Does anyone have experience with this seller?

The website claims
"Robotoyz is an Australian online store specialising in various pop culture collectables and merchandise such as Star Wars, Hasbro Transformers, Takara Transformers, Japanese imports and 3rd party products."

I've never heard of them before. I'm inclined to give them a shot but I'd love to hear any feedback first.

Cheers.

I’ve heard of them for quite a while now and actually did my first order a few weeks back. I’ve only heard positive things about through Facebook so fingers crossed.

pretty sure that is run by someone who posts regularly in the TCCA facebook group and seems very reliable and communicative but I have not tried myself.

I had a not so good experience with them. As soon as you place your order, you get an email/text saying 'item is on it's way'

It's not, all of their 'in stock' and 'warehouse items' are from Japan or O/S so after you place an order, they do the same so it ends up being a massive wait for 'in stock' items.

They don't make that info readily available.

I've met the guy who runs it, but I've never shopped from him before (in all honesty I think he's kinda pricey). He's originally from Sydney but he's now living in Tokyo.

If he is smart, start up proxy shipping service.

I have bought multiple items through robotoyz, I had the similar issue with items being classed as shipped but if you email him he is reasonably quick to respond and easy to deal with, last week I received my wei Jiang ultima guard from him and it was well packed and unable damaged, I received a damaged POTP Optimal Optimus and he was happy to replace it with a better condition one

I've done some business before with him. The email is slightly annoying but the service and goods have always been great.

Does he also sell on ebay? I've bought from a seller on ebay with a similar name....

I was a little bit surprised by the initial wait, but the owner was quick to reply to my queries. I've bought other items subsequently and have been happy with the service.

Got a big order through them this week, well packaged and good communication.

The only let down is the very, very long wait - essentially buying from the wholesaler after you place your order, means that although it’s Australian you’re waiting international timeframes for arrival (actually, longer because of the double handling). That’s fine if you’re not impatient but worth keeping in mind because the site doesn’t do a great job of explaining that point.

Still planning on using them again, probably!

I recently received a couple MPs via their ebay store. Very prompt responses to my questions and the package was well packed. While they won't be my go to I would deal with them again opportunistically via their ebay store.

Can anyone tell me what is the deal with robotoyz shippimg? Seems pricier than other stores. Ive ordered single items before but not seen any way to combined shipping of items on site. Is it any cheaper with combined items or do you still pay around 15 per item?

In other stores i can ship multiple items for the one price, do they do anything like that?

I asked on facebook but answer was a bit vague and didnt really answer my question.

I emailed them and messaged them via Facebook to cancel a pre-order. A week later I've still heard nothing from them. Are they always this slack?

I have had 3 orders from this place and yes received all 3. 2 were preorders so I can't comment on the time it takes between them receiving and dispatching but one of my items is missing a knee, I have emailed and tried contacting them via FB Messenger but never receive a response.

I did order an in stock (Warehouse) item and it took 1.5 weeks before I received a tracking ID but that wasn't wasn't live/picked up for another 3 days and NOT sent through Sendle whom sure are slow but they were their listed as their couriers, in total it took over 3 weeks to receive an instock item from Sydney to Melbourne and I also reached out to them to ask if stickers/decals were included but just like the missing knee never received so much as a one word answer.

I wouldn't order through these people again.

Robotoyz has. $179.95 plus postage.

Thanks, order placed!

Jeez you guys are game ordering from robotoyz. I tried a pre-order once but had to cancel. Submitted several emails & FB messages. Never got any sort of response and lost my deposit. Never again.

You folks should add your experience to the Robotoyz feedback thread, if you haven't already.

... and lost my deposit. Never again.

If you paid/funded with a credit (or debit) card, you should have no trouble disputing the transaction, and getting a refund for the simple reason of "Goods Not Received". The statute of limitations is quite long (a year or longer if I recall?).

I spent 21 years in the military and I never had a problem answering Facebook or emails ;)
Besides, I understand he joined earlier this year? All my drama occurred in 2022...

I didn't think we would be getting the Volvo Optimus here, since we didn't see the holiday version here last year... so I currently have one on its way from Singapore... costing me $130 to have it shipped here. :(

It's the fear of missing out that strikes again...
The reason i hate the delay with putting up preorders

I paid with Paypal but unfortunately went over the 6 month time limit so I wasn't able to get any refunds. He just completely ignored me and took of with 3 lots of deposits :(

Well I actually had 3 pre-orders (placed early 2022) that I had to unfortunately cancel. I sent multiple messages via email & FB. Did not get any sort of response. He even had the cheek to send me balance payment reminders when the pre-orders came in stock. Unfortunately I paid via Paypal and let the 6 month claim period expire, so no refunds. That's 3 lots of deposits gone.

I had a nightmare situation earlier this year and couldn't get through to Joel at Robotoyz. Joel had always been super friendly and helpful, to zero responses at all. Had no idea at the time he wasn't looking after the store.

If you want to get in contact with them, try Stephen at sfreedman521@gmail.com who appears to have taken over for the time being. Can't guarantee he monitors that email either, but I hope it helps?

PayPal's Buyer Protection does not supersede the credit card dispute process. If you funded the PayPal transaction with a credit/debit card, ignore PayPal, and go straight to the issuing bank. If you funded with a bank transfer, there is no greater advice I can give to a collector than to never do that - this being a perfectly example why not.

I’ve ordered a half dozen times or more. Has always delivered. I think my most recent pre-orders were the Wreckers Rule collection & SG Flamewar. They came through one by one over an extended period (6 months or more?) but received all of them eventually.

I did send an email about one of my orders once that was never answered. From comments here sounds like he’s a small operator that realised he wasn’t going to make a living selling niche action figures and had to get a real job!

I’ll keep fingers crossed for you too, but I wouldn’t worry if I were you.

I ordered the Buzzworthy troop builder pack. Paid in full in June
My experience so far: saw a note on their FB page mid August saying "coming in a few weeks". No direct communication.
Sent an email October 2 asking for an update: no answer
Emailed again October 10. Was told "already shipped".
Emailed again October 19 asking for an update. Was told "more than likely fulfilled next week".
October 28: checked order status on their website: "waiting to be fulfilled".
The item has been listed as available on their website for the past two weeks.

They got two more weeks then I'm hitting Paypal for a refund. The lack of progress and inconsistent messages are infuriating.

Regardless if I get the pack or not, based on this experience I would not recommend buying from them.

I’m currently wondering when they’ll ship my Buzzworthy Tow-Line order. Ordered 13/10. Before that I’d ordered Legacy Medix which has since been received but still showing as unfulfilled. No idea how they keep track of things…

Another week, another shipping email... this one seems more ominous after I clicked on the tracking number:
The carrier hasn't updated any tracking result or the tracking number/carrier info is incorrect.

Who is the supposed carrier? This isn't necessarily a bad sign - you can even get it with Oz Post early in the process.

Beryllium Balone

From memory I think they use Sendle, but I’m not 100% sure about that.

JJJ
9th November 2023, 07:39 AM
Oh.

Oh dear.

Does Ozformers have a vomit emoticon...

So, while you will probably get your parcel, you won't see any tracking updates (possibly not until after it arrives, probably not ever).

And sadly I must note that there is a very real chance that your parcel will vanish forever. Look up Sendle - they are truly horrendous (and deliberately set up so that it isn't possible to contact them in any way).

The simple fact that they (Robotoyz) have chosen to use Sendle means that I will never, ever purchase from Robotoyz, and I recommend that nobody else does either. Doesn't matter about all the preceding crap you've described, using Sendle is a huge red flag all on its own.

I wish you the best of luck with your parcel.

Towline just arrived. Didn’t come via Sendle. It’s got a Philippine Airline Cargo label, a Shipmunk label, and an Auspost eParcel label on it. So a real team effort to get it to me in Brisbane!

JJJ

Glad to hear it got there in the end. But as Robotoyz is a self-proclaimed Australian online shop (with a registered main business location of 4680!!!), that's all dodgy as hell, and is another big red flag.

Oh, I've dealt with Robotoyz and I didn't even realise it because it was via Ebay. I wasn't really impressed because not only is Robotoys in the same city I'm in, he even ships his items located in Australia from the same post office I use. He could have just handed me the stuff I bought from him. Instead, they went through the post, which means a 2-day trip to Brisbane to get sorted and another 2-day trip back to Gladstone.

My troop builder pack arrived today (on a Sunday!) via Singapore according to the postage labels.
So they do have that going for them.
But my experience with the lag in postage, inconsistent messaging and a tracking number that didn't work dissuade me from recommending them.
If you're a more patient and trusting type of person, they could be a good back-up option.

The delivery people are getting smashed all year round up here. Our Oz Post Parcel person delivers to us between 6pm and 8pm. Saturday deliveries started about three months ago. I'm guessing on a weekday they rock up to work between four and five am. From experience no amount of money justifies hours where all you do is work and sleep. If you have a regular delivery person and you get a parcel over this time period drop them a little pressie if you are able to, it makes their day a lot better.

DELTAprime

Not that long ago, if the delivery contractor was overloaded and had more items to deliver than they could get done before sunset, the remainder would get delivered the following day. But a couple of months back they started delivering after sunset if they had to. I felt bad when the contractors turned up a couple of times hours after sunset. It's not that important, it can wait IMO. At least we are literally the last street they deliver to on this route, so they get to finish up for the day after my street.

Yes, this is what was happening to our deliveries as the days got longer, then they started delivering after sunset. I thought the same, it can wait until later, it's not a life saving kidney. However I guess that's the state of the supply chain now, online shopping has hit the delivery game hard so they just have to keep working. Mid pandemic North Queensland was very different to most of Oz and was open for business. Withing weeks of our minimal lockdown it ramped up very fast and I was working 15 hour days because demand went through the roof and no one saw it coming. I guess my point is, be patient and be kind to the person dropping off your parcel no matter the date ot time it was expected.
