difference does it make what colour or gender the main characters are (provided they don't make it a political issue or a plot device, which detracts from the integrity of the overall story arc).

I am not quite sold on Jetfire as the transformer in the group. I probably would have preferred Arcee or Soundwave but I am still going to try get the set as I loved the shared universe comics that IDW is doing.

Jetfire doesn't appear to play a significant role in Revolutions, so I wonder why they have him included as the "Transformers representative".
It would make more sense to have Thundercracker (the same base mould if they wanted a Leader sized jet) or even Optimus (since the other two SDCC sets have Optimus in them this year).

You know, if it had been Thundercracker I probably would have bitten, especially if it came with a Buster.

I remember when the RDM BSG first was aired in Australia a lady I worked with was really upset that the all male white Viper pilot cast of the original (except for the token black guy) was changed to have female pilots. You would think a woman would be happy that women are being properly represented, but no.
Anyway, I really hope Hasbro can use MASK coming back to reissue the original toys. I really want both Matt Trakker's car and truck as brand shiny new reissue. Still at least with the exception of a few outliers vintage MASK toys are not horribly over priced on Ebay like Transformers.

Gee, it would never have occurred to me that they might have a problem with race. I was unfamiliar with the original toyline, and I just accepted the character as is. The only character I DID have a problem with was Miles Mayhem - he's just a tool and would be happy to sell out the human race.
I loved the original Visionaries toyline and comic, but I dont know that I want to pay that price for the figure...... if they are going to do a Visionaries toyline, surely they'd offer him again, right?
Oh and the dire wraith is a remoulded GI Joe zombie figure I am sure.

See, that makes sense. I'm so far behind with the comics I need it spelt out to me like that. Now I can stop wondering why Matt isn't Matt from the 80's cartoon.
Carry on.

By using Jetfire Hasbro are probably just giving the middle finger to Harmony Gold after that fiasco a few years ago with the GI Joe crossover set.
God knows HG deserve it.

Nice set, but there's to much chaff inside for me to bite.

Actually the Matt Tracker in the set is a retool of an earlier Gijoe/Matt Tracker who was more in line with the 80's series.

Was thinking that myself. Well, not the biting part. The whole Revolution thing has been IDWs biggest mistake yet. Just that it should be Thundercracker in there.

Is this an indicator that not all nostalgia for characters a specific way is sexist or racist. just sayin:D:cool:

Yeah I would defininitely buy that. Does anyone know of a toyline that would be a good size match (1/18th) and looks busterish? I want to find one for my Thundercracker now, lol

This is borderline useless but i did see on Instagram someone with the generations leader thundercracker i think and a little dog that kinda resembled Buster. I think they just found it by looking for small toy dogs or something. Not that helpful but there are some things out there. I'm surprised there hasn't been a 3rd party add-on kit already.

These (http://www.schleichtoystore.com/SearchResults.php)are the toy animals you see on dedicated stands in toy shops.
I wouldn't know where else to look

I want that GI Joe Roadblock... maybe the Visionaries figure as well.
Everything else, especially Jetfire, I couldn't care less about.
I just feel that Jetfire's a poor choice for this set... kinda dampens the hype for me...

Thanks UltraMarginal there are quite a few dogs to choose from but I think the dog from "Feeding on the farm" set will be perfect. Gotta track down a store that has them now.

I'd like to see how it looks when you get one. I'm short a Thundercracker as well so I'll probably not have either in the long run.

So they wanted a large transformer mold. I think Jetfire is more iconic than Thundercracker to non-transformers fans. So why pick him over Soundwave? Well Jetfire just looks 80s, he even looks a bit Robotech for people even more out of the loop. Plus SDCC has had JF previously as if that means anything.
I think JF was a good SDCC choice, just not for the TF collectors (but his ears are different) who have him already.

Because "diversity" - I'm honestly glad to see that Dwayne McDuffie isn't alive to see what his brilliant legacy of Milestone Comics has turned into with the blatant diversity bending of characters of the sake of it in the comics industry. It disrespects franchises and it sends a patronising message that the only way <x minority> can have meaningful and profound characters inspiring and representing them is by hijacking existing characters. It honestly cheapens everyone.
Anyway, back on topic, the only figures that possibly interest me there are Leoric, ROM and Dire Wraith.

I was thinking about doing that also. But given how quick many of the SDCC items from previous years go down in price on ebay I'm going to wait and see what happens. Got the TR Brainstorm, SP and Windblade set for under $100AUD last year.
