Vehicle Modes (or is it Vehicles Mode?)

Instantly recognisable as G1 Flywheels on both the tank and jet. The tank is kinda hollow on the back of the turret, but that personally doesn't bother me. This toy really carries over the spirit of TR/LG Overlord, but at a smaller/cheaper Deluxe scale. Both modes are chock full of nicely sculpted detail. Now I'm not a fan of the try hard "battle damage" decoes that they're putting on these toys, but here it's not so bad and kinda works (although I would still prefer just a straight up clean look). I guess because it's only on the sides of the tank and not weirdly splattered through random parts of the toy.

Robot Mode

Surprisingly really solid. The only hollow part are the forearms for the fists to fold into, but other than that it's a reasonably solid toy. This toy is brimming with detail throughout the sculpting, the colours and paint ops work well and it boasts 15 points of articulation. The guns can be held individually or combined into one really long rifle.

Overall

This toy exceeds my expectations and just blows Power of the Primes Battletrap right out of the water. Not that Battletrap is a bad toy per se, but HasTak have clearly learnt lessons from that toy and really improved on it. And to be fair, Battletrap does have 2 individual robot modes which Skytread has sacrificed. As mentioned before, this toy really feels like a smaller/cheaper version of Overlord! :D Highly recommended.

And yeah, I'll be posting a comparison pic with G1 Flywheels later. Feel free to post your own in the meantime.

I totally want this guy. Pretty much the only Deluxe in wave 1 which is a must have. Great review!

So jelly! :p
He looks awesome, really looking forward to getting one whenever they show up here.

Does the tank roll at all?
Yes. The treads don't work but there are little wheels underneath that allow it to roll. That's G1 accurate! :p :D

I'm super stoked they kept the compatibility in for this guy despite not having separate robot modes this time (which I think is a plus anyways)

Most wanted figure in a long time, can't wait to get him!

Can his tank cannon go into his shoulder, similar to how a seekers missile would?

Affirmative

Affirmative

Woo!

That's how I'll display him.

Thanks for the answer.

Flywheels was a firm favourite toy when I was younger so this is the figure I was most keen to get as soon as it was on shelves.

Looks fantastic in robot mode and, aside from some arms under the jet, in alt modes.

One of those perfect CHUG implementations in colour and form. Definitely recommended.

I wasn't very interested in this dude, but once I had him in hand I loved him. Every mode is solid and fun.

Opened up my Skytread yesterday and couldn't get him into tank mode.
The right knee was sticking.
I thought the ridges were too high and tried trimming one, but no luck.
Had a closer look and realised the pin had gone in off-centre, making the knee 2-3mm too big to rotate for transformation.
I had received this from an interstate seller and returning it would have been too much hassle.
I used a soldering iron to heat up the pin to pull it out. In the end I had to bend the plastic while it was warm to get the pin out.
I reshaped the joint back into proper shape and used two small screws at either end to put the knee back into place.
There is some warping/melting damage but luckily it's not visible in robot or tank mode.

You can see on the left how the knee is sticking out a bit.

Got this one recently and it got me thinking that TR Sky Shadow/Overlord must be what prompted this nifty update of Flywheels.

The cross combination compatibility with Battleslash and Roadtrap is a big bonus.

When Flywheels was rumoured I thought it would be a repaint of Overlord.

Was upset that wasn't the case when I saw Battletrap, then was pleased when we got what we got.

I do not understand how you could possibly rate this over Battletrap Gok.

Disappointing is how I would rate this. I loved G1 Flywheels as a kid. He was simple. He was 2 toys in 1. He was super tough and durable. Because of those things he went everywhere with me when I would’ve been too scared to take any others for fear of breakage. I gave it hell.

And after the little engineering marvel that was POTP Battletrap, I was hyped. Well there is no engineering marvel in this guy. I mean the jet mode had enough undercarriage that you could repaint him white and blue and call it Sky Lynx! And the tank mode is just... boring. The whole thing is just boring. The most exciting it gets is how the shins open up to become the top part of the tank and that not very exciting.

Definitely not worth the asking price. Maybe at 50% off. Maybe.

This is basically how I feel.

The slightly better combined mode was not worth jettisoning the individual bot modes, especially seeing as the slightly janky looking vehicle modes were retained.

I didn’t find Battletrap’s individual robot modes worthwhile at all. But I treat them as a nice throw in.

Overall for me they’re on par. Flywheels doesn’t have quite as many joints in his legs which makes him more stable. But he has less play value. I guess it depends what you prefer.

For Legends class figures I found them unobjectionable when taken alone. Not the best legends class figures, but certainly not that much worse than standalone legends like POTP Outback or CW Thundercracker (being two of the three Prime Wars era Legends figures I own).

I haven't played around much with it and it is pretty basic. But I like the design and gimmick and I never had this one as a kid and was jealous of my parents buying this for a birthday present for someone else lol. So I got it.

My mum bought Time Warrior as a gift to my cousin. Granted I wasn't interested in Time Warrior at the time, seeing it as just a cheap cheesy watch instead of a Transformer action figure which I was more interested in (e.g. Powerdasher, Omnibots).

Oh wait... that's exactly what Time Warrior is. :p Still... bring on Siege Time Warrior! :D
