Only some lLeaked images from China so far, but SS-38 has been revealed to be the "Gen1" styled Optimus Prime from the Bumblebee Movie... specifically noting itself as being the truck that we saw on the Golden Gate Bridge in the Movie.
Maybe this toy was being held back from its official reveal until after the Bumblebee movie started in most countries (this week), as it could look like a spoiler... if it made people think that Optimus Prime had a role on Earth during the movie.
The cover of the instructions (http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/12/19/transformers-studio-series-ss-38-cybertronian-optimus-prime-bumblebee-movie-instruction-sheet-379135) were leaked first... followed by this photo of the toy in robot mode (http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/12/19/possible-studio-series-ss-38-cybertronian-optimus-prime-from-the-bumblebee-movie-picture-379145) within a couple hours... and then a photo of the back of the box (http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/12/19/studio-series-ss-38-optimus-prime-bumblebee-movie-back-of-packaging-image-379211) within half a day of that.

Normally, I eschew both Bayverse/movie designs (I did have Blackout for a while but he was given as a gift when I left my old job), and usually also eschew the 'key players' in any continuity (my small collection being a major reflection of that fact)

...... but damn. I mean DAMN. This looks gorgeous. I may have to break BOTH my rules.

The irony is in terms of the designs, much like the story itself, that Travis Knight has proved that Michael Bay really had no idea what he was doing with this franchise as a director. I remember Bay claiming ad nauseum that the G1 designs were "too boxy" and would look crappy on the big screen ("boxy" was his favourite adjective used to describe them from memory). Yet the moment Travis Knight sticks the finger to that argument, we get faithful homages to the G1 designs which look like they're going to be music to a scalper's ears and agiony to a fan's wallet.

About time we got someone in the director's chair who knew what they were doing.

Couldn't have said it better if I tried!

I'm so over G1 inspired designs right now it's not funny.

I would love to see an Optimus Pram. Or an Opt-out--health-record Prime.

This made me laugh harder than it probably should have :D:D:D:rolleyes:

EDIT: Isn't Optimus Pram what G1 Ironhide calls Prime anyways??

A few updates via Seibertron:

Some In-Hand Images of SS-38 (https://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/new-inhand-images-of-studio-series-38-voyager-class-transformers-bumblebee-optimus-prime/42711/) with comparisons of Evasion Mode Prime and MP-10

A Video Review of SS-38 (https://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/video-review-of-studio-series-voyager-class-38-bumblebee-optimus-prime-with-transformation-and-more/42713/) with similar comparisons, scale, and featuring transformation. As far as I could see it didn't have any voiceover its just showing off both modes and transformation.

The more I see, the more I like, the more I want.

No trailer :(
The clever thing to do would be to give this toy a trailer hitch that makes it reverse-compatible with a previous Optimus Prime's trailer, like say G1 OP's trailer. Obviously adding a wheeled plastic box would significantly add to the cost of the toy, but giving a simple hitch would improve the play value and allow collectors to simply attach another trailer to it. :) And it's not unheard of for them to sneak in a feature like this -- Reveal the Shield G2 Laser Optimus Prime is able to connect with the original 1995 G2 Optimus Prime toy's trailer. :)

Agreed Gok! I don't need more Prime trailers taking up space in storage and adding unnecessary extra cost to my purchase. I like what they did with the Legendary Prime allowing it to be compatible with the MP-10 trailer, that's all I need for the few times I feel like taking Legendary Prime off the shelf and putting it into truck mode.

From what I saw on the video, he does indeed have a hitch! So lets hope its compatible!

Yeah but for those of us that specifically collect Primes with trailers it’s a letdown. The only time he was seen in his Earth alt-mode he had a trailer so I would have liked one here. If I have to remove the trailer from another Optimus it defeats the purpose of my display for me.

Yup buddy I already posted them :D

But here's a direct link to the vid. (http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMzk5ODg4MzE3Mg==.html?sharekey=c1ef30af98cd3bf 0b07ce2c1d87631d68) It looks like a Chinese site and has a LOT of ads to wade through but the review has no voiceover once you get there.

Apparently he's out in some US stores now (https://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/studio-series-38-bumblebee-movie-optimus-prime-out-at-select-stores-in-the-us-new-pics/42884/) and here's some more photos of him, with comparisons to Siege Prime. There's also some really detailed up-close shots of his truck and robot mode.

The more I see you, Prime, the more I want you....
