Yeah you need an up to date Flash player.

Just in case my link is dodgy, there is another link to it from Ryall's Blog (http://ryalltime.blogspot.com/2008/11/tf-spotlight-blurr-5-page-preview.html).

Sorry if this question has been asked before or the answers are elsewhere but I am too sick and tired to search around but are they going to continue the spotlights even though they are apparently done with the "tion" series?

Yes they are, they are good tie in books that expand new and existing characters.

Since AHM is meant to be in continuity, These Spotlights are just furthering the back history if the IDW-verse. If/when AHM is discarded or retconned, it'll be interesting to see what happens to AHM based Spotlights, do they become retconned, or mashed into the actual continuity.

Does that cover with the picture of Blurr running remind anyone of The Flash? Or was that intentional...

...Blurr's always been drawn/animated that way since 1986. That's why he's called Blurr - because he moves so fast that he leaves a blurr behind. In G1 toy continuity he can only do so in vehicle mode, but the cartoon and comics transferred the ability to robot mode as well.

From his G1 tech specs:
"In vehicular mode, he can travel faster than the speed of sound, leaving a blurred image in his trail."

From the G1 animation:

Yeah, I'm aware of that..

I merely meant, that the way he was drawn looked remarkably similar to poses I've seen The Flash drawn in... But I guess it's unavoidable considering the fact they both leave a "blur" behind them when they run... Just something I thought was funny

I just picked this one up and read it today - I enjoyed it quite a lot. The art is nice, a different style to Guidi's and Figueroa's, but still really nice in its own way.

One thing about Blurr I found strange though, but won't talk about it as I don't want to spoil it.

*shrug* They're running really quickly and leaving a blurred trail. I don't think it was an intentional reference to the Flash (or Superman, Quicksilver, Tron et al.)... it's just a fact that objects moving at high speeds can appear to be blurred to a slower eye/shutter. And because they're both running then they're obviously going to be looking similar - it's just a typical runner's stride. I think any similarity is purely coincidental.

But artists often use other artists as a source of reference. Even some of the big guns in the comic industry do. I know that if I was drawing Blurr, I'd go to the Flash for sure so I wouldn't rule it out entirely.

Oh yeah, comic artists are constantly ripping each other off. ;) As to whether this particular artist took inspiration from the Flash or Quicksilver or Superman or any other super-fast running comic character... who knows.

On another note, I really like the look of Blurr in this comic. Very Hermes-esque (as was Golden Age Flash now that I think of it, heh - so I guess that strengthens jacksplatt11's theory :)).

You can so totally tell Blurr's friends are gonna shank him in the back, capone style!!!!!

Blurr is my fave G1 character, ive been eagerly anticipating this particular spotlight and these preview pages.

I dont like the redesign, he was already a cybertronian car in G1 cartoon et al, i dont see the need for a change in design, say like IDW Ironhide.

But Blurr is Blurr

so, woooooooooooooooooooooooooo

was kinda hoping his speech would be all run together like in Marvel, so fanboy ah!:o

I saw this comic at Minotaur and was intrigued on Cybertron's 5 fastest...
I wonder who are the other 4..

The green one is Piston and the red one is Fasttrack. I don't know about the third one although his head looks similar to Dreadwind's.

Both Dreadwind and Fasttrack are Decepticons in G1 - but I don't know if these are meant to be the same characters or just different characters with the same name/similar likeness. *shrug* I think this story is set before the Autobot-Decepticon war so at this moment the Autobot and Decepticon factions wouldn't even exist - they would all just be Transformers. Blurr is obviously destined to join the Autobots and perhaps some of the other characters will join the Decepticons.

A guess of mine would put Bluestreak in there. Can't think of anyone else though unless we start naming jets.

In Alt mode G1 Mirage would have to be at least close to the top 5 wouldn't he?

Hi there, I was the artist for that cover: I hadn't intentionally designed it as a homage to The Flash, but I guess there are similarities there.

When I was designing it I was thinking more about 1930s Art Deco posters that used a streamlining style to depict moving trains, planes and grand prix cars. I chose a retro style as a subtle connection to the issue being set in the "golden age" of Cybertron's past.

Cheers, Trevor.

Based on G1 I thought Jazz and Hot Rod would be up there.

It would depend on the length of the race for Windcharger wouldn't it. Doesn't he burn out quickly?

Yep, but he's otherwise fastest.

Isn't it a good thing that they didn't use names like Sprint (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Windcharger_%28G1%29), Blow-Out (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Cliffjumper_%28G1%29), Spinout (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Sunstreaker), Winch (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Hoist_%28G1%29) & Guzzle (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Trailbreaker_%28G1%29)? (Those names sound so Gobot-ty :D)

There's also the fact that the Flash's design is based off Greek Mythology (Hermes/Mercury) anyway - the idea of having ornate wingalings has become iconic with speed (e.g.: Interflora logo). :)

http://www.attheflowerpot.com.au/assets/images/Interflora-Yellow-logo02.gif

I like the streamlined look of Blurr's robot mode - it does evoke that he is built for speed. :D

Oh yeah, welcome to the board. :)
