The 2018 Australian Toy, Hobby and Licensing Fair is on in Melbourne from today until Wednesday, and Hasbro are once again present to show off this year's toys to Retailers.
Ozformers was invited to visit their exhibit for the eleventh year now, and take some photos... and we will be back there later today for a
world first exclusive reveal of three Transformers toys.
(not a first reveal anymore (https://www.facebook.com/transformers/posts/1843284529075066), as Hasbro America miscalculated the timezones and released the official images four hours early... :( )

But first, with thanks to Hasbro Australia and Hasbro America for making this possible, some photos of the toys on display this year at the Hasbro exhibit.

(the Cyberverse and Studio Series toys are actually in the sealed room with the Bumblebee Movie toys, but Hasbro Australia were generous
enough to bring some out of the room for me to photograph)

The big feature is Predaking this year, and I was able to bring my Gen1 Predacon set with me for some comparison photos.... and was even
allowed to combine one of the sets to have a bit of a trial play (it had the same feel as Devastator with its design and complexity, not being too
difficult to spoil the play element or too easy for the expected hefty price-point).

Ponys and Bots.... a nice combination.

Their Rescue Bots display.

Over to one side they had a display of licensed items (to encourage retailers to seek out licensed items to add to their range of Hasbro toys... and doesn't mean that any of it will actually be released here).
Of interest were some Moschino clothing and baggage items using Transformers artwork from the original 1980s toy boxes (the battle scenes on the back).
I don't know if these are real items that they are actually releasing, or if they are just one-off promotional pieces by Moschino.

Lol @ grumpy Ratchet - the only bot that couldn't be bothered getting out of altmode :D

Looks like the clothing was something that was revealed in January 2017 (http://news.tfw2005.com/2017/01/15/moschino-x-transformers-collection-milan-fashion-show-331080) at an actual fashion show. Still not sure if they were actually produced for sale though.

Any images of what inferno's combined mode looks like?

I know its just a straight defensor repaint but hoping seeing it in hand might change my perception of it

No one thought to do the combined mode, and we only had the toys for about 30 minutes among 12 people... and I forgot to bring or organise to have someone bring some combiner limbs too. :(

Going off photos it looks like there will be more combiner kibble on Predaking than most CW combiners. What's it seem like in person?

Nice photos Griffin.

Although they managed to transform the arms on Predaking right, it looks like the side panels on the waist that are supposed to fill in the sides were left folded in. How's the flimsy looking waist feel in hand?

I didn't get to transform them into beast mode, so can't say what that element is like, but combining them was a bit of fun... and felt similar to Devastator, in terms of complexity.

Ah, at the back.... I didn't notice those when I was putting the toy back together. Oops.

That was a great idea to pose POtP Predaking alongside the G1 original for scale. He looks twice the size. Can't believe Hasbro didn't think of doing that originally.

As a massive fan of Predaking, my favourite G1 combiner since childhood, I am really excited for this release, it looks well proportioned.
Love the G1 comparison pics.

Outback is a must. Predaking, I may want 2 so have a combined one and a robot mode set. Cindersaur, it's garish and an eyesore, I will buy it too lol. Inferno is a pass unless I find him cheap. I'm happy with my Classics Inferno

I was thinking that they looked like fashion show clothes, something that I wouldn't be caught dead wearing. I like the bags and the shoes though.

I agree with you there, I think the classics inferno feels a lot more 'inferno'.

Is there any word if Takara/Tomy will be doing versions of Predaking and Abominus? And if so will they differ from the Hasbro versions? I loved that the CW and UW versions were just different enough from each other to warrant having two sets, so I could always have a gestalt and individual bots display set up.

They have announced nothing yet. I'm not holding my breath for changes to be made to any POTP toys by Takara.

Ladies collection here (https://www.moschino.com/us/moschino/women/extended/transformers-print)

The bomber jacket is nice.

Designer label price of course haha. I can’t work out where the other items are, like the bag etc, their website is a pain.

Had a nice up and personal look at those shoes earlier today. I'd buy them.

Also nice that Hasbro changed their display area this year. I'm not on the list to visit but i could see some TFs as some of their stuff is no longer blocked from the riff raff like me. Had a pretty nice look at Predaking. Lucky it wasn't a glass wall or i would have fogged it up...

Something I never thought of though, tear his head off and modify some other headmaster and BOOM you get Hosehead. That would have made way more sense in the beginning

You don't need to modify any Headmasters. There's already a Titan/Headmaster version of him thanks to Takara.

It would be quite a head turner and a conversation piece to wear that suit to a convention such as Ozcomicon or Supanova.

I don't suppose anyone got a chance to see any Star Wars stuff from Hasbro? Was there even a Star Wars area?

Getting him will be expensive. And I don't feel like buying the set again just for the head

Someone used the skytread titan master for Cab and I'm actually surprised that neither Hasbro or Takara thought to use a titan master for a combiner head.

Star Wars toys are never out on public display when the next movie and toyline comes out at the end of the year... it is too long for competitors and cheap chinese imitations to get product out first.
That's why the Bumblebee movie toys were hidden as well. If the Movie hadn't been pushed back to December, the toys would have been out on display, because they would be out in stores in about 6 weeks time.

The only people allowed into the sealed rooms are those who sign non-disclosure agreements, and Hasbro only let Product Buyers of the Major retailers do that.
People who do gain authorised access into the rooms and looked at the toys, they wouldn't want to risk saying anything about it.

TR Hosehead would be a good mod for inferno, but I can't see how you're going to modify the head to take a TR figure. Can anyone point me to a shapeways mod for CW Hotspot?

My thoughts exactly

Why they didn't do that, who knows. Probably not worth the time to engineer it. That's why I made my own :D

I may just buy Inferno and that shapeways mod. The head, I will just try to repaint Heavytread instead of trying to get the released one in the Ginrai set

I’m surprised at the lack of Solo movie merchandise given we’re only two and a bit months from release. Typically we start seeing stuff hit the shelves months in advance. An ominous sign perhaps?
