If I had to choose between the two I think I’d choose this one as that blue looks great, but since I own the original I won’t be replacing it

I have to say that the blue does nothing for me. They even put it on the lights.

Are we going to spend the next 2 years clogging up the G1 MP line with "+" repaints?

I've ordered the + version of Sideswipe, but I don't think I'll go after this one (or the other heap of + repaints we might get!).

The shoulder cannons looks nice though...

I still can't decide between the three versions of Bluestreak which one I want most (toy, anime or diaclone toy) so don't appreciate all these other choices! :)

So the rear bumper has been retooled to hold the launchers, how odd.

I'm glad its a TTmall release, less reason to seek it out, infact all mp+ variants should be there, even the eventual mp10 redeco.

I'm also a little tempted despite my push for variants like these to stay off main line retail (because too many of them may affect new molds lol)

For someone like me that wants cartoon accurate moulds and decos I'm actually not impressed by this for whatever stupid reason that's going through my head that I can't put my finger on. With the MP+ version of Sideswipe being the most minor of changes in deco and now this not clicking I'm not sure this subline is worth it.

Only one that's been a must have for me is Red Alert.

I’ll be getting it simply because more cartoon accurate the better even tho it is frustrating that they can charge a premium for what is such an old mould now.

But it got me thinking, they did mp-14+ to go with Inferno? Now they’ve just just done mp-12+ to go with sunstreaker. So is the new prowl a teaser for a new mp on its way? I can’t think of who or if prowl had a close buddy in the cartoon but I might be onto something.

The rear bumper could always hold the launchers. However most of the Datsuns didn't come with launchers.

I’ll be ordering two of these. Good sign we’ll be getting anime + Bluestreak and Wheeljack. I’m desperate for an anime + streak more than anything else. So much so I’ve taken MP-18 out of my display cabinet. The colours are way too dark.

Prowl doesn't really have a partner, at best its a sign the other datsuns will get similar redeco's and his performance will gauge if they end up in retail or stay in the ttmall

Yeh I wasn't a fan of the MP-12+ alt mode compared to the original Sideswipe with those blue windows and lack of detail. Haven't transformed him yet to robot mode though so maybe that's where the improvement is. Whereas MP-14+ felt like a real step-up from the original Red Alert these last two + releases don't feel nearly as necessary.

I'm undecided now but I'll probably buy one. As a fan of the cartoon I prefer toon accurate over anything. Alert + is amazing, and I've got Lambor + in the mail because of Sunstreaker. The initial release of Prowl was pretty close to perfect though.

Yeah true. Now that you mention it I'm keen to see what + version of Wheeljack would look like. He's my least favourite MP but an anime colour version might change that haha.

For those who have access to the Diamond Comics Previews book, the MP Prowl Anime edition, is featured on a full page spread (http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/03/27/masterpiece-prowl-animation-version-coming-us-via-diamond-distributors-361423), still for September for US$80.
Unfortunately, like most toys in Previews, it isn't available outside of the US, so you shouldn't be able to order this through comic shops.

Since this was set up for Diamond and Entertainment Earth so long ago, it makes you wonder if this was never planned for ToysRUs in the first place (breaking the tradition for the MP toys in the US).

Looks like the Anime Prowl has now been released in Asia, as there are now images of it in-hand (http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/09/25/takara-tomy-masterpiece-mp-17-prowl-anime-color-collectible-coin-in-hand-images-372779), and the coin that comes with the non-Japanese Asian release.

With the multiple faces and accessories that MP is coming with lately I think some kind of bonus pack would be great for the older figures. They could do a Lambor edition and Datsun edition etc of new heads and other fun stuff.
