Botch's Box Art Archive (http://www.botchthecrab.com/archive/) had recently obtained another large batch of unobstructed box art. This time from the 1984-1987 lines. Botch is an old buddy of mine and runs a site which serves the fandom by providing us with unobstructed box art images, instruction and tech spec scans of almost every G1 Transformer out there.

This new batch is seriously huge and I'm sure there's ample room to contribute. If you have the requisit photoshop skills, pop over and check out whether any character interests you.

See the Help the Archive section here (http://www.botchthecrab.com/archive/help.asp).

Botch acknowledges any assistance. The previous bunch of us who helped edit many Headmaster scans, were acknowledged here (http://www.botchthecrab.com/replies.asp?index=463).

What exactly are "the requisit photoshop skills"?

I might be able to lend a hand, depending on how much time it takes.

Thanks for considering this Tober!

According to Botch in the 'Help the Archive Section', "Edits should be on a white background in JPG format, unless it's a Pretender, in which case, contact me. Only experienced image editors, please! You know who you are."

It usually involves cropping the image out of the background and touching it up where necessary. Touch ups are only necessary when for example the scan did not turn up colours evenly or when say the base image is scratched or if there is grime or dirt on the base image that got scanned in.

An example where touch up was necessary. (http://heroicdecepticon.blogspot.com/2007/07/blastin-with-blasters-box-art.html)

An example where little or no touch up is needed. (http://heroicdecepticon.blogspot.com/2005/09/laserbeak-mint-on-card.html)

In any event, I think it'd be good to contact Botch directly to iron out the details. :D

Botch's site helped the TF wiki quite alot with the scans he has available.

It's too bad there's no similar archive for Euro and G2 art, which is quite difficult to track down compared to G1 art.

I'm an advocate of Botch's site - it's been around at least 10 years, and I've had it listed on the fan resource guide (outdated page of links) for most of that time.
