Thoughts:
* A very nice looking toy. Sculpt looks great, as do the paint ops and decos.
* Love how the toy comes with both the shoulder cannon and rifle.
* Very impressive range of articulation, including wrist swivels.
* The alt mode to me looks 70% Earthen and 30% Cybertronian, similar to Sideswipe. I personally prefer Universe/Henkei Hound's more Earthlike vehicle mode.
* The cannon clips in tightly, unlike Univ/Henkei Hound's which is loose.
* Also like Sideswipe, there are gaps at the back of the vehicle where the knees are. This contrasts with the Univ/Henkei figures which have better looking tail panels; although admittedly UH Hound has chunkier feet and UH Lambor has the rear panels as kneecaps.
* Not a big fan of the try-hard battle damage

Overall
Same as how I feel about Sideswipe; because I already own the Henkei versions of both figures, I personally don't feel the desire to own the Siege versions. But if you don't already have the UH versions then this toy will suit you just fine. I'd definitely get this toy if I didn't already have Henkei Hound. :)

Nice summary Goktimus. Can't ever say I wanted a Hound but this figure may just change my mind on that......

Don't forget that there's an MP Hound on the horizon. This is part of the reason why I'm not getting Siege Hound. I'm still perfectly happy with my Henkei and Binaltech Hounds, and I fully intend on pre-ordering MP Hound... so yeah, really don't need Siege Hound.

But Siege Hound is still a very nice toy in its own right.

True, but an MP Hound means MP prices :D

Plus to be honest I shy away from Earthen mode figures a lot these days, so this would fit the bill.

Fair point. A lot of recent CHUG toys are becoming like "Poor Man's MP," and I absolutely mean that as a compliment. We fans are really spoiled for choice these days (but hey, don't let that stop people from whinging about it :))

Good summary. Love the dot point style reviews.

I'm actually quite taken with this but if I'm being honest with myself I'm curious as to who they will repaint it into. I might skip the Hound version.

He'd make a good Roadbuster I reckon....

I think that the current CHUG Roadbuster (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=19367) is pretty darn awesome and I don't know if this would be any better. Perhaps a custom Ironfist?

I reckon Turbomaster Scorch would be a good fit, if they wanted a left-field repaint (well, not that left-field, I think Botcon did it before).

I can see Roadbuster too, but repainting him as someone with a similar colour scheme makes less sense.

But the original Classics Hound was one of those rare figures that never got a proper repaint, for some reason, so it could happen again.

I think the colour scheme and paint in general is better than the previous CHUG Hound, I found the green too light on that one.

This is a def get for me

I think Trailcutter would work better as Scorch.

Hound's a darn hard figure to repaint as a recognisable character, which may be why he's one of the later characters to be done as an MP Car. The only one I can think of is Detritus, but perhaps not enough fans are aware of this character or would necessarily want to get a Detritus repaint. It'll be interesting to see if MP Hound gets redecoed as another character. I'd personally consider getting an MP Detritus.

The colours on the previous CHUG Hound looks fine to me. :o

More photos of the older Hound here (http://otca.com.au/boards/showpost.php?p=600490&postcount=3475); but yeah, I'm happy enough with my current Hound that I don't feel the urge to grab Siege Hound. But Siege Hound is still a very nice figure in its own right. :) Definitely recommended if you don't already own a CHUG Hound.

Yep, and thats fine. Personally I wanted something of a darker hue which is what we seem to be getting here.

Fair enough. As I said, it's a wonderful toy in its own right and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I generally cannot wait for Siege to hit local stores. :)

I'm a fan of this figure and I do like his colours better, however I really dislike how "breakable" his legs can be in transformation.

I'm always a soft touch, so I can only imagine what would happen with some heavy handed people or, more to the point kids.

I reckon MP Hound would much sooner get a + redeco of some kind.
Regarding the Siege toy, perhaps a retool. Swindle?

Was thinking of getting this Hound but since I already have the Henkei/Universe version I won't.

Swindle would be a good repaint only with a different head sculpt.

That's one heck of a transformation!

What is the 5-point star suppose to represent on Cybertron?

I don't really know how to feel about this.

I feel like this just doesn't have the build quality that the WFCS Sideswipe I bought has. The elbows are kind of loose and the shoulders don't fully plug in on mine. They sit where they're meant to, but they don't lock in any meaningful way, even with just friction. I also dislike how the arms don't really lock in anywhere in alt mode.

On the other hand, I love the weapons (and especially the magazine for the longer gun) and the transformation is nifty, arms aside.

I don't dislike it, but when photos came out this was the figure I was expecting to like the most of wave 1. That hasn't come to pass.

I'd heard a lot of praise so I was expecting something pretty great. There are some pleasant enough elements to the transformation, but I can't get over the dodgy arms under the alt mode. Aside from that I do think he's pretty solid though.

Not really sure what the appeal of this figure is. The more pics I see of him the more he looks like a massive step backwards from Henkei/Universe Hound. :/
The headsculpt is nice though. Puts him ahead of CW Hound at least.

Yeah the hinge joint of the jeep’s side pieces isn’t strong enough on mine and has come off multiple times

The arms are bad and feels like several things that should lock in just don’t including the shoulders, back of the jeep in jeep mode (although locks in for robot).

Would be nice if the legs didn’t have to be in a wide pose to stand up.

Overall better than CW version I guess so if you’re wanting to replace that figure give this one a go.

Yeah... I'm in the same boat. Looking at the comparison photos, I much prefer the look of the Henkei version.

I initially voted I wouldn't be getting this one but what caused the change of heart is the fact this Hound has all these weapon ports all over. Something the Henkei/Universe Hound doesn't. And so attaching all the weapons from Generations Roadbuster makes for quite a compelling sight in both modes.

PS. I like that the Siege Hound has more G1 authenticity than the Henkei/Universe version.

Is it closer to the G1 toy or cartoon?

Strictly speaking toys here. Yes when you compare the shade of green and design (more straight edges/box-like) to the Henkei/Universe one.
