View Full Version : Laserbeak/Soundwave Animated: Do you count them as 1 or 2

STL
29th October 2008, 12:58 PM
Jaydisc and myself had an argument over this. He reckons that Laserbeak and Soundwave ought to be counted as 1. I argue that they're counted as two. Obviously you will all vouch for me and not that whiner.

(right?) :D

EDIT:
Could one of the mods please change the question for the poll clearer by adding "do you count them as 1 or 2?"? Thank you,

(and yes, I'm dopey, no need to rub it in!)

I voted for 2, but machine men is the ownage...

Basically if you count them as one, that means any of the dual cassette cardbacks are counted as one. i.e. ramhorn and eject counted as one... i think 2 is the way to go.

Yes. Animated.

Well I really believe 2 is correct but I hate to see such a whitewash and enjoy a close battle.

I'm voting 1.

That's why I voted for them... :D

I count my Animated Soundwave & Laserbeak as 1 but in every other line, I count them individually... :) (I'm different, I know :o)

Thanks Digger for once again eloquently pointing out my severe mental deficiencies. ;)

:o Mods! Can we get that rectified too? :o :o :o

For that you get an energon cookie! If we win, I'll upsize to an energon cube!

Meh. Outcast. No energon cube for you!

Oh and Sifun likes Barbies and Machine Men. Why am I not surprised? :p

I look as Animated Laserbeak as something like an Action Master companion: a robotic drone that becomes a weapon (well musical instrument) for a Transformer.

It's name is listed on the card in the places were accessories usually are listed. In fact Laserbeak doesn't get a bio, a function, an appearance in the cartoon, nor is it even referred to as a Decepticon.

If I see something that shows Laserbeak to actually be a Transformer and not just a fancy accessory I'll count it as two, but until that day I say one.

I like Machine Men and Barbie.

There are clearly a lot of disturbed people on this board... :p

And I defer to Hot Rod on the matter of energon cookies...

"This is getting expensive."

I would count them as 1 toy but 2 characters. :o

Two of everything.

- They don't depend on each other for any mode. Any old bot can pick up a guitar.
- They both have their own names. This alone should end the debate.
- They both transform into their own things independant of each other (first point).

Laserbeak doesn't turn into the weapon or a part of the primary figure, so I would count it as a separate figure. If it can be named and sold as something separate, and isn't required for the primary figure of a multipack to be able to convert or be played with, it should count as a separate figure - Like the original Soundwave and Buzzsaw - Buzzsaw converted into a rather inanimate object, but is it's own figure, that is traded separately and Soundwave can be sold loose complete without it.
And as much as it might not have its own bio, I think there are a lot of toys that don't have bios, but are still counted.

Add me to your disturbed no energon cookie list STL. I count them as one. I agree with Paulbot that Laserbeak was treated too much like an accessory for this line. Although I did have to think about it for a while! So can I at least have some energon crumbs?

I count them as 2, but ideally I would count them as one, hence my vote.
I count them as 2 based on the Universal Counting Method, and I would count Lazerbeak as a Minicon like figure.
But
I would prefer to count him as one with Soundwave. I think that it should be counted by the way they are packaged in the most simplest of forms.
I mean, if you got Armada Hotshot without Jolt, you would simply say Hotshot was incomplete.

So in the end I voted counting them as one, because, if you got Soundwave without Laserbeak, you would say he was incomplete, so together they make a whole.

Awesome poll/thread and a bloody good question!! :D

I would count Laserbeak as 2 as per griffin's rationale, but I can also understand the argument for counting it as one toy.

The more difficult question though is - what about CYBERTRON Soundwave and Laserbeak? I count them as too primarily because they've classified Laserbeak as Soundwave's Mini-Con (despite the fact that Laserbeak has no Mini-Con ports).

... then you lost it. :p

This is a war, pansies. You either get into line and back the cause or on the side of Barbies and Machine Men.

And to my loyal comrades, I've loaded the energon cookies onto the space bridge. They will be rationed shortly as we continue to cut the enemy down and prepare for our exams.

well, to me soundwave's alt mode is a big speaker/amp, and since old beaky is an electric guitar, you kinda need an amp to must out some tunes, therefore in all my wisdom i say one :)

of course if i owned them, i would count it as two - it increases the collection of course :P
