After Hasbro acquired Wizards of the Coast gaming company about 20 years ago, they've finally decided to apply it to one of their own biggest toy Brands - Transformers.

The official announcement hasn't been made yet, but a magazine article says that it should be out around September/October 2018.

Some sample images and details can be seen here (http://news.tfw2005.com/2017/12/27/new-wizards-coast-transformers-trading-card-game-2018-355946).

The article features an interview with Wizards Of The Coast President Chris Cocks who revealed plans for a brand new Transformers themed next fall.
The game hasn’t been formally announced yet, but Cocks says it’s a title aimed both at young teens and the collector and toy audience. It will come out in September or October. “We think Transformers are cool and the game has interesting, unique mechanics,” he says. “All cards are two-sided, over-sized and feel bigger, weightier in your hand.” Cocks says the game has a relatively light learning curve, but a lot of depth. “It should take one or two times to understand how to play,” he says.
The game, which has a unique rule set, is built around two decks. One of the decks is a hero deck and the other is a powers and abilities deck used to “amp up heroes.” The strategy around play, he says, is to choose the right hero with the right abilities and powers. They’re also considering making a digital version of the game, once it launches, depending on how it is received. “Transformers will be brand new to Wizards.”

Pretty sure the art for those samples was already used in the mobile game Transformers Legends.

Pretty sure the art for those samples was already used in the mobile game Transformers Legends.

It's possible that art was recycled for this game, or just recycled for this article... or just done by the same team/company that did the Legends art, giving a similar appearance.

The art is absolutely recycled.

http://tfwiki.net/wiki/File:TFLegendsApp-Megatron.jpg

The article makes it clear that the art is from the Wizards game, so I guess Hasbro has run out of artist???:p

Why not recycle the art? Only the game players saw it and many players gave up on the game before it finishes. And it's good art. I would be happy if they released a set of trading cards without the gameplay just of the art.

Meanwhile it's taken a long time for a TF CCG to really come along. I remember the fan games from like 20 years ago, one using playing cards as a base. I even have sketches of cards I was coming up with (along the lines of Magic and the SW CCG) back in the late 90s!

Once upon a time I used to play Magic The Gathering. I think I might buy a pre-constructed deck when the game comes out and play a few casual games to see what it's like.

I emailed the game company back when the app was going, asking if the art would be released as normal cards but never got a response. However some of the cards from the Combiner Wars toy cards used that same art. Makes sense they would reuse it again as a lot of it’s quite good.

I feel the same - I’d like a set of the cards I could put in a collectors album rather than play a game with.

Speaking of which, I was kinda surprised I had that many TF cards I almost filled the TF card album that got released a few months ago. Given they are going to do cards with POTP toys I might have to buy a second and they ain’t real cheap.

The art looks interesting, but no way in hell would I buy any online card packs if I do collect it. WOTC clearly regard digital packs as an online game subscription and their T&C, as evidenced by the whole recent MTG Jeremy Hamby debacle, are problematic because, as Know Your Meme User OgreOnAStick (http://knowyourmeme.com/users/ogreonastick) put it (http://knowyourmeme.com/comments/4139452):

For me, it is about WOTC overreach creating a precedent that allows them to police behaviour outside their area of influence and remove peoples ability to participate in a hobby for completely unrelated reasons.

griffin

I agree with the comments about it being okay to have the recycled art, because I too wouldn't mind collecting these for the art (like regular collector cards)... and maybe play it once or twice.
Hopefully they don't have too much of it being released as exclusives or limited release... like, having to buy a whole heap of duplicates just to get the really nice looking cards.

While it would be nice ti have a decent TF card or board game, I refuse to buy into a collectible card game again, they are too much of a money sink, and I already have collecting toys, models and games already. CCG's are that one extra line I don't want to cross.

Hasbro has registered a Trademark for Transformers in the card game category (http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/01/22/hasbro-applies-transformers-trading-card-game-trademark-357138), possibly for this upcoming Transformers battle card game.

Looks like the official unveiling of the new Transformers trading card game from WOTC will be at SDCC later this month, and Hasbro have released information and promo images (http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/07/10/transformers-trading-card-game-from-wizards-of-the-coast-details-and-images-367155).

TRANSFORMERS TCG from Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast to Launch Later in 2018; Fans to Get Sneak Peek with Convention Edition Item at San Diego Comic-Con and Gen Con
PAWTUCKET, RI AND RENTON, WA–JULY 10, 2018 –Hasbro, Inc (https://www.hasbro.com/en-us/)., a global play and entertainment company, and Wizards of the Coast (http://www.wizards.com),a subsidiary of Hasbro and the publishers of the seminal trading card game Magic: The Gathering, provided more details today about a trading card game inspired by Hasbro’s iconic TRANSFORMERS franchise: the TRANSFORMERS Trading Card Game. Designed for players ages 8 and up, the TRANSFORMERS Trading Card Game will be available for purchase in the United States and certain other markets later in 2018.
The TRANSFORMERS Trading Card Game is a fast, easy-to-learn action battling card game designed for two players. Players build a team of TRANSFORMERS character cards and power them up with a customizable deck of battle cards. TRANSFORMERS character cards are huge – character cards in the AUTOBOTS Starter Set and Booster Packs are twice the size of standard playing cards, and can be flipped from bot mode to alt mode and back – and feature premium printing treatment on one of their sides. The deck of battle cards features Action and Upgrade cards to enhance TRANSFORMERS character cards.
“The TCG format lets us pull TRANSFORMERS characters from across the brand’s massive history. From Bumblebee to Sunstorm – the game is digging deep into the TRANSFORMERS lore,” said Drew Nolosco, TRANSFORMERS Trading Card Game Brand Manager. “We can even focus on different aspects of the same character. Optimus Prime, for example, is immensely powerful in combat, but he’s also a master tactician. The Transformers TCG will let players explore the characters’ depth through engaging and tactical gameplay.”
At launch, TRANSFORMERS fans can look forward to the following:
· AUTOBOTS Starter Set – The AUTOBOTS Starter Set contains cards for two players to begin gameplay, and features OPTIMUS PRIME, BUMBLEBEE, IRONHIDE and RED ALERT character cards. It will be available for purchase at retailers in the United States beginning on Sept. 28, 2018, and in certain other markets later in 2018.
· TRANSFORMERS Trading Card Game Booster Packs – Players can add to their character card teams and battle card decks for full gameplay with Booster Packs. Each Booster Pack contains 1 TRANSFORMERS character card and 7 battle cards from a pool of 40 character cards and 81 battle cards. Booster Packs will be sold separately and available for purchase at retailers in the United States beginning on Sept. 28, 2018, and in certain other markets later in 2018.
Fans can get a first look at four cards for the TRANSFORMERS Trading Card Game in July with the TRANSFORMERS Trading Card Game Convention Edition. Limited quantities will be available for purchase at Comic-Con International 2018 in San Diego, Gen Con 2018 in Indianapolis and through the Hasbro Toy Shop at HasbroToyShop.com, where available, after the conventions. The TRANSFORMERS Trading Card Game Convention Edition contains two TRANSFORMERS character cards (CLIFFJUMPER – RENEGADE WARRIOR and SLIPSTREAM – STRATEGIC SEEKER) and two battle cards (All-Out Attack and Tandem Targeting System) not available in the AUTOBOTS Starter Set or the TRANSFORMERS Trading Card Game Booster Packs.

The official release date is September 28th, and after a few months of having their official facebook page set to private (people need to join to see the releases of details and images), it is now public with all the images available in the gallery (https://www.facebook.com/TransformersTCG/), along with setting up pages on Twitter (https://twitter.com/TransformersTCG) and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/transformerstcg/).

So far there looks to be a Starter Pack (https://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/transformers-trading-card-game-autobot-starter-set-decklist/41673/) (from the Hasbro site (https://transformers.hasbro.com/en-us/tradingcardgame/starter)), an SDCC exclusive pack (http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/07/10/transformers-trading-card-game-from-wizards-of-the-coast-details-and-images-367155), a Metroplex expansion deck (http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/09/07/the-metroplex-deck-transformers-tcg-expansion-set-details-371421), and regular blind booster packs (includes rare cards like this one of Optimus (http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/09/05/hasbros-leaked-from-cybertron-optimus-primes-transformers-trading-card-371275) and upgrade cards like these (https://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/more-new-upgrade-cards-for-the-official-transformers-trading-card-game/41860/)). If the cards end up being popular, there will no doubt be other special packs and follow up series.
There looks to be a total of 121 cards (https://transformers.hasbro.com/en-us/tradingcardgame/booster) available in the booster packs (40 character cards and 81 battle cards), in addition to the cards in the special packs. Each booster pack will have a foil character card and 7 battle cards. Most booster packs contain a "rare" card, while 1 in every 79 packs has a "super rare".

Hasbro have also posted up three youtube videos on how to play the game - here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ul3K2bBgooY) - here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fZqYErJEvY) - here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOdk6TFNf-U)... as well as a pdf of the game rules (https://www.hasbro.com/common/documents/dad2d6781c4311ddbd0b0800200c9a66/882A026A63734809B40F2FEE87E5A012.pdf).

for those looking for storage solutions, especially the jumbo cards you best bet is the 3.5"x51/8" top loaders, this will also protect them in gameplay.

Ultrapro (https://www.ultrapro.com/product_info.php?products_id=1389) or BCW (https://www.bcwsupplies.com/3-5x5-topload-holder) brands are your best bets both reputable, but ebay or possible custom order through your local gaming/card store is your only way to get them, most stores wont stock a lot of the Jumbo Storage

not sure, i imagine in a folder with other cards on top it would supress the curl, but ideally i think we need somthing like the top loader

I think US$15 translates to about $21 right now, so it wouldn't hurt to knock a couple of dollars off. But Australian retailers are paying much higher shipping costs to get the product to their stores than their US counterparts, so I don't think it's too bad.

It's minor enough to not bother about it. Pokemon / mtg / yu-gi-oh is where the games are at. They're smart to keep them to a standard size.

Then you also have a folder and storage box issue too.

BTW, check the curl on foil slammer.

I do have a positive comment, the art looks pretty good, but yea, without a viable storage solution it'll be hard to collect, which is a shame because people would collect these for the g1 style art.

you will find that most protection and supplies companies already have products that will suit, trouble is finding them stocked here in Australia or getting them shipped here without costing a fortune.

Wow, nice one Trev!

Have you started looking for something that can sleeve that Metroplex card?

for Metroplex try something like this
https://www.bcwsupplies.com/6x8-topload-holder

the character cards

they will fit in ultra pro 4 pocket pages but you still suffer slight curling of the foils as the pages are not rigid enough to keep the cards flat

BCW has a toploader for the character cards but these are on back order until January (either a new product or out of stock)

https://www.bcwsupplies.com/3-5x5-topload-holder

the battle cards will fit standard trading card product but ultrapro are releasing TF Themed deck protectors and deck boxes and play mats towards the end of the month/beginning of December

i am aware that Toybot Importz may be stocking some of the gaming Accesories

but for the specialist items as i mentioned above sourcing them here in Aus may be problematic, possibility we may need to enquire through local authorised distributors for either Ultrapro or BCW

UltraPro = Banter Toys
BCW = VR Distribution

The official release date of the Metroplex set is November 21st (in America), but was already found early over there last week (http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/11/15/transformers-trading-card-game-metroplex-deck-out-at-u-s-retail-376538).
We had the cards released here soon after America, so the Metroplex set could be out here within the month as well.

Release date was Officially moved forward to November 16 this included Aus

for Metroplex try something like this
https://www.bcwsupplies.com/6x8-topload-holder
Has anyone tried that yet? would be perfect if its a good size match.

BCW has a toploader for the character cards but these are on back order until January (either a new product or out of stock)

https://www.bcwsupplies.com/3-5x5-topload-holder
Still waiting to hear back from my guy if he can get these in.

the battle cards will fit standard trading card product but ultrapro are releasing TF Themed deck protectors and deck boxes and play mats towards the end of the month/beginning of December
If they are like the TF deck boxes and folders they released earlier in the year I'll have to skip. Bought a whole batch and the quality was terrible.

Thanks for the info Sharkie.

Time to grab my Metroplex Set.

FYI, Thew from Thew's Awesome Transformers Reviews is giving away some of these card packs:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y410Jpa5qm8

You have til the 24th November.

Its a global competition which is easy enough; like Thew's Facebook page, find the post and comment 'PARTY CARD!' and that's it.

in the tweet about the release date change they also listed the dimensions of the Titan Size Card

so the theory is it should fit.

The ultra pro 4 pocket pages for the normal character cards are best and may be found in some gaming stores or ask and the may special order in otherwise eBay is your best bet 10 pages for $8 or so

And for metroplex just a Ultra Pro one page protector although it doesn’t fit nice

They really don’t like to keep Things simple do they? At least they should be easier to store as they are regular size cards. Too bad if you want to display them as a combined though, no way they’ll ever make a sleeve for that!:D

Sharky

I think it is a novel way to utilise the combining feature, plenty of storage solutions out there just here in this backwater country no stores stock the stuff if it was America you could walk into any LCS for a full range or protection products

Some people have been complained about the smaller character card size and saying the should of been the same size As previous but then your combined form will be massive.

Game play will be interesting

Is there an actual competitive scene for this anywhere? I know a local card store had a few rounds of this going pre metroplex but attendance was so poor they canned it.

I have not even opened any of the packs or metroplex set the wife bought me for Xmas and I won’t until I can either be bothered buying the oversized sleeves. I don’t have the time or energy to try and get into another card game, normanyone to play against.

The folding element of the combiners worries me, as that will create a point of weakness on the cards - the more you fold a piece of paper or card, the sooner it will actually separate along that fold like perforated paper. That said, it is a nice way of showing the three modes of the combiners though.

Not sure if they tweeted this as well, but the combination requires an sixth Enigma card to be played (http://news.tfw2005.com/2019/01/10/transformers-trading-card-game-wave-2-rise-of-the-combiners-expansion-pack-announced-predaking-cards-images-380627), and just at the right time (when all five bots are present in robot mode).

I think if WOTC are creating uniquely shaped cards or combinations in any of their card games, they should be the ones producing storage items (like sleeves) that can accommodate them. Like ones that are specifically sized for the character and Metroplex cards, and a five slot sleeve for the Combiner cards, if one wanted to store them in that way, so that you can see all three modes of each character.

For me, I think the main complaint is that the original character cards should have been this size to begin with.

Then they'd all match and unfolding makes the combiner bigger, as it should be.

Hoping beyond hope that Abominus is in this set.

The second of six combiners has been officially revealed (http://news.tfw2005.com/2019/01/21/transformers-trading-card-game-wave-2-rise-of-the-combiners-volcanicus-fiery-champion-cards-images-381193) - Dinobots, using the Dinobot enigma, to form Volcanicus (using the concept, names and appearance from POTP).
The Combiners wave of cards will be released March 1st (globally).

With only four more combiners to be included, who are they likely to be?
Devastator is out, as these require five cards/characters... which is likely to rule out the Seacons too (to be fair, even though they fit the formula, there would be complaints if one was left out... but it would be a novel gaming option to have a sub for the team, but the combined art on the back of the cards would only allow for one character slot (limb) to be subbed out).
That leaves Defensor, Superion, Menasor, Bruticus, Computron and Abominus of the original series combiners. My guess is the first four.

It’s a shame the did Volcanicus - never liked the Dinobots as combiners but given Predaking and V were opponents in last years online cartoon I guess it makes sense.

I reckon this will also mean Abominus will be one of the four still to be announced as those were the most recent combiner team toys to be released

Fingers are crossed for Abominus. Maybe being part of the same wave as Volcanicus and Predaking will help?

Still, all artwork of the individual components have been taken from the legends mobile card game and the Protectobots, Combaticons, Stunticons and Aerialbots, all have multiple card art to choose from. Not all of the Technobots got a card, and some of the Terrorcons only got one card... so while possible, given that they normally pair against the Technobots, this might rule them out?

TFW mentioned it on both their Predaking reveal and Volcanicus reveal... but I haven't found it mentioned on any original source link yet.

There are only 46 cards in this new series, but that's enough for 9 teams (45)... plus Windblade, which was also revealed (https://www.kotaku.com.au/2019/01/five-transformers-trading-cards-combine-to-form-predaking/)... but I would imagine that there would be other new, non-combiner characters in the new series.

The third team has been revealed - Stunticons (https://news.tfw2005.com/2019/01/24/transformers-trading-card-game-reveal-stunticons-individual-cards-381529)... who form Menasor (https://news.tfw2005.com/2019/01/24/trading-card-game-reveal-menasor-menacing-colossus-and-booster-packs-box-381519).
Unfortunately for the Gen1 fans, the team is made up of the original Combiner Wars team, which has Offroad in place of Wildrider.... probably because they needed to use the Combiner Wars Menasor art, which forced them to use Offroad in this team as well.

Looks like Devastator is a likely option then, as the fourth team has been revealed - Optimus Maximus (https://news.tfw2005.com/2019/01/30/transformers-trading-card-game-reveal-optimus-maximus-ultimate-defender-cards-381952) (the white Combiner Wars Optimus, with Deluxe Ironhide, Prowl, Sunstreaker and Mirage, plus the Hotrod chest-bot to make it a six member combiner).
That leaves two combiners left (if the six team detail is true), which I now think will be Devastator, and Superion.
Then you'd have Predaking Vs Volcanicus, Superion Vs Menasor, Devastator Vs Optmus Maximus.

Not too much fussed about the combiner series as there is no way I'm spending hundreds of dollars to get all of the combiner team member cards and end up with hundreds of duplicates... as we don't have enough collectors to have a trading community in this country.

Excellent opportunity, being one of the fans or fansites invited to reveal various second series cards (when you look at the previous reveals (https://news.tfw2005.com/transformers-trading-card-game), it's a mix and match of big name sites and unknown fans revealing different cards).

The images on your site are very small... did they give you bigger ones and you shrunk them down, or was that as big as they were giving out? (the ones already revealed have been different sizes, so it is hard to tell if Hasbro sent out all the images at the one size)

Yeah it was very kind of them. Originally I thought I was getting something sent to me like they did with the Metroplex pack (http://www.bigangrytrev.com/review-metroplex-pack-transformers-tcg/) but it turned out just to be some digital pics. Oddly, the hits for this reveal are proving far more prolific than the Metroplex review, about 750 views in the last 12 hours!

Admittedly for the sake up expediency I simply took pictures of the pics they sent me with my phone. But the files were quite small anyway, with the double-Dirge one being 687KB and the Defensive Driving one being 257KB. So I think if I had downloaded them from my email straight to the blog they would have been the same size anyway. And my blog tends to show all pics as the same size regardless.

At least the pics are quite clear, so if you are on a smart phone you can zoom in :)

More reveals from various sources (not just the official WOTC and Hasbro social media channels).
Superion, Aerialbots & their enigma card (https://news.tfw2005.com/2019/02/07/transformers-trading-card-game-reveal-superion-sky-protector-cards-382320) - just like Menasor, we have Alpha Bravo in place of Slingshot, due to their hands being tied by what's on the original combiner art.
Starscream (https://news.tfw2005.com/2019/02/08/transformers-trading-card-game-starscream-decepticon-king-card-revealed-382331) - using the Combiner Wars toy art, and because of the crown, he's labelled as "Decepticon King". (I thought Emperor would have seemed more fitting, particularly since there have been Decepticon Emperors in the past in the JP universe).
Bombshell (https://news.tfw2005.com/2019/02/07/transformers-trading-card-game-bombshell-psy-ops-card-revealed-382298) - Psy Ops function.

The Big Guy - Devastator (https://kotaku.com/it-takes-six-transformers-trading-cards-to-build-devast-1832450332)

And it was revealed by an Australian website too, which was pretty good for WOTC to orchestrate a more multi-national reveal of their previews, instead of it just being done through American news/fans sites.
Something that Hasbro could take notice of when they have a special event or fan-vote that only includes the American fansites.

With Devastator, that is apparently all six of the combiners. At first it seemed unlikely as they started revealing 5-member teams, but when the Optimus/Autobot 6-member team was revealed, it was obvious Devastator would be on of the six combiners.

I've also blogged about them (https://lisamaree.wordpress.com/2019/02/10/transformers-tcg-wave-2-battle-card-reveal/) but they seemed to be most popular on twitter and to a lesser extent Instagram.

I'm looking forward to these new sets with not only combiners but also triple changers!

Your blog posting was pretty good. I'll have to make sure I do a good job as well, to keep on the good side of Hasbro/Wizards.

Transformers Trading Card Game Series 2 Reveal - Dreadwing.

Just when you thought all of the Combiners were revealed for the upcoming Rise of the Combiners series of the Transformer Trading Card Game, we have been treated to

one more... but not a traditional Combiner team of 5 or 6 members.
This one only has two Robots, but they are still labelled as having a combiner mode.

http://www.toycollectors.com.au/news/2019/021103.jpg

Dreadwing is a combiner jet, formed by two Decepticons who were Powermasters in the original Transformers toyline.
Dreadwind makes up the front half, with the function of Air Defense.
Blackwing (originally Darkwing in the original toyline), makes up the back half, with the function of Aerial Attacker.
When combined, they take on the function of Sky Destroyer, boosting its stats, but it still carries any existing damage from Blackwing and Dreadwind.
Plus, unlike the larger combiner teams, you don't need an enigma card to combine these two, you just need to have both of them in robot mode on the battlefield or in your KO area.

http://www.toycollectors.com.au/news/2019/021101.jpg

http://www.toycollectors.com.au/news/2019/021102.jpg

They are both Common cards in the second series, and utilise the "Triple Changer" style cards, that can fold in half to allow for three modes of play - Robot mode, Alt-mode, Combiner mode.
As with most cards in the Trading Card Game, these two feature some amazing artwork of both characters, and of their combined mode.

Look out for these two when the Rise of the Combiners set of cards are released in March 2019, as they look like they will make a great addition to your deck.

A big thankyou to Wizards of the Coast for allowing Ozformers to have the third and final exclusive reveal of some Series 2 cards by Australian fansites.

This is pretty cool. Given that "Approximately 1 in 2 RISE OF THE COMBINERS Booster Packs contains a Character Card needed to form a Combiner character (https://wpn.wizards.com/en/products/transformers-tcg-rise-combiners)" this dude will probably be (by miles!) the easiest combiner to complete. :)

well considering Blackwing and Dreadwind are common Character cards its safe to assume you will get both in a booster box

Stunticons are Commons
Dinobots are Rare
Constructicons are rare
Optimus Maximus are Commons
Predaking are Uncommons
Aerialbots/Superion are Commons

Springer and Blitzwing are Super Rares along with King Starscream and Windblade

so some will be harder to complete then others...

I'm starting to think we need to watermark the pictures we post. I've discovered my reveal (http://www.bigangrytrev.com/exclusive-cards-reveal-dirge-and-defensive-driving-transformers-tcg/) on a YouTube video with no acknowledgement of where they got the info from, and I just saw this latest reveal on Seibertron with no mention that it was Ozformers that broke the story. I'm pretty sure Bladestorm has had similar issues too.

It's great the info is getting out and about, that is why we are being given these reveals after all, but it would be nice for all these other sites and youtubers that pick up the story to at least give some acknowledgement to where they sourced the info from and provide a link to our sites.

i didnt even know the Con Powermasters where on ozformers exclusive, i discovered them on twitter from another source not a single mention where from

You can always lodge a copyright infrigement to youtube and have the video taken down.

I know people have complained about it here before so should work :p

The official Trading Card Game facebook page shared our Ozformers post (https://www.facebook.com/TransformersTCG/posts/2008157315972750?__tn__=-R), and we are now on their (smallish) page likes listing. (yay :p )
The interesting thing that they note, is we revealed the last of the Combiners... which if true, means we won't see any others like Dreadwing, and it throws out the claim that there were 6 combiners, when in fact there were 7.

It should also be noted (which I haven't seen other fansites pick up on, or highlight), is that the Devastator team looks to be a special, separate deck pack (https://www.facebook.com/TransformersTCG/posts/2001160743339074?__xts__[0]=68.ARBTZYIobxcYPE3CSD_6hBh9jx6SlMzjUEbX3StPhflOxF qxFD6J0pybSDmGbke25NmqgQb0dpMA8yQgkJJjWMKG9RMBXvnM xta6fRs-D_VrnEDlJPvRSUwiBimtI5CMs5GUGlKwQhY_A4RfjgrcU-BdjEGGmAGLwXdUw2xaOLdPtwoj30NoONnNysss_91ki72l1cav SIY_flt3zoVIn6e1FVkuMwpMeGnQiQAu6V0o1HyO-fsLwAZimf29Z9OeygOUaOzOvStHrdvtWQjOTddrGTM5xZ1xVv6 rAk44GZ9JJeBFKg9pVaXGkFI4cIm2h4waWxeRUOD8L5-nPRyB3UnwqBYh&__tn__=-R) (like the Autobot starter pack for series 1), as it has a later release date (March 29th, after the series 2 booster packs being released March 1st), and noted by the official FB page as...

The Devastator Deck, a standalone deck product is demolishing shelves March 29th in most territories!I think that would make sense too, as it would make it easy for people to get a complete combiner during the "Combiner" series, without having to pay hundreds of dollars on booster packs (it could put off people from investing too much into series 2 if they don't think they could possibly get a full combiner team and Enigma card). Having one guaranteed combiner can encourage people to chase up more, or just allow people to buy booster packs without caring if they end up with incomplete teams). It also gives the retailers another boxed pack to sell with the booster packs during series 2.

Aaaand, after I typed all of that, I find this reply by the TCG facebook page to people noting that Devastator was the sixth combiner to be revealed...

Devastator is a standalone deck product. One more to go in the main set! That confirms my guess above, that Dreadwing is one of the six combiners to be released in the Booster packs, and Devastator is an extra combiner that didn't count, because it is being released exclusively as a separate pack.

And... they've released an app for the Trading Card Game (https://www.facebook.com/TransformersTCG/photos/a.1798870246901459/2006846526103829/?type=3&__xts__%5B0%5D=68.ARA33muQ1Ri6ykU8g3MntFrTAXVPFtT3 3OBIEtbC7-NNDAPEyXjS9Z_u8LBsXtjWWU3rYs24ensQI2Z0z0OTm7mqUkhn 7iqLUYlC4hwILMVAEdZ_Fk099Zln91A1ckI_4cd11wc7YGEpaO kMFokQ5BWHKlO9oH5t98rOLo4TKmwYPnUgoPFz2AEe2OOfpSSl xUPDmspH-hPHjsqF-rO_P3DdFX7jfzTpsvPzSev__SGLRrAZZvemk5dTWwBQMmGHeQk wnLBLJ9A042bgcBO56QcvjSNjMr6Jml36JklaZK5vKHPIx4A2f rm76kQ1q6nIjtARgSuIhnOXyjJdnLyIeaPTNRl-&__tn__=-R) called "Transformers TCG Companion App" for both apple and android. It has a card gallery, rules, FAQ and allows you to easily track what cards and teams you have.

It's great the info is getting out and about, that is why we are being given these reveals after all, but it would be nice for all these other sites and youtubers that pick up the story to at least give some acknowledgement to where they sourced the info from and provide a link to our sites.

At first I felt the same when I saw them on Seibertron, which credited the shared FB post done by the TCG page, and no mention of the original source... but then I realised that I did the same here with some of the reveals by linking to the TFW mirroring of the images (I use them and Seibertron because they are guaranteed to be there for as long as the sites exist (they aren't likely to disappear any time soon), but FB pages, twitter, instagram pages can come and go, based on how long the fan or business running it needs to spend time and money keeping them).

Aside from that... we shouldn't watermark other people's images, particularly official images - I don't like it when Seibertron and Robotkingdom do it, and I will only watermark images that belong to me (my photos, or collages I've done up of official images - and even then, I don't watermark over the object in the image). This goes for any official images Hasbro has given me in the past to share... I know that if I watermark them, I won't get any more official images from them, because they weren't mine to watermark. I'm just asked to share them out as much as possible - not to use them to advertise this site (the attention we get from sites that do credit us is just a bonus, which is basically our "payment" for doing Hasbro a favour).

If you find a site that has used the words in your review (quoted or reworded), then they should credit your posting, because that's your material.

If someone else along the way has watermarked the images for their site, then they will be judged by viewers who can find clean images elsewhere if they do a search.

Hasbro could have done all of the reveals through their own social media pages, but they wanted to use let others share in the fun and look more inclusive of the fans (and make it more of an easter egg hunt to find all of the reveals).

Please understand that I'm not telling anyone off... I think you both did a great job with your reveals, and the guys at Wizards/Hasbro are very happy with what all three of us delivered to help share these images.
Just don't get too upset about the "downstream" sites and reviews that don't make mention of your posting - it doesn't matter if you don't get 100% of the people viewing the images knowing the first source... after all, if you two got a big increase in traffic to your site like we did with our Ozformers FB posting, that's still a good result - and all those new people who now know about your site or page, some of them may stick around and read through your other stuff.

For me, it doesn't matter how many thousands of people out there now see and share the Dreadwing card images, having 8,000 of them check out my original FB posting in under 24 hours is good enough for me.

On a related note... the Seibertron news posting (https://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/dreadwing-soars-in-to-the-official-transformers-trading-card-game-and-app-launch/42916/) of the Dreadwing cards (that didn't mention Ozformers), did such a great review of the cards, I'm actually okay with not being credited or linked, as my review would have looked embarrassingly pathetic in comparison. If you have played with the TCG, or want to, have a read of that review, as it really breaks down the specific elements of these two cards. Even the comments by current players on the TFW news posting (https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/transformers-trading-card-game-series-2-reveal-dreadwing.1169235/), have been speculating the best usage of this pair of Decepticons, and how many are looking forward to being able to use them when they come out.

I hope it's not exclusive... but if it is a larger card it will be. They are going to be so expensive on the secondary market.... or you'll have to spend money on a box of crap to get it first hand.

there seems to be some confusion at the moment, it is a Lootcrate Exclusive item, in North America,

they are saying in UK and APAC to talk to your card providers about distribution

so i am not sure if it will be in a lootcrate if we order it or not in australia

$22 (aud) to get the crate to Australia right now (with discount code LOVE50).

Not bad, but hard to know how good a deal it will end up being when we don't know what the other methods of availability will be.

that is a pretty good price even if taking a gamble that the card is in the box

in response to my question on FB the Transformers card Game Account is checking into the Australian Posted release of of lootcrate, they seem to think it still should be included but are confirming

Transformers Trading Card Game Series 2 Reveal - Dreadwing.

Yeah, I took their post to mean that there would be other non-lootcrate options available in APAC to get this card?

I hope so, as Omega Supreme could be a sought after card if it has similar properties to Metroplex.

Just quoting the official facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/TransformersTCG/posts/2010411785747303) about the availability of the Omega Supreme card that Sharky was referring to above...

Clearing up some misinformation and confusion re: Omega Supreme and Lootcrate.
1. ***** Everyone who orders the current LootCrate prior to 9PM PST on 2/19 will receive an Omega Supreme - Autobot Defense Base card. It is not a random drop.*****
2. This is currently the only way Omega Supreme - Autobot Defense Base will made available in North America.
3. If you are in the EU or APAC regions, the card will be available via alternative means that will be communicated to WPN stores very soon.
4. The full, unobscured card images are attached here.
UPDATE: Customers in EU and APAC regions that order the basic Lootcrate will receive the Omega Supreme - Autobot Defense Base card, though it will also be available via alternative means.
UPDATE 2: Omega Supreme - Autobot Defense Base is only available in the basic Lootcrate. The Lootcrate DX has a Transformers product in it, but it is not TCG-related.

So if you do sign up for the loot crate to get Omega Surpreme, it is only in the basic one.

Also, an official image of the separate Devastator pack was posted up on TFW (https://cdn11.bigcommerce.com/s-ua4dd/images/stencil/1280x1280/products/35004/72748/WOCC6335_l__07418.1550173605.jpg?c=2&imbypass=on&imbypass=on), but no source was noted, so I'm not sure where from, as I haven't seen it in a news post yet. The pack was on display at NY Toyfair though (https://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/images-of-predaking-and-devastator-transformers-trading-card-game-packs-from-new-york-toy-fair-2019-tfny/42947/).

So basically it'll be available at Good Games.

I wonder what TF product will be in the DX Lootcrate... I'm guessing a t-Shirt?

For those who are playing this, how long does it usually take for you to play out a game, usually? And is it something that is interesting to watch as a spectator?

I'm just wondering if we should try to do up some game days if there is enough people in close proximity to each other... and if we had a competition, I'd want it to still be worth watching by those who are not playing, or knocked out of the competition.
(I still haven't gotten around to trying it out... but not sure how much time I should set aside to give it a go.)

depends on your deck builds and your opponents, experience level etc etc

15-20 minutes on a basic build or starter deck up to around 30 minutes I guess

Apparently this was posted up (https://news.tfw2005.com/2019/02/23/transformers-trading-card-game-chinese-new-year-bumblebee-p1-promotional-card-384018) on the closed (https://www.facebook.com/groups/transformerstcg/permalink/2070016463033840/) official TFs Trading Card game facebook page (where they revealed things before posting it up on their open page).... a Chinese New Year golden Bumblebee character card, released only in Malaysia. It's in Chinese, so won't be released outside of Asia, and is said to only be meant for the launch of the card game in Asian markets, in Chinese.
The golden Bumblebee card, and the new Omega Supreme card, are both free gifts if you pre-order an entire booster pack box from that site. With 30 packs in a box, the pre-order price is about AU$117 (almost AU$4 per pack).
Considering the prices that those two free gifts will fetch on the secondary market, they could pretty much pay for the booster pack box... but I don't think there would be too many people wanting to buy 30 booster packs who wouldn't be interested in those two extremely rare cards (the Bumblebee card is probably so limited it doesn't even have a rarity rating on it).

these will be good to protect your cards in the interim from scratches etc but I think something more rigid is still required

and if the toploaders do ever make it here these sleeves will fit inside to offer extra protection

they also still fit in the 4 pocket pages from ultra pro once sleeved

yeah they are a great fit, it just isn't a rigid product to prevent the curling on the foils. worth the cost for protection

I am curious how this will be handled in the series 2 product with the foldable cards

Could you go to the comic shop and buy the backing cards for the comics and cut them to size, slip them into the sleeve?

you could do that but then you would only seeing one side of the card

also you might as well use the cardboard dummies in the packs

Oh that reminds me, I'd just assumed everyone had seen these.

I'll use the same sturdy sleeves we're using for series 1 and not fold them, using these:

For those interested in buying a Combiners series box, Games Empire is selling them for a good price which "Comes with a Buy a Box Promo for a limited time!"

Not sure what the promo is, maybe the SDCC pack, Omega Supreme or something else entirely?

If no one knows, I will let you all know when it gets here in a day or two.

Edit: Sharky mentioned (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showpost.php?p=606546&postcount=4) Omega came with a box purchase at Good Games

Considering how much the first starter pack is shelfwarming here, they probably need the extra time before releasing the second starter pack.

I'm surprised that these aren't stocked with the Pokemon and yugioh cards. Putting these in with the action figures seems to be a silly idea.

Wow, they are pumping these out.

Good to see they are adding support and tournaments.

Shame they aren't improving the quality though.

Also, my usual store sold out of the Devastator set before I could get one... Do we hope it's getting more popular, or they ordered less?

It really amazes me that there are people spending so much time on this game, that they are able to construct battle decks to include just the right cards to compliment certain character cards... and even teams with specially constructed battle decks, for competitive gaming.
But in realising that, it doesn't surprise me that with the hundreds of different cards with different functions now out for the Transformers TCG, it is possible to create "God decks", or near-invincible team/deck, that has the designers resorting to the drastic action of retiring (prohibiting) the use of a Wave 1 card in competitive gaming, due to its role in a chain of cards, that in almost all situations, creates an infinite attack that prevents your opponent from even having a turn before they are defeated. (it was noted that there are some exceptions, but it was deemed rare, and an infinite attack scenario spoils the fun of this game.

The card in question is Swap Parts, and on its own it isn't that significant, but played in conjunction with other upgrade and repeat cards, it made it possible to play out a scenario that the designers didn't originally foresee, but of the various options at hand, it was deemed that the least confusing option was to retire/prohibit one of the key cards in this attack pattern.
There is a bit to read (https://news.tfw2005.com/2019/04/17/transformers-trading-card-game-new-rules-regarding-the-infinite-combo-deck-387122), but it is worth the read for being quite fascinating to get an insight into the inner workings of the game - it originally came from facebook but was mirrored at that link, so that it doesn't disappear later when the facebook post or page disappears.

So I was finally going through some of the cards that my son has and realised that they have used the same card a couple times across Waves 1 & 2. For instance, Wave 1 34 Handheld Blaster is exactly the same was Wave 2 34. Wave 1 38 Improvised Shield is exactly the same as Wave 2 36. Has anyone else noticed this? I was wondering if there was a reason known for this? Seems lazy to me.

A number of the more basic function/battle cards are carried over to later series, for those people who are new and might not have bought an earlier series, or weren't interested in it while it was still available. And with so many specialty cards to easily fill out a person's battle deck, a lot of those simpler cards that are repeated are really just padding for the blind packs, that most people probably don't use because of the limited number of battle cards you can have in your battle deck.

They could have gone to the trouble of giving those re-release cards new names and new art, but there isn't really any point if they are only there to cover the simpler, basic battle elements. I think I recall that they did generate new art for series 3 on any function cards that were re-released... but I'd have to look at my cards to see for sure.
