It seems a bit underwhelming all up. Not much interest for items for my two year old, only a handful of items for my nieces and nephews.

Some excellent prices on end of 2017 games, really top deals for books and some outdoor items too. Other than the hulkbuster and the pirate rollercoaster, nothing interesting or wonderfully priced in the lego section. Transformers is pitiful, but that is to be expected, how many times have the retail chains been burnt by Hasbro reps pushing insane amount of wave 1 movie lines that never sell???

Sure that those who collect all the blind packed figures will be happy, apparently they've got some great prices.

People have been wondering about why no Predaking... I think Devastator was good early for them, but Trypticon and some of the others did shelf-warm for a long time, most were moved via clearance sales. Maybe they were burnt and going a bit gun shy now...or maybe its just not ready for release.

I'm spewing with the lions, I bought them separately but least this box set would have given me something to store them in plus a far cheaper price (let alone US prices) :/

I will add that if you get a figure you dont want from these random purchase pages you can go to any store and get it exchanged, but it sort of defeats the purpose of shopping online when you end up having to go to the physical location anyway.

Hopefully that means that they are getting in new stock of the Deluxes too... as that previous single sighting a month ago of wave 2 looks like an error, due to no other sighting since then. It would be good to see wave 2 and 3 here at once, to get all the Terrorcons and Dinobots.

Well so far no stores where I frequently visit have gone past their initial allocations apart from one toyworld getting more POTP deluxes of wave one and those won't move forever now because the ones I visit never changes their prices.

But the big w's kmarts and nearby targets have been nearly depleted, they're due, I just wonder how their stock system works, its different to where I work (automated restocking system) but if you're sitting on 2 stock either theft has occurred or they have to manually order stuff or hasbro is really slow to send stuff out, so I expected restocks far sooner than now.

Whatever the case vic stores are 100% due, if they aren't out or low its the fact I've never seen a leader in store at big w so i expect to see something closer to next week

Its just like the toys r us page listings, its pretty clear with its "selected at random" and the pictures are just for display and not an actual indication of what assortment you'd get, its basically a lucky dip, one I can't honestly be bothered with, not gonna pay for shipping and then the hassle of doing returns :D

Seems we have wave 2 POTP leaders in vic but it seems the "refund back the difference on the sale day" is a bit iffy, highpoint didn't even give me that option when asked, while werribee plaza said I can RISK getting knocked back on the day or use laybuy and pay the extra $5 but otherwise didn't know if there was changes because of the sale

I've been trying in vain to find the transcript (it's online somewhere dammit, including somewhere on this site) of the the infuriating phone conversation I had with a sales assistant at Target in Swan Hill. I rang up trying to find out if they were going to stock Platinum Ultra Magnus in their 2013 Toy Sale and got such a massive run around and conflicting info (all from the same person) to get no definitive answer, only to walk in the next morning to find there were 14 on the shelves :rolleyes:

I don't anticipate that I would receive a better response from the Mudgee Big W staff :rolleyes:

Well, curiosity killed the cat and I went anyway. I had a chat to the lady at the help desk for the sale at the front of the store and she indicated that many of the leaders and a lot of the deluxes were still on pallets. they are taking names to contact when they are unpacked. At least they have space on the shelf for them at top Ryde, when I went to Macquarie on Wednesday they didn't even have shelf space for any transformers.

so I didn't get anything from the sale yet but I did pick up a premium deluxe crosshairs for $20 from toymate. supposedly a better version of the mould than the age of extinction version.

hopefully over the next day or two they get all or at least a representative amount of product out onto shelves. I find it surprising that stores don't seem to have enough dedicated shelf space or time allotted to ensure all sale items are available on the first day of the toy sale.

Going to the Big W toy sale was kinda a bust but kinda not.

On the one hand, they had none of the four I really wanted (Unicronus, Optimal and SS Grimlock & Blackout) as they only got a few of each and they sold out fast! :(

On the other hand, the main sales assistant turned out to be a Transformers fan and knew who I was :eek:. Apparently he is not a member here but comes on here sometimes and through OzF has become a reader of my Blog and recognized me from all the photos on there :D

Anyway, he told me that they had only gotten two boxes of the four I was after (and of those he had grabbed one of each for himself) and the others had sold out super fast. He was kind enough to offer to check to see if they would get more in and if so put them aside for me, and in the meantime put me onto some $24 SS figures for myself and some $10 TR figures for my son. Nice bloke :)

Anyway, turns out they had one each of the four I wanted left at Big W in Bathurst so my mum-in-law grabbed them for me so got what I wanted in the end, just have to wait until she visits on Sunday :)

it's surprising and confusingI'd say that's fairly accurate, and if you add to that the fact that they put the sale stock out early, and subsequently sold a lot of it before the sale even started, you have Transformers on sale but no stock to actually sell.
I'm thinking about ordering a few leaders online and collecting them in store if possible, that way (hopefully) they get in at least one thing I want and I can get the money back for the rest right away, so if that's an option for you as well it might be worth considering.

Cheers for that. I did check at the service desk, and they pulled up the stock report on a handheld thingy, which said that had no more left of the PotP Leader assortment product code, with none on order. Then waited around 10-15 minutes while they called around all the other stores listed as showing stock for that product code. The person who served me must've been a manager, 'coz she was answering questions from all the other service desk staff doing returns and stuff while she was on hold on the phone.

So yeah, I agree a pretty big missed opportunity for Hasbro, unless they have some deliberate reason for withholding stock like preventing price signalling or something.

After checking out just about all of the Brisbane BigW's south of the river in the last three days, the word I got from most of them is that they didn't get much stock of the POTP Leaders... and most were sold out of the black Rodimus and Optimal Optimus before the sale started, or within the first hours of the official start of the sale (Thursday 21st).


Which isn't too surprising, as it was the first release of those two toys in Australia, and BigW's regular price was cheaper than all other retailers here, and making it acceptable to those who really wanted them.
If you are still finding them in other parts of the country, then maybe Brisbane was just really unlucky with the amount of stock allocated to our stores.



I might still check out the last two BigW's south of the river tomorrow, but I don't expect to find Optimal Optimus at either of them.
I think I was just lucky to find a black Rodimus on Wednesday night, after the sale prices kicked in, because I haven't seen one in any of the other stores since then.


A couple of the stores also noted that they don't expect to get any more Transformers stock in during the sale, as they already received all of their toy sale stock before it started.

A salesperson at BigW told me today that they're expecting more stock every day during the toy sale period so it might be worth checking back regularly.

If you still can't find what you're looking for, remember the other stores have price matching policies. ;)

So a friend of mine who managed to grab the last PotP Evolution Optimus Prime from Macquarie Big W said that a guy ahead of him took 3 of them. Guess he really liked them and/or was picking them up for friends, or else (hopefully not) they'll be scalped :-(

Curious to know when this was, just for a stock level timeline sake. I picked up one last Thursday night and it came straight off a pallet, there were no others at the time.

Well how damn wrong was I! :eek::D

Going to the Big W toy sale was kinda a bust but kinda not.

On the one hand, they had none of the four I really wanted (Unicronus, Optimal and SS Grimlock & Blackout) as they only got a few of each and they sold out fast! :(

On the other hand, the main sales assistant turned out to be a Transformers fan and knew who I was :eek:. Apparently he is not a member here but comes on here sometimes and through OzF has become a reader of my Blog and recognized me from all the photos on there :D

Anyway, he told me that they had only gotten two boxes of the four I was after (and of those he had grabbed one of each for himself) and the others had sold out super fast. He was kind enough to offer to check to see if they would get more in and if so put them aside for me, and in the meantime put me onto some $24 SS figures for myself and some $10 TR figures for my son. Nice bloke :)

Anyway, turns out they had one each of the four I wanted left at Big W in Bathurst so my mum-in-law grabbed them for me so got what I wanted in the end, just have to wait until she visits on Sunday :)

Thursday morning, I guess between 9 and 10am. Friend went to Top Ryde first at 9am after dropping off the kids, and they were sold out. Then he went to Macquarie and got it, which is when he saw this guy.

I went there (Macquarie) on my lunch break, and the service desk said they had zero stock of any leaders (based on the code from the website) and the handheld thingy she was looking at said they had zero on order.

She then used a computer to check other stores, and called around. So if you got one Thursday night you must've gotten lucky.

When my muminlaw checked the Big W in Bathurst she couldn’t see any of the new leaders, so played the confused old lady card and gave her list to a employee who then found them out the back.

So if you can’t find what you want on the shelves it may be worth an ask

I highly recommend you call around as this can narrow your search time. You also have local online options like The Little Toy Company, Toybot Importz & Savier Toys just to name a few. Good Luck.
