Well with the closing of Toys R Us, we are at the end of an era. Whether you liked them or not (and yes I experienced some issues with the AU and US online stores) they were a huge toy supermarket one could wander around in. With online shopping now so prevalent one could argue we are unlikely to see dedicated brick & mortar toy stores on that scale again.

Toys R Us often had some of the most expensive prices, but conversley often had a huge TF range and included lots of exclusive toys, or otherwise toys that never cropped up in other stores, and as such a lot of us did a lot of shopping there over the years.

What Transformers in your collection did you purchase from Toys'R'Us?
I can't remember a lot of them, but will list what I can remember:

From the UK TRU stores (when I was living there)
*Destruction Bludgeon
*Desctruction Scourge
*Armada Unicron
*Reissue Hot Rod
*Reissue Powermaster Optimus Prime

From the US TRU stores (via friends physically going into them)
*Kre-O - Grimlock (the big one)
*Masterpiece - Soundwave

From the AUS TRU Online Store
*The Last Knight - Infernocus

From the AUS TRU stores
*Armada/Energon/Cybertron figures - various
*Titanium 3 Inch - Hot Rod, Starscream, Thundercracker, WW Optimus, Bumblebee, Jazz, BW Optimus, BW Megatron, Unicron, The Ark
*Titanium 6 Inch - WW Optimus, Soundwave, WW Starscream, Scourge
*Animated - Bumblebee, Bulkhead, Prowl, Ratchet, Starscream, Optimus, Cybertron Optimus, Cybertron Megatron
*RescueBots - Chase, Blades, Dino-Blades, Dino-Boulder, Heatwave (boat version), Firehouse Playset
*RID(15) - 3-Step Starscream, 3-Step Megatronus, Bludgeon, Menasor
*Combiner Wars - Computron, Victorion
*Movieverse - most of the ones from the first movie, Devestator from the second, various from the others
*Kre-O - Wave 4 Blind Packs
*Universe - Ramjet, Ratbat/Springer, Roadbuster/Dirge
*25th Anniversary G1 Optimus Prime
*Reissue G1 - Ultra Magnus, Skids, Grapple, Smokescreen, Hoist

I'm sure there are tons more but I can't remember specifically. For instance I think I got Cybertron Primus from TRU but it may have been Big W.

So what Transformers have you gotten from TRU over the years?

Great thread.

Hasbro MP Optimus Prime - Got me back into collecting Transformers.
Hasbro MP Soundwave - Thrill of the chase I don't experience these days
Trypticon G1 reissue

(Handed over much more money for Star Wars toys).

Bought my 2nd transformer from a TRU on trip to Adelaide it was this moment that I realised that G1 transformers had been brought back to life.

I bought a hasbro Mp Sunstorm ( wife wouldn’t let me pay $299 for a Mp Magnus)

Hasbro MP Starscream and Hasbro MP Rodimus from TRU Cannington. Both have since been passed on to other collectors.

On a side note, back in the 90’s a bunch of Star Wars stuff undoubtedly was bought from TRU back when there was one in Hay St Mall.

I'm sure there's more I've forgotten, but the above are the ones I can remember.

Tons and tons of toys. Mostly Bots and SW over the years. Way to many to count.

But I can tell you the first things I ever got from TRU. I got a G1 Starscream. Ramjet and Cyclonus the day TRU Erina opened in.. 1993? Only $10 each.

Last thing I got from TRU SW Black series Landspeeder. Some TF posters and some exclusive ponys and Power Rangers for the kids.

Yeah TRU was expensive. Walked out with nothing most of the time. But for the last 20+ years its been a Saturday tradition to go and have a look. I'm going to miss it

AOE deluxe Stinger,
AOE Deluxe Drift,
AOE Deluxe Slash
AOE Deluxe Crosshairs,
Cyberverse Legends evac

MP Rodimus
MP Grimlock
MP Soundwave
powercore combiners brimstone and dinobots (maybe)

There were a couple more. But i can't remember exactly which ones.

I only bought something if it was on sale and at a competitive price, so most of the time i didn't buy anything.
Toys R US was usually good because if you saw it on the shelves it would be a good indicator that the others store would have it soon.

Lots

Tbh, I can't remember most. Maybe MP Thundercracker, MP Hot Rod. Bunch of classics and Universe too. Though I do remember a disappointing moment when Universe Acidstorm came out, there was heaps of all those waves and class figures I wanted, so went to laybuy them and was told they don't do laybuy, so I just had to leave them in the trolley and leave. Was a sad day for me.

I do have a few photos of my wife and I with Optimus and Bumblebee at the Penrith store, as well as a truck painted up like Optimus, for one of the movie events

Too many to specifically remember.

Recently, Studio Series Grimlock, Crowbar, and Ratchet.

Titans Return Sixshot about a year ago.

I have a strong memory of getting the Hasbro release of MP Rodimus there 7 years ago.

I came to OZ the time Hasbro MP Soundwave was released, but obviously never got one. So excited to see Hasbro MP Grimlock on shelf first time, bought it immediately. Followed up with MP Sunstorm online. My last purchase was PotP Leaders Optimus Prime and Rodimus during one of the 20% off sale.

Several MPs - Hasbro Grimlock and Rodimus, and one of my best TF buying memories, MP Soundwave - in the flurry of excitement when he was released, I got 2 of the last few in store (my local TRU sold out in an afternoon), one for me and one for another member here who lived in a rural area.

Other than RID2015 Megatronus (for my son) from AU TRU I've bought many a figure from HK Toys'R'Us which, while expensive by local standards, sometimes have some great deals or freebies with figures or run Hasbro Transformer events which might be why it and the Asian sector of the franchise remain so robust.
The other good thing about the HK Toys'R'Us is they generally get their stock in a week or month after the figure is released so you're more likely to find that one figure that sold out the day of release suddenly pop up on their shelves.

For a lot of people who don't know about the smaller local HK toy dealers, or don't want to think about where to source toys, or those too scared to go to the "dark side" of HK (yes people there really are those who live in HK who don't go to Kowloon unless in transit to the airport) Toys'R'Us is the only major toy store chain in HK to source things from and they don't have department stores (a la Target, K-Mart, Big W, The Warehouse) to contend with so they remain both popular and successful.

My first Official collectible figure - Year of the Horse Optimus Prime came from HK Toys'R'Us so I do have a bit of a sentimental spot for them.

I've also got a number of collectable figures from them over the years - Battle damaged The Last Knight Optimus, Barricade and Bumblebee, The black box Slug from AOE, pewter Optimus Prime mini statues, numerous RID2015 figures (and freebies like crayons and folders) for my son as they'd often run discounts, 2 for 1 sales, etc on them, Hasbro MP Grimlock, Combiner Hunters boxed set, Seige on Cybertron boxed set...

Ah - good times.
Prior to becoming a Transformers collector, while living in Sydney before our time in HK, Chatswood Toys'R'Us got a lot of visits from us when our oldest was a baby/toddler because my husband finally had an excuse to buy toys and her first Optimus Prime came from there when the 2007 movie came out.

MP's Wheeljack, Sunstorm, Acidstorm, Starscream, Grimlock, Bumblebee, Rodimus x 2, Optimus, Soundwave x 2. That's what I can immediately think of, also have bought a large trampoline, tonnes of Lego and a lot of girls toys.

Yes their prices stink most of the time, but to get all those TF's in hand was a lot more fun than maybe getting them on a pre-order.

I too bought two Hasbro Soundwaves. Not for anyone in particular but with the intent of helping out a fellow board member. I ended up returning it a few weeks later because no one local wanted it and the 3 people that expressed an interest in me posting it to them were trying to get me to give them a discount because of the added cost of postage

I think the earliest TF I bought at TRU might have been a G2 Grimlock but I'm not sure if that store might have actually been a World 4 Kids.

I bought some of the premium/g1-deco figures from the first movie (Bumblebee, Starscream, Megatron, Jazz) there for sure.

I got the Universe 2.0 Comic two packs (Dirge vs Roadbuster, Springer vs Ratbat) and some of the two pack Cybertron deluxes too.

I got Alternator Meister there, the G1 Soundwave reissue in the classics box.

A couple of the Masterpeice toys like Hasbro MP10 Optimus (via Lint), Hasbro MP Soundwave (online).

Probably quite a few others over the years too.

I have bought some Animated/CHUG characters from TRU stories in the US (Wreck-Gar, Waspinator, Countdown) and some DOTM toys in TRU Hong Kong (Laserbeak for one).

Barely anything. POTP Rodimus Prime for a great price, good toy. I think CW Blast Off as well?

They will be missed.

I did also buy TR Blurr, Galvatron and Scourge from a TRU in California, which was cool. Thrilling 30 Thundercracker and FOC Starscream from Hong Kong.
