Bumblebee Movie toyline

It's still about 9-10 months before the Bumblebee toys will be released at retail, and probably won't be officially revealed until SDCC in July (although, retailers will see them at Toyfairs around the world FEB-MAR, and we might see some leaked images at that time)... but we might have our first product listing for the Bumblebee movie toyline.
An online store in the Netherlands, have just listed "Bumblebee Movie Tiny Turbo Changers" (http://news.tfw2005.com/2017/12/29/power-primes-authentics-bumblebee-movie-tiny-turbo-changers-listed-otto-simon-netherlands-356019), which would be too late for the TF5 Tiny Changers... but with the fifth movie having Tiny Changers, this could be a legitimate listing, just a little earlier than they were meant to list it. (it doesn't say when they are to be released)

The UK Toyfair is on this week, and even though the Hasbro exhibit is closed off from the public, we do still get some info about the Bumblebee Movie from one of the license-holders - Simba/Dickie (the diecast vehicles and remote controlled toys).
No character names yet, but there is one image of a remote controlled VW beetle (http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/01/23/first-look-transformers-bumblebee-movie-toys-london-toy-fair-2018-357148), in packaging that has a new look Bumblebee on the box.
That should mean that we should be getting some Hasbro toys of a VW Bumblebee, that look like the licensed remote controlled car in that image.

Posted up on TFW (http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/01/30/even-uk-distributor-listings-2018-movieverse-toys-studio-series-bumblebee-357459) is a long list of what might be coming out for the Bumblebee movie toyline, according to listings in various UK store listings.

Hasbro are definitely going all out on the toy merchandise for this movie (and these are probably just the gimmick toys)... and they've had an extra six months to pad out the toyline too. Since it is probably going to be a lower rated movie than the others, it will definitely be marketed at the whole family, including younger kids, who will want all this gimmick stuff.

Looks like the Bumblebee Movie Tiny Changers are already almost out in stores in America, with that product found to have reached distribution (http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/02/22/transformers-bumblebee-movie-tiny-turbo-changers-distribution-initiated-359904), which is said to be about 2 months before products end up being found at retail.... which puts these as being out around April/May.
That probably would have been the original release date, before the Movie was pushed back, but I guess Hasbro were going to release them on schedule anyway, to keep that size class out in stores (after the two waves of TF5 figures were released about 8 months ago).

I saw comments from the NY Toy fair suggesting that the Studio Series movie line is actually the "collectors" (non-gimmick) toyline for the Bumblebee movie. Replacing TLK's "Premier Edition".

But because the Bumblebee movie was delayed, they've shuffled the release order so the characters from other movies are all coming out first, and the new movie cast toys will come out closer to the movie time.

This kind of makes sense to me, but I can't remember where I read it.

Even though the expected release date for the full Bumblebee toyline is said to be October 31st, it seems that there will be some "Preview" toys again for this movie, and that they might be out in August (http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/06/03/transformers-bumblebee-movie-preview-items-distribution-initiated-364768) (two months before the main toyline release)... based on the shipping of stock this week from Hasbro to distributers. (I guess they have a release date too, but could appear earlier if a retailer accidentally puts them out as soon as they get them)


There appear to be two items being released as "Preview" items - a Bee Vision Mask (said to be a reworked version of the recently released Ironman Mask) to be released globally, while the second item will be different in different countries... either a Stinger Blaster, or an unknown figure that is still only known by codenames.

The first reveals of the Energon Igniters gimmick toyline (http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/07/16/transformers-bumblebee-energon-igniters-movie-toys-revealed-367982) for the Bumblebee Movie are now out from Geekdad website (there won't be much left to reveal at SDCC at this rate).
This looks to have four size classes, with interactive gimmicks by having plug-in components to activate or release parts of the toy.




Energon Igniters Speed – $5.99. The smallest of the Energon Igniters, the 3-inch Speed series transforms between modes in 7 steps or less.
Energon Igniters Power – $9.99. The 5-inch Power series is a little more complex (4-9 steps). You can use the cores sold with the Power Plus and Nitro toys to unlock special features.

Hasbro released one for Ironman earlier this year, so if you have that Helmet already, you could pop your phone into that one and play the Bumblebee App with it.

The Stinger Blaster weapon in the previous post is also recognised by this App, and becomes a weapon for you to use.

Target in America will be pushing the Power Charge Bumblebee toy this Christmas (http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/09/05/power-charge-bumblebee-listed-on-targets-top-holiday-season-toys-for-2018-371241)... but that doesn't mean that it anything good, as these "top toy lists" are usually items that the toy companies compete to get on these lists by offering incentives to the retailer, like a bigger profit margin (slashing the wholesale price but still having the RRP remain the same).
With the Bumblebee Movie coming out in December, expect something similar here, with one of our "kids' pick" or "most popular" toy lists by one or more of the major chains.

I saw Hot Rod and Barricade in the legends size as well. Wonder if that means they are going to be in the movie. I doubt it, I reckon they just needed more characters to make toys of.

I was thinking last week that we now had all of the Bumblebee Movie packaged toys* released already, as nothing else had been revealed or hinted at, despite it being a month before the Movie's release, and usually Movie toylines have new figures released during it's screening period... and a few straggling waves after it's release date.

Newly added to Amazon America is a listing (http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/11/30/new-movie-toy-listing-transformers-mission-vision-figures-377673) that notes it being Movie 6 (Bumblebee Movie's code) Mission Vision Figure Assortment. There aren't any details or images, so what it could be is anyone's guess. (it sounds very gimmicky though, and maybe something related to the Bee Vision helmet and Stinger blaster)

The wave 2 Speed series Cliffjumper has just been found at retail (https://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/better-look-at-transformers-bumblebee-movie-cliffjumper-toy/42636/).... in Australia, at a BigW.
It clearly shows us that it is a straight redeco of VW Bumblebee.
