Cybertron Collectors: "When Your Transformers Need Their Own Room (https://www.kotaku.com.au/2018/09/when-your-transformers-need-their-own-room/)

Note: one mistake -- I said "counter intuitive" when I meant to say "intuitive." Oopsie. :p

There was another collector who was interviewed for this so I'm guessing that their video is coming up soon. :)

Just saw this and had a double take at first, before I remembered that you did the interview a few weeks back!

Love it, I remember you mentioning this to me and the two Mike's when I was up in Sydney.
Fruedian slip for the win.
Can't wait to see the second video too

Good job Sir Kelvin!

Cybertron Collectors Episode 2 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQHRhWJN-BU) -- this guy has 6500 Transformers in his collection! I wonder if he's ever heard of OzFormers. We should get him to join. :p

He seems like a top bloke, you are right Gok, we really do need to convince him to join this site.

Great videos. I’ve seen both of these collections in person and even still it’s hard to fathom them as real.

Is it just me or was Hasbro pedalling the Bumblebee angle for the upcoming movie.

Been getting a few non-Transformers people tagging me in or sending links to these videos so its good to see they're getting some great exposure!

Both, enjoyable videos. and model examples of collectors in Australia.

the BB mask shot though, oddly creepy.

Thank you, sir. :)

I made some slight modifications to Ep 1 here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwOqXOT3s5k). I added a text correction for "counter intuitive" to "intuitive," that was the easy part. The more time consuming part was translating everything I said into Japanese and then adding it as captions. :o

Yep. Makes the gimp mask look pretty tame in comparison. :D

A great interview, and a magnificent collection.

Can you still get Softimus Primes?? I'd love one for my 2 year old son...

I bought Softimus Prime and Slumblebee at Kmart back in 2007. I wasn't even a parent then. :p

Well if there's ever a need for an Encore release, they should be top of the list!! :D

Hey, you’re not the only one. I got a plush Optimus and Bee (Universal Studios exclusive) in case of future children :) And given how they’re no longer sold, I’m glad I did !

Just had a chance to watch these.

Great collection guys. not a fan of pushing the Bee bandwagon but I understand the reasoning.

So I have a silly question. If you guys invest so much in your collection, why haven't you invested in proper shelving with glass doors to keep the dust out?

Seems like a great solution.

More money spent on shelving is less money to be able to spend on toys...

Time = Money.

"takes me an hour per shelf to clean"

There are also plenty of inexpensive options: Ikea (https://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/categories/departments/living_room/10384/).

It's how I'll hopefully display my stuff when I move into my new place.

That said, I understand I wouldn't need as many bookshelves as you guys would.

I think they'd need at least $10K worth of detolf cases each. think about it.

50 book cases, space wise, you'd need at least 2 detolf cases to carry the same stuff as a book case. so we're looking at 100 detolfs minimum, at $100 each.

that's a hell of a lot of transformers.

Wow, I totally did not know about this until I saw it linked to on Seibertron. Two great interviews and lovely to see some of the toys in the shelves in the background :)

This is true, but they obviously had to buy bookshelves at some price at some stage.

I guess another option is getting some acrylic cut and use them as doors across the front of the bookshelves.

A lot of statue collectors do it that way and it seems to work really well.

Not casting aspersions, just both guys mentioned the dust and the maintenance of said dust. As someone who's looking to setup his collection by finally taking them out of storage boxes from the garage and into the new house it's just something I find myself constantly thinking about.

Anyway, they are fabulous collections and I appreciate the videos :)

I started displaying my TFs on bookshelves in 1988 and by 1998 they had occupied 3 sets - one wooden bookcase and 2 cheap metal tool shelves. I continued to use those cheap metal shelves for years until I finally replaced them with wooden bookcases.

Another issue with glass cases is the hassle of opening them to access toys to play with. Which brings me to my next point - another way that I reduce dust is just to handle/play with the toys on as regular a basis as possible. I often take a random figure out with me every day. Today I have Bayformers Breakdown with me at work. :)

Are there only 2 Cybertron Collectors interviews? Or is there more to roll out?

Was Hasbro rep present or did they submit questions for you to do the video clip solo?

Good to hear it go global & get the recognition both truly deserve.

(just keep away from the Bumblebee mask in future griffin :p)
