A really nice figure and the fact that he needs to combine doesn't compromise the figure in any way. Scrapmetal is also one of the biggest Deluxes in the line which is always a plus.

I certainly reflect the comments already made. It's a great solid figure all round. I was interested in the comfier aspect of him as all i wanted was a representation of the character. I then transformed him into his "claw mode." He only forms part of the hand (the other part being formed by Hightower) Suddenly i have a very strong urge to collect the rest of the constructions. This devastator is going to be a monster.

Scrapmetal really surprised me. I got him along with SS Shatter and SS Dropkick on the weekend and he was the one I was least looking forward to, yet ended up impressing me the most.
I know I'm not saying anything new here, but he feels solid, has a fun intuitive transformation and looks good in both modes. He technically is a partsformer, but that panel that goes on top of his vehicle mode isn't really necessary IMO. If you lost that panel or just chucked it in your parts bin, it wouldn't hurt the figure to not be there. Most importantly, Scrapmetal really feels like a Transformer as opposed to a shellformer, which has been all too common in Studio Series (yes I understand it is necessary for screen accuracy).
Definitely recommend picking him up even if you never intend on completing Devy, he is an excellent figure in his own right.

Surely that is a modified Combiner Wars Scavenger? Those hip ball joints look very familiar.

Entirely different parts and transformation to Combiner Wars Scavenger.

Only their motherboard can tell them apart. :p

I will echo everyone in here - this is a bloody fun figure.

This has been the only letdown of the Studio Series line to me.

Fortunately it seems confined to the Deluxe price point figures that turn into cars (save and except Stinger, who has a fun and unique transformation).

This guy really looks good especially in person, but i'm just wondering if all of the Scrap Metals' boxes are double taped? The other guys on this wave I found in Kmart were just single taped.

I only got this guy because I want to make Devastator, but he's surprisingly fun to mess with in his own right. I just wish he had a gun, or even just a flip-out barrel or muzzle on one arm, although he does have a 5mm port on his left forearm.

Mine was double-taped.

I noticed that the side of the box for Scrapmetal has a Devastator head instead of an Autobot symbol (even the Decepticon toys have an Autobot symbol, which annoys me for being a wasted opportunity)... so maybe this is a way for non-fans to know that this is part of a special team (not that the boxes needed it if the Decepticons had Autobot symbols on theirs, and people buying these would already know they are part of Devastator).

When the last Constructicon is released, I think transforming the team all at once from either mode and then combining them, will be a big project.

Thanks for the review.

I’m in just to flesh out the Decepticon ranks.

For a movie 'bot that Hasbro had to pretty design from scratch this is a really nice figure.

I like how his chicken leg configuration makes him a short little 'bot.

Also love the silver "spine" details on the back, as well as the search lights on the shoulder which he used in the underwater "ze little one" sequence (although after going back to look at that particular scene again it's debatable if that was meant to be Scrapmetal..)

This is my first SS Constructicon but from the looks of things all of them have turned out to be excellent so far. Really hope this high standard is consistent across the board with the Constructicons so we can enjoy the individual 'bots more before the big event.

I think this lack of a decisive screen model has allowed the designers a greater degree of creative liberty which has worked in the toy's favour. Trying to achieve screen likeness is often something that impedes a toy's design. Even the best made screen-like toys tend to be good in spite of screen-likeness rather than because of it. IMHO toys tend to be better when screen-likeness is a lower priority (if a factor at all), and Scrapmetal is an example of this. Similarly Cogman. Contrast this with Shatter; I'm not saying that screen-likeness is the source of this toy's problems, but it sure ain't^isn't helping.

Maybe this belongs in the "things you never realised" thread, but I recently found out that Scrapmetal is not a unique, all-new design. He is based on concept art by Paul Ozzimo, (https://news.tfw2005.com/2009/08/22/revenge-of-the-fallen-secondary-illustrator-paul-ozzimo-website-update-168385) one of the concept artists who worked on the movies.

The name was Hasbro's nickname for 'ze little one'. (http://www.tfviews.com/news/main/hasbro-q-and-a/641)

This is correct.

There are very few solely completely toy only movieverse characters.

Figures of characters that never appeared on screen usually have their origin in early concept art for the films too. Eg TF07 Incinerator, HFTD Tomahawk and a bunch of others.
