Just saw this on the nine afternoon news sydney and this is on top of the 10% gst thats expected in july due to increasing sercurity screenings as the parcels arrive.

What is everyones thouhts in regards to this

Edit:Skynews australia say gov is considering a $5 tax on small packages from overseas

And how do they expect to enforce this? As it is the GST will be pretty much unenforcable.

Yet another living in Australia tax on top of the fairly high tax rates we already pay to top up successive governments who keep putting people with no experience in an area portfolios to keep their cliques and private corporate backers happy.

Maybe if they made DHL, Fastway and other services pay the correct corporate tax there would be no need to slug the people twice or more for nothing.
