Full reveal (https://uk.movies.yahoo.com/hasbro-announces-collectible-new-transformers-botbots-range-exclusive-080930064.html)

They actually transform to my surprise.

And there’s now a Transformer called S’up Dawg which is amazing. And another called Poo Sham!! King Toots! Sprinkleberry! How great to see some new Transformers that are all about fun.

(edit by griffin - added details from link, and mirrored images here - full size images & packaging can be seen here (http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/10/22/first-look-at-transformers-botbots-toys-374471))

Here’s the official product blurb, courtesy of Hasbro: Not long ago and somewhere close by, a glowing mist filled with TRANSFORMERS energy called ENERGON came down from the sky and covered a shopping mall. The things inside came to life as little TRANSFORMERS robots! These bots can hide in plain sight as everyday objects, meaning no one knows what’s a bot and what’s not! Mischievous, funny, and super silly, these are… BOTBOTS!

There are 61 unique 1-inch (about 2.5cm) characters to collect in the first series of BotBots, each with their own individual personality. Like all Transformers, the characters change from an ordinary object into a little robot in just 3-5 easy steps.

The BotBots all belong to different tribes, inspired by product types you might find in a shopping centre, including the “Sugar Shocks” (sweet treats), the “Backpack Bunch” (school equipment), the “Toilet Troop” (bathroom items), the “Techie Team” (electronic gadgets), the “Greaser Gang” (fast food), the “Shed Heads” (gardening gear), and the “Jock Squad” (sporting goods).

The figures, suitable for ages 5 and up, come in individual blind bags with a RRP of £2.99 (about AU$5-6), or you can buy the tribes in packs of 5 or 8 figures.

This new range launches in December.

That promo image shows us 54 of the first 61. The remaining 7 may or may not be in one of the other photos included in the article (or the official packaging images)... I haven't made a list of them yet. (someone else can if they are keen, and post it here... or if you find a list online already, post it up, crediting the source)

Multi-Packs are partially themed - they have figures from different tribes, with most in the pack looking to be from the tribe labelled on the pack.
Multi-Packs appear to be set assortments, with most figures being included in more than one pack (with 8 5-packs and 8 8-packs, that's already 104 before even counting the blind bag singles).
As with most of these types of mini-collectables that are the current craze (like Shopkins and Ooshies), there will likely to be groups of rarity among the checklist of 61 figures in this first series (like, common, rare, super rare).

GREASER GANG characters are SHREDDER JACK, DUDERONI, S’UP DAWG, SPUD MUFFIN, ANGRY CHEESE, HAWT DIGGITY, FOTTLE BARTS, and TWERPLE BURPLE!

Series 1 Jock Squad characters are LACEFACE, BATSBY, KIDD KLOBBER, PUCKSIE, FIT NESS MONSTER, and ARCTIC GUZZLERUSH!
http://www.toycollectors.com.au/news/2018/102303.jpg

Series 1 SUGAR SHOCKS characters are SIPPY SLURPS, THE PLOP FATHER, WADDLEPOP, LOLLY LICKS, REMORSEL, SPRINKLEBERRY D’UHNUT, UNILLA ICEQUEENCONE, COCOA CRAZY, and NRJEEZ!
http://www.toycollectors.com.au/news/2018/102304.jpg

Series 1 TOILET TROOP characters are SERGEANT SCRUBADUB, KING TOOTS, SUDSBEARD, NOBEEOH, STINKOSAURUS REX, POO SHAM, and FROHAWK!

Series 1 TECHIE TEAM characters are SCREEN FIEND, CHILLA GORILLA, SKILLZ PUNK, S.A. CHEEZ, RADDHAX, FOMO, GOOB TOOB, and DR. MOGGLY!

Well, I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't these little fellas.

Tiny shopping item collecting seems to be an increasingly big craze now, and the fact these guys transform too is quite a feat.

Certainly should be fun for young and old alike i'd say and something a little bit quirky and different.

I just read the article. The first series has 61, 1-inch figures in blind bags for about au$5-6. That's half the size of tiny changers but the same price.
I don't like the prospect of spending a lot of money to get a full set and ending up with a lot of spares.

They are so damned cute. And those names... gold.

Perhaps we could set up a thread for swaps and trades of doubles when they are released?

Like micromasters before them, these jump on the shopkins bandwagon of muscling in on other toy turf. These could be as big or bigger than shopkins or fail silently out of sight. Be interesting to see where it goes.

Not sold on the articulation and some seem out of scale to others.

I read on another site only 24 characters will be in blind bags. The rest in 5 or 8 pack assortments

Yeah... I figured they would be onto it eventually... but that was quick.
They even include the unknowns from the promo art that could be the hidden "lost bots" in the different packs (which they suggest comes to 63 instead of 61).

I figure we will end up with a few of these. They look fun, should be a decent price (hopefully closer to $5 than $8), I think they need to compete with OI.Share and the LEGO blind packs for the same price.
while my daughter isn’t a shopkins fan, she loves playing with the minicons and old McDonald’s transformers (the cheeseburger fries and shake ones) so they’ll be a hit.

Nice to see something different, fun and silly come out. How long till we get tiny Optimus and Megatron though? Wave 2 or 3?

It looks like the Seibertron website have been given a complete set of Botbots (https://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/image-of-checklist-and-full-list-of-names-for-series-1-of-transformers-botbots/42456/) to photograph and review (which they will do over the next few days), but with the toys comes the checklist, listing all 61 toys from this first series.
And the checklist confirms that there are already three series planned, with over 190 Botbots to collect... just in 2019 alone.

The owner of TFW2005 got his promotional Botbots box as well, and has posted up a heap of photos (http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/12/03/botbots-promotional-box-and-full-series-1-in-hand-gallery-botbotschallenge-377998) of the toys and the contents of the box. (this is very similar to the Movie promo boxes, but I still wonder how many of these Hasbro did produced.)

I would buy this box if it was to be sold by Hasbro, and they should have a complete set option for those wanting all of them, as there would still be demand for the small sets by people just wanting certain figures, while the blind bags would still be good gifts for kids (they would never be a target by collectors who want all figures, as you'd could be buying thousands just to complete a set)

The Americans get all the good stuff...

I'd also love to get some kind of prints or posters of the various faction pictures they have been using as promotional. I think the artwork is fun :)

Some of my own photos, as the 5-packs I ordered from Amazon America last week, arrived.

I ordered 3 5-packs on Wednesday November 28th, and then another 11 on the next day... but oddly, the 11 5-packs arrived at my post office
yesterday (only 4 business days), while the 3 that I ordered before them, are still some days away.
(both were ordered with free Prime Member shipping, so should have been the same shipping method)

Of the 11 5-packs that I ordered (4 x Sugar team, 4 x Toilet team, 3 x Tech team - I know, that's not their accurate team names), I had four
duplicate packs, because these were just random selections of each team.
Of the remaining 7 packs (2 x Sugar, 3 x Toilet, 2 x Tech), there were 28 different Botbots toys (plus 7 duplicates)... which is a bit puzzling, and
annoying - why have some of them packed into more than one pack? If you want certain figures, buy those packs... because if you want the
entire set, you get stuck with several duplicates (not even a complete second set). And the "mystery" figures in the red bubble are not random...
they are the same in each of the different 5-packs, because they have them included on the sheet of instructions for the visible four toys in the
pack (in other words, every Sugar 5-pack that has the lollipop and sippy-cup, will have the plunger toy in the red bubble).
And really annoyingly, two of the different 5-packs had the same "mystery" figure in the red bubble... so they aren't even hiding "rarer" figures.
(I am one who hates the idea of having limited/rare figures as part of multi-packs or even blind bags, because you have to waste money buying
multiple toys that you don't want or keep, just to track down the complete set.... so having the "mystery" figures be guaranteed to each 5-pack is a good thing, once they are publicly known.)
So... I'm almost at halfway with the first series of Botbots (28 of 61) after my first purchase of them, but I'm already at 20% duplication (7 of the
first 35 opened from packaging), and it will keep getting higher, as there is one more 5-pack left for me to collect (a Sugar team pack) and eight of
the 8-packs... which will probably all need to be purchased to get the entire set (that's another 69 figures, just to get the remaining 33 - a total of 43 duplicates, or 38%).

It's a shame that the duplicates seem to cross contaminate to other team packs as well?

The new 5-packs could be a store-exclusive set because aside from the two new moulds that have the colour-change paint, all of the rest are redecos... and the two new moulds are in every 5-pack, which would mean half of the Botbots in this set would be duplicates.

The two new teams are Bakery Bytes and Lawn League. With no other teams included in these 5-packs (like in the first series), these are not likely to be part of Series 2, which should be another 60+ figures.

No content details or images, but the packaging is said to be about 30cm by 30cm, with a depth that suggests it is the same as the 5 and 8 packs, just bigger.

Based on the price, it wouldn't have more than 10 Botbots. It is listed as being a kilogram, so maybe it is just a small number of Botbots, that are packaged with a buildable display case (like the shopping mall in some of the promotional images).

Coming out September 24th is a guide book for Botbots, but don't get as excited as I was when I first heard about it, as it is only 48 pages, only covers the first two series (123 Botbots), and focuses more on the 500 stickers that come with it than the actual toys (it is actually called a "sticker" book, not a "guide" book).
It is US$10, and can be seen here on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Transformers-BotBots-Official-Sticker-Book/dp/0593125576/).
