I made this thread title a little generic because I know a lot of people baulk at Statues, be it because of price or "Does not transform".
This way, maybe we can keep a bunch of statue news in here for the few people who enjoy it?
Anyway, the new PCS Soundwave statue goes up for sale this Friday (Thursday for the US). $225USD
It looks great and I'll be getting it, however my memory is failing me... where is that swap out cannon from?

It's from the episode where he jump starts Skyfire when they first thaw him out from the ice.
I think.
Actually, I'm pretty sure it is.

Pricing isn't insurmountable when you consider they don't come out till 2020. $50 a month gets you there easy.
That said, these aren't your typical impulse purchases, so make sure you really want it in addition to being aware how much space the larger ones can take up.

true, but I'm saving my $50 a month for other transformers stuff, like MP and SS and Siege. not to mention a kick arse display cabinet.

I still need to see that movie :(
From promotional images though, I always thought the Transformers thighs looked a bit... off.
It looks better here but still not quite right.
PCS has teased with early WIPs of Megatron and Grimlock:

Also:
"Before we pose Megatron out we need to do some turn art. This helps us figure out the characters proportions first before we start sculpting. Trying to pull all the cool interpretations of this baddie from the original G1 cartoon & hopefully we create a cohesive vision of this piece that will make the collectors happy!
This is just the start of this creative process and is only enhanced by the finished sculpt and paints.
We can not wait to share more of this statue with you as it nears completion!"

Yeah Flame Toys are action figures. Ricidulusly high-quality, premium stuff. I have Tarn and can confidantly say that he is worth the asking price to the cent. Thanks to Takara making Masterpiece so expensive and pricing me out, it gives me money to possibly pursue more of the Flame Toys outings. Ironic.

11th June 2019, 06:32 PM
Sorry... they were all "licensed" non-convertible items that aren't from Hasbro, so I didn't realise that there was a difference when looking at the news postings.
So basically, Flame Toys are pretty much licensed Actionmasters, while the other two are motionless statues? But they are all made from the same sort of materials though?
KELPIE
12th June 2019, 01:08 PM
Licensed action masters could be a way of saying it? However there are many companies and products that fit this category, I feel that sticking to the old action figures naming is best, since Actionmasters have their own set aesthetic, gimmick and narrative.
Statues and action figures are generally made from different materials.
3A sell action figures too, however I didn't mention it, because the photos are actually of display statues for their booth :p

The Megatron statue must be an over-sized prototype, as they usually make 25cm statues (which is the size of the Optimus in the first photo above), but the display label at SDCC says "Museum scale (https://news.tfw2005.com/2019/07/19/san-diego-comic-con-2019-pop-culture-shock-g1-megatron-statue-prototype-images-392555)" so maybe this is meant to be a new larger scale?

On the smaller end of the scale come some statue type figures (at least, I don't think they have any moving parts), that are sold without any colourings, because you have to paint them (stickers/decals are included though). The back of the packaging tells you what paint colours you will need, but you can customise them with any colour scheme you want.
They are by a company called Wizkids, and the first wave should be out in the next week in America (https://news.tfw2005.com/2020/01/09/wizkids-g1-transformers-deep-cuts-miniatures-wave-2-revealed-403400) for US$5 each. (if they make it here, they are likely to be in comic shops or a store like Zing)
Wave 1 has Optimus, Megatron, Starscream and Bumblebee.
Wave 2 has Soundwave, Arcee, Ironhide and Cartoon Rumble (blue one) with Laserbeak.

I'm not much of a customiser, particularly since I don't like to "destroy" a Transformers toy by creating something new from it, but these I could really get into, as they are a blank slate to do with as you please... kinda like the custom class toys at BotCon.

Imaginarium have shown off their upcoming Gen1 Devastator statue (https://news.tfw2005.com/2020/03/22/imaginarium-art-g1-devastator-statue-color-images-408479), clocking in at a massive 1 meter tall.
Apparently it was first announced waaay back in 2016, so after taking four years to develop, it might be coming out at the worst time.
Price is said to be revealed next week, but I can guess that it will be about a US Grand... which I can imagine very few people are going to be able to afford at the moment.

Not sure if these have been mentioned here before, but found in America at Target, are a set of six plastic diorama statues from Jazwares (https://news.tfw2005.com/2021/01/07/zoteki-g1-transformers-statues-by-jazwares-found-at-us-retail-427006), that combine together to form one battle scene. (not sure about it being an "iconic" scene, as per the packaging, as it doesn't look like anything I've seen in a cartoon or comic)
The set of six includes the most iconic characters - Optimus, Bumblebee, Grimlock, Megatron, Soundwave (with Laserbeak), and Starscream. Apparently Starscream is a limited edition chase figure, which is kinda stupid if this is a set that has the incentive of collecting all of them to complete the diorama. It's like having one of those build-a-figure sets with one toy being a hard to find limited figure, preventing most people from completing the bonus figure, or having to pay excessive amounts of money to get it.
They were US$8 each, and look to be about Deluxe sized, so pretty good pricing.

They have the X-Men versions of these currently at Big W, so I wouldn't be surprised if these made their way there too.
Going by memory I think the boxes are about 6-7 inches tall, which would make the figures themselves about Scout / Legends sized

Meanwhile, Yolopark have shown off their Earth Mode Optimus Prime (https://news.tfw2005.com/2021/06/09/yolopark-iies-bumblebee-movie-earth-mode-optimus-prime-announcement-434957)figure from the Bumblebee Movie, for a very hefty us$2750, in early 2022.

Not sure if these have been seen in Australia yet, but I saw them tonight in a Toyworld for $25 each.
I just saw them on the Mackay Toyworld site for $20 each (https://www.toyworldmackay.com.au/product/transformers-zoteki-series-1-asst/), and they have the image of Skywarp, which is one of the two chase figures... so not sure if they actually have it, or have both chase figures.
I was really hoping that they would at least show up at BigW, as they had the other series for $16 each and likely to have sales... but the other series have been on clearance for a while now, so still no sign of the Transformers ones after about 9 months of the other two series.

A Grimlock Diorama statue (https://news.tfw2005.com/2021/09/02/premium-collectibles-studio-grimlock-diorama-supreme-edition-full-gallery-reveal-440426) (with both modes), for release late 2022, standing at an impressive 75cm tall... for a hefty us$1850 (about au$2500).
It looks nice, but who is buying all of these thousand-dollar statues, and affording all of the expensive collector-focussed toys.

I think the Cybertronian mode Optimus would have been released by now, so now we are getting some good looks at the Earth mode variant (https://news.tfw2005.com/2021/11/22/yolopark-iies-bumblebee-movie-earth-mode-optimus-prime-official-gallery-445268) that comes out early next year.
The price is the same as the first version, which equates to about au$4000... each!
That's 8 Grand if you wanted both forms of Optimus Prime from the Bumblebee Movie.

Prime 1 Studios Megatron (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/01/17/prime-1-studio-war-for-cybertron-megatron-statue-official-gallery-product-information-448538) (WFC Siege), at about 30cm and probably very expensive... to go with a WFC Siege Optimus statue.
Meanwhile, Threezero have revealed a new Gen1 Bumblebee (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/01/18/threezero-mdlx-bumblebee-in-hand-448589), at a smaller size size of about 12cm, that is highly detailed, and (only) us$60.

A new reveal by Prime-1 Studios of some upcoming statues of theirs (https://news.tfw2005.com/2021/05/22/prime-1-studio-next-level-showcase-2-war-for-cybertron-optimus-prime-megatron-dotm-jetwing-optimus-prime-and-rotf-sideswipe-statues-433857)... and some look very big, so are probably very expensive.
The big one is DOTM Jetwing Optimus, which is almost 1 meter tall!
Two others are WFC Optimus and Megatron (separate statues).
And a teaser of ROTF Sideswipe.
The two big and VERY expensive WFC statues of Optimus and Megatron by Prime-1 Studios have been cancelled (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/04/22/prime-1-studio-premium-masterline-transformers-war-for-cybertron-optimus-prime-megatron-statues-cancelled-454349), a year after they were revealed, due to lack of interest.
They also note rising costs, but that wouldn't have been a factor for lack of interest, as the people interested in these sorts of things are already willing to spend over a thousand dollars on a non-playable $50 toy, so would be willing to pay a little bit more if the price went up a little more. Rising costs wouldn't have doubled the price of these, so the level of demand on pre-orders would not have significantly changed the numbers to meet their minimum orders.
Don't get me wrong, I think the detailing on most of these is spectacular, but I like most "toy" collectors, don't value spending over a thousand dollars on just one item, that doesn't do much or anything... unless you are a dedicated fan of a specific character.
These are a couple of youtube videos of one person in America who has a large collection of statues, including about a dozen Transformers ones, and he mentions the retail price of a few of them (which would be about double in Australian dollars, or more if you include shipping, as the big ones are said to be about 40kgs).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODPf-B69Yyk
This one shows the construction of his biggest one, DOTM Shockwave, which ships in 4 massive boxes and took over an hour to build - I was surprised at first how many parts are involved, but then realised that it makes more sense to get all of that movie-universe detailing than it would with a single piece (or small number pieces) moulded item.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAzzCBZwpRo
Watching the construction video made me interested in having something massive like that, as a one-off premium visual figure for visitors, but OMG the cost... it would be close to my annual toy budget, so I'd have to sacrifice buying toys for a year just to justify getting it.

After the recent announcement of cancellations, Prime1 Studios have also made announcements of upcoming proposed projects (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/04/24/prime-1-studio-next-level-showcase-4-beast-wars-transmetal-2-megatron-transformers-2007-megatron-and-dotm-sideswipe-dreads-statues-454620) (subject to pre-order demand).
The new items include mv1 Megatron, mv3 Sideswipe, Busts of the Dreads Crankcase and Crowbar, and their feature item - Beast Wars Dragon (Transmetal 2) Megatron.
The Dragon Megatron looks to be the large size scale (about 60cm tall) and is very stylised... and has Megatron crushing Transmetal Tarantulas on the base.

Statue collector here, I think the main issue with the pieces cancelled are more because they are direct replicas of the figures and aren't better than the ones that have come before. The fact that the show was terrible couldn't have helped either.
Might be worth mentioning this one from Diamond Distributions due out in September:

Two years in the making and this Sixshot statue (crushing Ultra Magnus) by Azure Studios, is still just in the prototype stage (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/07/12/azure-sea-studio-g1-sixshot-statue-color-prototype-460571)... so is still some way off from release.
This one will be 85cm tall, and based on previous big statues with this much detail, this will be very expensive... but is nice to look at.

It's up on BBTS (https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/212225) now... expensive is being generous, $3k USD. As someone who's happily bought some pretty expensive statues in the past, these Azure statues are out of my budget... at least unless they give us a Brainstorm (they seem to be basing a lot of their character choices from the IDW comics).

Grimlock has sown up on BBTS (https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/228776) at a very affordable $124.99 USD compared to Diamond Selects previous release of Galvatron at $449.99.
It does mean that he's PVC compared to Resin, however it's not a bad compromise and puts it in line with the G.I.Joe statue releases.

The risk here is if Iron Studios ever gets the Transformers license, their scale, price point and design aesthetics will be going up against these. They do great work and if you were collecting a set, they'd be the ones to go for.

Wow, that looks pretty good. Definitely reminds me of PCS Optimus Prime which is a good thing because I wish PCS had continued that line.
Understand what you mean about having an Optimus Prime collection. That's why I'll be giving this one a miss. But it'll be interesting to see what comes next.

Sugo has Rodimus and Galvatron (let’s face it - you buy one you need the other) for only $3395.95 and a one thousand dollar deposit.

I would SERIOUSLY consider this for Arcee, but that’s a huge amount of money to lay down if a business ever folded. Does anyone have any experience with Sugo?

So it would seem not many people are willing to vouch for Sugo Toys. They are the official Australian importer for XM Studios though so surely they must be fairly reputable.
