Thanks.

Department stores are actually worth checking out though. HK dept stores get a lot of Hasbro stuff that isn't released here as well as the odd Takara stuff, probably imported through Hasbro HK (much like how we got some Masterpieces imported here by Hasbro AU) - last time I was in HK I found Pepsi Convoys were shelf-warming all over the place in regular dept. store toy sections! But yeah, I don't know anything about specialist stores. :p

I tried to meet up with Remy when I was there last, but it didn't work out (neither of us could find a mutually available time... maybe next time - I'd love to see that guy's collection ;))

Mong Kok:
Try the following shopping malls: Siu Maan (兆萬), Sun Woh (信和), In's Point (現時點), Gaai Wong (皆旺).
They are all within 10-15 min walking distance of each other (if you can get through the crowd). Most people only check out the levels of each mall linked by the esculators. But there're actually even more shops if you take the lift to level 16 of Siu Maan and level 9, 10 of Sun Woh.

Also opposite to the Siu Maan mall is a store called Animate (宇宙船). There used to be 3 in Mong Kok. 2nd one is actually in the basement of Sun Woh mall.

Wanchai:
Try a street called Taai Yuen street (太原街), then a shopping mall called 188 (東方188).

Don't think that because all shops are in the same mall then their prices would be similar. Big mistake. The price difference of one shop and another shop on the same level can be very big. Be sure to check out all shops (at least in the same mall) before taking out your wallet. Also keep in mind that prices in shops can change crazy fast (a few times on the same day for some brand new and hot items).

Kyle, I could be wrong if you've been to HK more recently than me. I was there in Feb this year and every year for once or twice since '99.

Siu Maan (兆萬) is a MUST go. Go to all the upper levels and to the basement levels. Basement levels only open at 4pm daily.

Sun Woh (信和) is not worthwhile to go for a TF fan. It's of late, become a 'soft toy' paradise. I could be wrong though. I've never been to level 9 and 10.

In's Point (現時點), I assume this is the Yau Ma Tei one we're talking about, is another MUST go.

A TF fan can probably skip Animate (宇宙船).

The shops in Taai Yuen street (太原街) are quite scattered and its a really crowded street. Go if you have time.

188 (東方188) was heavenly back in the early 2000s, but it has of late turned into a gaming plus porno paradise. Not much in terms of TFs or even toys, but lots of PC games.

Sugar street in Causeway Bay has great shops too. Wampoa has a shop that sells Encores cheap as chips. There's also a scattering of shops in the Jordan area.

I'll have to dig it out, but I can provide you with the actual addresses of these places.

I was there in Jan this year. :p
I also travel back once a year.
And I also maintain daily contact with people who visit these places two or three times a week.

Level 9 and 10 Sun Woh (信和) IMHO are VERY worthwhile if you've never been there. ;)
As to its lower levels, I still wouldn't miss the newer "cubicle shops". A friend of mine owns one of them in the basement and I got my own Henkei Crystal Convoy from him at a very reasonable price. There're heaps of sellers who offload rare, harder to find exclusive items at these shops all the time. You can find stuff such as Jizaitoys Wheelie and Cyclonus, Henkei Crystal Convoy, Wonderfestival and other convention exclusives if you visit these shops at the right time.

In's Point (現時點), I assume this is the Yau Ma Tei one we're talking about, is another MUST go.

Yes. It's within walking distances of the other Mong Kok shops so I've also included it on the MK list. :p

A TF fan can probably skip Animate (宇宙船).

Actually, Animate sells Japanese TF books which are not sold in most toy shops. Also, I took into account the fact that some of our members are also into many other non-TF robot toys such as SOC. ;)

The shops in Taai Yuen street (太原街) are quite scattered and its a really crowded street. Go if you have time.

Taai Yuen street has one of the most important shops (Hung Hing) which also operates as a toy wholesaler. I would visit them if I'm after the latest Animated and Universe 2.0 toys at very reasonable prices. :)

188 (東方188) was heavenly back in the early 2000s, but it has of late turned into a gaming plus porno paradise. Not much in terms of TFs or even toys, but lots of PC games.

I still wouldn't rule out 188 though. A shop there continues to have a very good supply of rare and older Japanese TFs. My friend bought me my BT-17 there at a SUPER price. :p

Sugar street in Causeway Bay has great shops too. Wampoa has a shop that sells Encores cheap as chips. There's also a scattering of shops in the Jordan area.

Another friend of mine works for the Wampoa shop (Kei Chui) that you mentioned. I often rely on him to help me get items I'm after.

Thanks guys.

I just hope that I'll be able to fit it all in the weekend I have planned there.

If you only have a weekend, then I would just stick with Mong Kok and visit the malls and shops there. They should be enough to keep first time visitors busy for an afternoon. Also, keep in mind that most toy shops in malls do not open until well into afternoon. Some might open after lunch, some after 2 pm. But I would wait until around 3-4 pm for more shops to open so I wouldn't have to visit the same mall twice. You should plan to spend your mornings and lunch times doing something else. TRU, and the Japanese department chain Jusco open much earlier though (Jusco opens around 10 am but I can't remember exactly with TRU). A lot of times you can actually find very good bargains when they discount their products.

Good advice! :p

If you only have a weekend (and I fear its not going to be enough), you may probably want to start toy hunting at speciality stores at 4 through to 11. A good 7 hours sound like a lot, but its not since you actually have to find the building and then navigate through it- imagine narrow corridors with people packed like sardines and shops the size of a cubicle.

Very often you have to weave through people to go from one shop to another, and when you are there you have to wait for people to get out before you can get in to see the stuff. Most shops can only ever fit 2-3 people in them at any one time.

Like Kyle said, you can spend your mornings at TRU and Jusco (i bought almost an entire MOTU (2002) line there for like $7 a sealed figure). Another good place might be Sogo at Causeway Bay (back in the time they had tons of Alt Ravage & Rumble, purple Galvatron reissue, pepsi prime and etc, tons! :D).

Just wondering - is it better to have cash in Hong Kong? or will most of these stores accept credit cards?

I had a problem in Japan where most of the stores would only accept cash and I would like to prepare in advance this time.

Cheers.

Most stores would prefer cash. You can use credit card for the bigger chains like TRU and Jusco though.

Also, most stores (pretty much all of them) only allow you to open and inspect an item AFTER you have paid for it. If you don't mind too much about microscopic paint job problems, I would quickly check for things such as missing parts, whether the toy has 2 x left fists instead of left and right etc etc before leaving the store. Some stores don't give receipts (unless you insist), so I would do a basic checking BEFORE I leave the store, even if the item looks sealed.

Almost forgot to mention, out of all the malls we've mentioned, Gaai Wong (皆旺) is notorious for having a few (not all) shops that use various ways to cheat customers. (1) It is KO central. I would not buy any BT or AT there, even if they look authentic. (2) A few (again not all) shops in this mall sell second-handed opened goods, reseal them and sell them as MISB. I would be very carefully when shopping there. However, not all shops in this particular mall are bad, and if you don't at least have a look in the mall you'd miss out finding a lot of rare items.

The other malls though should be fine and I've never had any problem with them.

I was under the impression that most stores accept credit cards, but in most cases they would also insist on charging the user a 2-3% transaction fee for using the card on top of the agreed price of the item.

GoktimusPrime
7th November 2008, 10:10 PM
Yeah... in Japan all major dept. stores etc. will accept credit cards (although Amex is not as popular as Visa so I would recommend the latter). Small independently owned businesses don't accept cards though. I believe it's the same deal in Hong Kong too... although I tend to play it safe and carry cash anyway even when shopping at large department stores.

I believe it depends on the card company - and different companies charge different rates, which of course the retailer has to charge to the customer. I think Amex tends to insist on a transaction fee which would explain why it's less popular. I used to have Amex but now I use Visa... I often ran into so many places that didn't accept Amex overseas but I don't have that problem with Visa. And I've never been charged any transaction fees for using Visa either. The only advantage I had with Amex was that it gave you good flyer points.

heroic_decepticon
7th November 2008, 10:48 PM
You're right about Amex, yes, it is pretty unpopular.

Most shops I've been to will allow Visa, especially the shops that sell lots of vintage or higher priced stuff. Hey, no one is going to cart along cakes of cash.

I have a Visa-Debit card, they only charge me 2% when there is a currency conversion.

Sounds about right. Some shops don't charge but most would.
I'm not much bothered though because I rather bring the plastic than bundles of cash.

Thought some of you would like to see some photos of what I managed to find in HK in terms of G1 (Ins Point shopping centre). Photos taken in early May during a 1 day stop over.

Most of the other stores that I visited (Sinos Centre, CTMA, Richmond Centre) mostly dealt with all the newer lines (Encore, Henkei, Masterpiece etc).

As some of the other guys have posted here, it's not exactly a pleasant shopping experience because all the shops are more cubicle like. These cubicles are really cramped (some only fit 1 person at a time!) and because the shopping centres get very crowded, you feel a bit rushed and don't have much time to go through all the items on display (particularly loose items which are just mixed all together).

But I zoomed in on the original size photo... TwinCast and Soundblaster were both $980HKD each or about $160AUD each.

Devastator was marked as $6800HKD or about $1110AUD.

Bruticus was marked as $3980HKD or about $640AUD.

Raiden was unmarked.

I think thats the point - the toy stores don't stand out. they are hidden within the mass shopping centres. Here are some photos of the ones I found (sino centre, toy mart and some hobby store). Sino centre and toy mart have heaps of toy stores in them but really really tightly packed.

Just wanted to post a quick update regarding the stalls Siu Maan and Sun Woh (i.e. Sino), for those of you that may be planning to visit Hong Kong soon.

Siu Maan's level 16 stalls are gone as far as I can tell. The security guard told me some of them have moved to level 2 (in the same building), the rest are gone.

Sun Woh's levels 9 and 10 don't have many toy shops either, there was only one "Action Toys" store. Level 7 has a couple of other toy stores though.

Animate (also located near, but outside of, Siu Maan) still has a few TF related items. I saw MP Grimlock there for 800HKD, which was around 200HKD cheaper than the MP Grimlock I saw at "Toy Forest" in Ma On Shan's shopping centre.

hmmm... i was the impression that all the toy shops in Sun Woh has been long gone since like 2004, except for 1 or 2 on the ground floor.

Would add that Inn's Point at Tsim Tsha Tsui is the 'new' CTMA Building far as I can tell from back in 2008. :D

Yup.

CTMA Building is in Mongkok. The basement of CTMA, where all the action is and where I got my MISB Grand Max, only opens at 4pm. So lots of time to do other shopping before that.

Sun Woh is just diagonally behind CTMA (not sure there are toy shops there anymore, but Sam seems to know of some).

There is a Gundam modeller's showroom diagonally opposite CTMA.

ye but Toy Forest at Ma On Shan had Buster OP for HK$498, MP Megatron for $550 or so, and G1 Megatron for HK$480 I think

think u guys should also check out Chai Wan too, specially the 188 Shopping Mall, since typically, they have cheaper takara stock there like alternity and disney label. Then there's a Grand Toys Company in Star Avenue at Tsim Sha Tsui that stocked quite a lot of stuff (including stuff a few years ago, like the Robot Masters Skywarp and Thundercracker), got a 2007 Final Stand dere for only $79.

christalcase is right, Sun Woh is at 582-592 Nathan Road. Nathan Road is a very long road. So come out at Mong Kok station and then search for Nathan Road.

Directions for Sui Man (also called CTMA building)
0. Sui Man is on this street called "Sai Yeung Choi Gai" (it's a pedestrian only street where they sell lots of electronic goods)
1. When you are at Sun Woh and facing Nathan Road (with Sun Woh behind you), turn left and walk till you see a lane/little road.
2. turn left into little lane/road.
3. turn left again when you reach the next road (its less than 2 mins walk).
4. you will now be on the street that Sui Man is on.
5. Look around, you should see an Ajisen Ramen (http://www.restodb.com/indonesia/dki_jakarta/jakarta_barat/grogol/ajisen_ramen/ajisen_ramen.jpg) and also a 4th floor window display with lots of model kits (chances are you'll also see a large Gundam, which hopefully is still there).
6. Sui Man is almost directly opposite Ajisen Ramen.

That's the best I can think of to get you there.

I also highly recommend making a trip to Inn's Point at 530-544 Nathan Road, Yau Ma Tei. Arguably, there's even more stuff there than Sui Man.

I'm going to Hong Kong early August. I'll be staying at a Novotel on Nathan Road and I'll be buying an Octopus card to travel around with.

I'm currently compiling a list of shopping malls and data from this thread. If someone could take a look at what I have so far and check for accuracy then the link is here as a word document (http://www.users.on.net/~henty/Other%20Documents/TRANSFORMERS%20IN%20HONG%20KONG.doc).

A HUGE Thank you to everyone that contributed to this thread. Your input was invaluable during my trip. Here's some feedback:

Mong Kok

兆萬CTMA Centre

Not bad. Superman Toys on 2nd level sucked, very few TFs. A couple cool shops in B2 (2nd basement level). The last shop having some good deals on Alternities/Encores. All recent advice was that level 16 was dead, so didn't even bother going up there to see

Animate

Across the street from CTMA. Not too many Transformers, and I needed someone to open up the cabinet to get the prices, as they were stickered on the bottom of the boxes. That was a bit annoying. The prices weren't very good.

Sun Woh

Not too memorable for me. Initial reports mentioned levels 2, 3, 4, 7 and 9. Action Toys is on Level 9, and the arcades go up to level 2 or 3, but 4 and 7 was nothing any more. #129 Hobby Figure was indeed good for current releases at good prices. Action Toys was run by a nice elderly couple. LOTS of stuff there but only recent lines from recent years, going back to Superlink/Galaxy Force.

Trendy Zone

Nearly useless. Flew through it one night, can't remember much. Very little there, of which nothing was memorable

[ The above are all in a very close area ]

Richmond Shopping Centre

Pretty good. Probably better than any above. Basement leve was great. This was one of the few places I actually saw G1, which was very few and far between generally. Even then, when I did see G1, it was usually real expensive stuff like Raiden or Dezaurus (sp?)

[ This one is about a 5-10 minute walk North from the batch above ]

In's Point

This was the best. Lots of places. Again, mostly new stuff, but this was also one of the places I saw some old school G1 (again, rare expensive G1 at that). Shop #221 had much of the Henkei I wanted. He had a Crystal Convoy but we couldn't agree on price, and he also had both translucent Rodimus/Convoy two packs (Animated and Classics). He was also a very kind, gentle, friendly guy. Strong recommend.

[ This one is about a 5-10 minute walk South from the 1st batch above ]

Wan Chai

Oriental Shopping Center

Another set of arcades. Not too much here, predonimantly games and porn. one guy had a good selection, but not very good prices and unpleasant demeanor.

Tai Yuen Street

Great little street with 4-6 toy stores, all with pretty good prices for current releases.

Causeway Bay

Sogo

Japanese department store. Decent selection, but basically RRP. I bought a shitload of cool Tomica stuff here.

Commercial Building

Two store on opposing sides of the level 16. Similar to Action Toys, a fair bit of stuff, even a bit of loose vintage, but nothing memorable.

And that's about it!

Also, FWIW, I wasn't really looking for G1. I was predominantly looking for cheap, relatively recent Japanese releases (Alternity, Disney, Henkei) so my opinions are skewed in that direction. That being said, I was keeping my eye out for boxed G1, and didn't see much.

I wish I knew this when I went to Hong Kong in 1997 and 2005 :( I've only ever made two Transformer purchases from Hong Kong - in '97 I got Ultra Optimus Primal, and in 2005 I got the Thunderblast/Sky Lynx Mini-Con set.

Ah well... it's good to know if I ever go there again. :)

Thanks Jay. I'll be doing my own status update when I return home to reflect some of the things I discovered. For now this is just a quick update on G1 in Hong Kong.

At the Causeway Bay Commercial Building on Sugar Street I counted roughly 10-12 G1 MIB/MISB Transformers which was a mix of Japanese/American. The Same place also had roughly 10 carded G2 figures, and around 10 MIB Beast Wars figures. This place also had a around 15-20 loose G1/G2 toys but none of them were in very good condition and I believe I spotted a KO Star Convoy next to a MIB Landcross in three lots.

The CTMA Centre had no G1 at all.

Animate Had no G1 obviously because it was stocking new lines.

The Trendy Zone I was told by a reliable source had a store with figurines and transformers at one stage. This must have gone since then as it was all mens and womens clothing on both floors (bought some t-shirts here though as the Engrish print on them is classic!).

The Richmond Shopping Center was comprised of a Basement and around 7 floors above. I spotted a few loose G1 figures, A KO Star Saber (The Sword blade was white plastic so I'm assuming it was a fake) and Victory Leo and one store has around 5-6 MIB Diaclone/Microman toys including a Microman Browning. I bought the new deluxe AT-AT from a store here and plan on going back to this complex to buy an MP Convoy which I don't have in my collection!

IN's point had at least three stores with G1 and some Japanese G1. One store had a loose Road Caesar but the store was closed during trading hours, otherwise I would have asked for a price. Another store which was also closed during trading hours had Road Caesar in box but it was far from mint, MIB Raiden, MIB Deszaras, MIB Star Convoy, MIB Star Saber, MIB Victory Leo, Lucky draw Encore Jazz. Another store had a few Encore Star Convoys. Another store here had a few loose G1 such as Quickswitch.

I can't remember seeing much G1 at the Sino Center, but I saw at least one shop selling about 5 loose toys.

Oriental Shopping Center 188 had only one G1 figure - a beat up old Six Shot in shop 252. There was a shop that was mentioned to me right next to this complex in a building heading towards Hennessey Road addressed as '302-308 Hennessey Road' which sold a lot of Encore G1 Primes.

I completely missed Tai Yuen Street and I don't know why, it was a long day. I won't be going back to look for it.

SOGO to me was like a Japanese version of what MYER and David Jones are here. Like Jay said, had new lines at RRP. Won't be going back for toys.

I have yet to go to the Whampoa in Hung Hom or Ma On Shan. I also got an opportunity to go to Macao for a day to visit a friend but didn't get any time to look for transformers. Tomorrow is my last day of shopping before I leave on Sunday afternoon.

This is on level 16 of No. 3 Sugar Street yes? They have a lot of loose G1 too. The prices are a tad high. There should have been this MIB C-114 near the window just further down the aisle you would have taken those shots.

I'm staying in the Mong Kok area. I went to one shop, HobbyBase tonight. Quite a bit of stuff there, mostly Hasbro (including the Drag Strip HA wave) buy also Takara and Third party. I had to make notes of prices as the divide by 8.3 conversion isn't a sum I can do quickly in my head. But already know I'm going back there for at least one thing.

For the conversion, I used to calculate as 100 HKD = 15 AUD. Was mentally easier for me. Now though, that would be 100 HKD = 12 AUD. Don't you have a whizzbang iPhone? When I was there I got a great prepaid sim with data... not that you need live conversion, but Google Maps was very handy.

I liked In's Point the most, but I was mostly in the market for Henkei, Alternity and Disney... basically stuff you can't get in Oz.

Paulbot
10th July 2011, 01:31 AM
Despite a late start, I managed to get to a lot of the shops on the list today although a couple were closed. The map is very helpful HD.

I did use my phone's calculator a lot (my iPhone isn't network unlocked, I ran out of time before I left home to do it). With USD, Pounds and Euros, the AUD was so close it was never an issue. I spent over $1300 HKD on TFs today but when I convert it and it's just $160 I feel relieved.

I ended up picking up a Japanese exclusive, some Japanese Animated, and a couple of DOTM toys much cheaper than at Australian retail. There's a couple more things I'm still considering and may go back for, all of which missed an AU release.

I'm kind of bugged that Hatchet has been released but has sold out everywhere. Just keep seeing the "Battle Steel" Prime repaint from the same wave.

It definitely pays to shop around. I saved $110HKD on one DOTM leader by not buying it at the first store I saw it at, but rather the fourth.

One store had two Japanese Fort Max boxes which looked fairly tempting but would probably drain my funds.

Paul, if you're at Sino Centre check out 9th (or 11th) floor as well because there is this shop that sells recent releases at pretty good prices. Also, check out basement, 1st to 3rd floor and 5th.

CTMA is pretty useless nowadays other than the main Hot Toys outlet. I don't even go there anymore.

There is a ANIMATE right opposite CTMA which is okay, but don't lose sleep if you miss it.

CTMA is pretty useless nowadays other than the main Hot Toys outlet. I don't even go there anymore.

I was just in Causeway Bay Toys R Us and there were literally thousands of DOTM. Ocean Terminal will have heaps of them as well - probably more as its a large stall. Hobbybase will have heaps of DOTM (not as much as Toys R Us).

The only thing I have struggled in HK to find is some rare third party figures (i.e. Bezelboss) but everything else I find in HK.

I love this city for toys!

I did check out that Animate store yesterday. It had the cheapest price for DOTM Vortex so I happily bought that, but not a big range otherwise.

I've tried a couple of TRU stores and all have sold out all their DOTM Hatchets. Scalpers?!?

But I went back and scooped up a couple more things I'd seen yesterday and one extra find. Getting a good price for the United Darkside Two-Pack took the most running around for.

So I'll be off to the other side of the planet in a few days. On the way home, I have 2 day stopover in Hong Kong. I'm staying down the southern end of Nathan Rd.

Where are some good TF and Macross places to check out? There is nothing in particular I'm after but will look anyway to see what I can find.

Cheers.

The Richmond building on Argyle St (109), there are two entrances (that I am aware of) one has toys one does not, if you get the right one you will be in mini heaven :-) Some great little stores, don't open until after 3pm or 4 though.

Is the information provided here still accurate? It looks like I'll be taking my mum to Hong Kong for a holiday in October. Plus I wanna catch up with HD!:)

Perhaps see if they still show up on a google map search.

Also check out this topic as well (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=11556).

After being at most of those places, I'd wager 80-90% are all still there.

Dude. Let's go toy hunting!

Most of the info is accurate, except:

- Animate opposite CTMA centre has closed down.
- Sino Centre / Sun Woh (信和) - has a lot more shops now. Basement, 1st to 3rd floor, 5th floor (lots of vintage stuff), 9th floor.
- Toyzone 16 has moved from Causeway Bay to Tai Khoo.

Perhaps see if they still show up on a google map search.

Yup, check the maps there.

Hi all. I'm probably going to HK sometime in the next few months. :)

Want to try and pick up that Optimus MP-10 Rerelease and maybe that MP Grimlock release if I'm EXTRA lucky.

I know to check the Dept stores, but are there any places I should check for Asia Exclusives and Takara stuff? ;)

Thanks. :)

I think everything is posted somewhere in this topic somewhere... I have to go through it too (and the other source topics here (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=11586)) before I head over there in November.

If you visit Sino Center 3rd floor, the price will be more or less the same as the department store. He accept credit cards without extra charges. Members will have 10% off and you can join on spot.

If you really want a good bargain, go to Yau Ma Tei MTR station exit B, and try to find a small shopping mall "In's Point". you can see an HSBC on the ground floor as well as a clothing store. Next to it, there is an escalator going up and the first and second floor are mostly toys and model. This mall might not has as many TF as the Sino 3rd floor, but the price is surely a lot better. You MUST compare the price.

There is a store on the first floor where it also sells clothes and some DC/ Marvel superhero, and it host by a lady wearing glasses. Beware. Some of the goods there are KOs.

for general TF, there is one on the 2nd floor near the escalator always has good bargain, but not too many choices there.

One more thing, all these stores open after 3 pm everyday and close at around 9 pm at night. some store even open as late as 5:30 or 6:00. Do not go there too early otherwise you will probably find everyone are close.

Went to TRU Harbour City last night and today. Impressive. Very impressive.
Gen Metroplex- about $164 AUD
Hasbro MP Soundwave- about $200 AUD
Hasbro MP Acid Storm- didn't enquire price
Commemorative Series Sideswipe and Rodimus Prime- about $40 AUD each
Commemorative Series VII Ultra Magnus- $55 AUD, IIRC
Generations FOC Starscream, Air Raid, IDW Orion Pax, BB, Megatron and Trailcutter- all $21 AUD (they had TC and Hoist too, but looked to only be on display)
FE Voyager Bulkhead, RID Voyager Starscream, AM Darkness Megatron - about $40 AUD
Hasbro Generations Voyager Springer, Blitzwing and Sandstorm- about $40AUD
YOTS Omega Supreme- didn't check price, though I think a bit higher than ours
YOTS Optimus Prime- didn't bother
YOTS Magnus- didn't bother
The combiner bits of the Transformers GO! stuff
Prime Cyberverse Legends- lots of various characters
Transformers GTR Cars and stuff- didn't bother

Sino Centre:

Animate: Couldn't really see anything from inside, due to boxes all over the floor, but from the outside, I could see:
AM Shockwave
AM Ultra Magnus
AM-33 Final Battle Megatron
Takara Generations FOC Combaticons
Takara Generations FOC Skywarp

Ice Block: (think it was called that)
Set of Encore Soundwave, Tapes 17 and Tapes 19 (couldn't seperate 17 :()
Encore Ratchet
25th Anniversary Optimus Prime- $110 AUD
Encore Hoist
Encore Metroplex
Generations 2010 Deluxe Thundercracker and Sky Shadow

Various products from stores (can't remember names)
MP-13 Soundwave with Laserbeak and coin (nearly every store was trying to get rid of them :p)
Kabaya WFC Optimus Prime and Hot Spot
Quite a bit of GTR Stuff, notably Megatron
Some Binaltech/AT stuff, didn't bother noting names

Didn't see much G1 stuff though and lots of boxes and stuff on the floors made it hard to see really anything. Also some... questionable stores there... :D

I'm transiting in Hong Kong for a day in May... it's a weekday... I arrive early in the morning ~8 am and leave late at night ~ 11 PM. For what I understand, the "independent" specialty stores won't open until 3 PM at the earliest? I need to crawl through this thread and the internet to figure out where will be the best places to hit on my pretty limited schedule. How are the smaller stores with credit cards? I'm assuming if they take credit card they'll be adding a few % surcharge?

3Pm? Try 5 mate. I found the better independent stores at In's point, on Nathan rd, Tsim Shu Tsai or something however, most don't do cards, cash only!

Toys r us are alright, a bit of hit & miss though. The best I found was at Ocean Terminal & Central.

they's links to Heroic Decepticon's toy maps here somewhere, they are an incredible resource for toy hunting!

Check out the maps here (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=11556)...

Then have a quick look over this one (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=2602)...

And check out some details here (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=16178) which will link to the full recent report (http://www.toycollectors.com.au/blog/hkjp1.html) on what and where I found stuff in HK just last November.

Yes, 2-3pm is when many opened when I was there, until about 10pm-midnight.
That should give you about six hours before heading back to the Airport. Heroic Decepticon's maps and mine will show where the main clusters are (Kowloon on the mainland, and HK Central on the island). Both should be about as easy as each other, if you use the train from the Airport and get a taxi from either Kowloon or Central stops.
HD should be able to tell you about Credit Cards, as I didn't buy anything from the independents, and didn't notice it (maybe something in my photos might show signage if they do).

Sorry, I wasn't looking, so didn't notice any. The stores in HK weren't as good for TFs than the ones in Japan... at least, the ones in Kowloon that I got to check out.
I want to go back, to check out the HK Island stores... but it might be another year before I can do that.

i saw one of the 6ft G1 style optimus primes in Macau the shop was closed at the time I got there but i"m sure it wasnt cheap.

Kowloon has some awesome TF shops but you really have to go searching in hidden shopping centres I used the below link as a guide for searching for toy shops for whoever goes there next.

http://heroicdecepticon.blogspot.com.au/2011/07/heroics-toy-shop-locator-guide-for-hong.html

There TRU had a massive Movie Optimus prime made from lego that was taller than me I could have stayed in the TF section for hours they had G1s in the book collecter style on the shelves this was only last year.
