Nice bit of price gouging by EB/Zing there
Deluxes were $60, then $68 & now $78. These muppets on drugs or just getting greedy now? For the total cost of this thing, I'd much rather buy the TFC Poseidon.

I actually suspect it's more to do with the "trade war" which pushes down currencies like ours. Nonetheless, it's a lot. I've ordered; but am happy there's no more to come. It's an expensive exercise!

I want to support Zing/EB but these are almost the same price as the initial voyager and deluxe. They had such a fantastic price for Unicron so to see this is kinda disappointing but oh well.

Nah the currency hasn't moved that much, it's just blatant profiteering. Will order the last batch offshore just like the 2nd. Supported them on the 1st wave but that was because their price was reasonable compared to offshore sources.

Wasn't there some sorta tax price hike going on in Japan?
Regardless I noticed a few figures going up in price at zing compared to other stores, never thought I'd see the day when Melbourne store minotaur was CHEAPER than zing on things, but here we are, I'll just these and then that's it

This is very disappointing, and makes it impossible to choose this local option now.
EB Games was price-gouging us with the second set, as they got them at the same price as the first Deluxe... so I really want to find out who is responsible for this new massive spike.
I really hope that this isn't EB Games taking the attitude that us Transformers fans are willing to pay any price for our toys (after many of us spending up big on Unicron), and are just bumping up the price on each new item. Just like with other retailers, if we stop buying Transformers from them because they made it too expensive, they will just stop ordering them... they won't reduce the price to win us back.

ME: Sooooo, EB, Zing...we really need to talk about the price gouging you've got going in with the final Transformers Piranacon releases??? The first release was $60, the second $68 and the final $78...!!! You guys were heading towards being a good go-to for Transformer exclusives but this sort of bullshit has me and others looking for other options. Don't expect the same pre-sales on these as you had on the first two.
EB GAMES: Hey Jade, thanks for reaching out to us today with your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you're unhappy with the cost of Overbite and Tentakill. Prices are set at RRP by the local vendor and is not something we are able to directly control.
We have noted your feedback and will forward this on to our Buying Team when they're back in office during business hours next week so they're aware of this. If you would like to forward us any further feedback or questions we are always happy to assist where we can. - Mac

I think they may be trying to say: Hasbro saw how you guys jumped on the first lot so decided to jack the price up to make more out of the fans. We got them for 4 out of the 6, may as well shaft them as much as we can on the last 2.

It was good while it lasted to buy exclusives locally. But push up the prices and you push away customers. If this current trend continues, guess I'll just source from cheaper online alternatives. 156 for 2 deluxe figures is just price gouging.

Which is exactly what I've done. I found them for 124 for the set shipped so I bought it online. Local be damned.

I just don't feel comfortable spreading this as news on facebook and twitter because it would look like I'm endorsing the price gouging.
Considering Asian sources haven't bumped up their prices like this and I'm likely to get this 3rd set from somewhere like ohmyprimus, it would also be a bit hypocritical for me to encourage others to spend an extra $30 from the local source.
Maybe it would also be a good test of how many sales we generate for EB Games by not promoting this one and see what numbers they get.

Well that excuse is gone since Trump backed down from sticking all these draconian trade sanctions on China that he had bragged he was gonna do.

At least they responded and responded politely, despite their answer being complete bollocks.

Would EB/Zing be getting them through Hasbro Aus or straight from TakTom in Japan? Either way, it's total gouging and yeah, relying that people who bought the first four would of course buy the last two
Like many of you, I'll be looking further afield. I had trouble stomaching $60 for a deluxe and was embarrassed that I then went and paid $68 each for the second set. No way could I respect myself paying over $150 for two deluxes :(

I had preordered the first 4 through Zing, even with the price increase of wave 2, but now I'm just going to cancel all my preorders and get them elsewhere.
It's cheaper to just import them all or even buy them from other Aussie online stores, and I'd rather have extra money in my pocket especially if EB/Zing are going to make bs excuses.
So well done EB/Zing, doing this has not only cost you sales of the last two but also of the first four.

I'm surprised at Zing, considering that Wave 3 is actually cheaper on OMP than Wave 2.

That's really sad... bloody greed.
Just like scalpers.
You try to support local businesses and rather than sustain the relationship, they go for short term profits.
Not cool!

Indeed....
EB Games wave 2 is AU$136
EB Games wave 3 is AU$156
OMP wave 2 is AU$115 (https://ohmyprimus.com/ttgsscw2.html) (plus shipping)
OMP wave 3 is AU$95 (https://ohmyprimus.com/ttgsscw3.html) (plus shipping)
EB Games went up by $20 for the pair, while OMP went down by $20.
EB Games ends up being $156 for the 3rd pair, while OMP will be about $120 shipped.
Very disappointing.

EB Games was price-gouging us with the second set, as they got them at the same price as the first Deluxe... so I really want to find out who is responsible for this new massive spike.
I need to retract this as I found out today that the Australian RRP for the Deluxe Seacons was meant to be $70 but a mixup of numbers somewhere with the first set meant that Gulf/Skalor was under-priced. I'm not going to ask who was the cause of the mixup, but it may be the case (my speculation only) that the third set were adjusted to make back the money they lost on the first Seacons.
It still doesn't make me want to encourage other fans to spend $156 for a pair of toys that can be bought elsewhere for about $120 shipped.
It also doesn't justify EB Games to blindly charge RRP if they are only ordering what they need, which means no risk to them... and we are doing all the work advertising these toys for them, making these toys even more profitable for EB Games.

Either way, it doesn't really matter, the price is insane for a pair of deluxes, even the price I've paid through Oh My Primus is nuts. but less nuts that supporting local on this.
I really am impressed with their pricing and payment structure for Unicron. I hope it ends up being representative of future items they list.

If they're overcharging $20 for two deluxes in wave 3 to make up for undercharging $10 for one deluxe in the first wave then that's still what we could call price-gauging.
Not that it affects me, but those who did buy off EB/Zing have every right to be annoyed.

Even if the Voyager was also under-priced by $10, it doesn't make it right to over-price on a later two items to make up for it... they just have to wear the "loss" if it was their error, or get a discount from Hasbro if it was their error.
Besides, my thinking is that EB Games shouldn't be charging anywhere near RRP on these anyway, because they aren't spending any money on advertising (the fansites are doing it for them, for free), and they aren't buying the stock at a risk of if it will all sell (they only order what they already pre-sold, and maybe have to sell off a couple of cancelled orders, which don't take long).
So why do they need the full wholesale-to-retail profit margin... when we are have been a cash-cow for them lately.
It's like free money for them, only having to spend a negligible amount of money on a product page that they whip up in a matter of minutes (they often lazily paste in a google-translated text from the TakaraTomyMall listings)... and shipping them to stores when they arrive (with their rest of their truck load of stock, which would make it less than a dollar per item). Labour costs would also be negligible per unit, at their warehouse and at the store, for the few seconds spent handling each item at both locations.

The thing that I would really be interested in, is how their sales numbers are doing so far with the 3rd set, since we haven't been promoting it on our various sites.
From Electron onwards, we've really been pushing the EB Games exclusives, and the feedback is that those more recent items that we have been promoting heavily on here and on facebook, have had significant increases in sales, compared to the four items before Electron (I didn't get to promote them much because we were having board issues, so they were disappearing before I had the time to look into them and advertise them, and it was before I was made aware that EB Games were only able to pre-sell these Japanese Transformers for a couple weeks before a deadline set by Hasbro).

Thanks for those links. I've never shopped with OMP before but considering the big price difference I've created an account and preordered.
I'm disappointed with the prices of the latest Seacons at Zing/EB, however after Unicron and Ectotron they are still in my good books. I hope they return to providing these hard to obtain figures at fantastic prices

I first used OMP coz I missed everywhere else on the reissue dino cassettes, and they had them for a decent price. I've since used them a few times and nothing but good experiences so far.
I do believe that if EB/Zing had not had their apparent stuff up with the price of the first set and had them at 70 a piece, whilst a hard pill to swallow, most would still have gone with them. So when we we got the first set we saw a good deal, and this set being trying to recoup their losses sucks to the consumer. Even if this set was the 68 of the 2 set, I would have still gone with them. Long winded response I know, but I really do think it comes down to the perception. Had the price been spread evenly over the 5 deluxes, would have looked good enough for us as the consumer. But a jump of 18 bucks from the first set to the last, looks like just a money grabbing exercise to the consumer. Wish there was a way they could see my words.

Since I wasn't entirely sure I'd get my Seacons from TBI, I started looking online to see if I could get from another source. Unfortunately there wasn't much BUT I did find a site from Singapore called La Tendo that has Overbite and Tentakil for 44 SGD each. Postage on the site was 70 for both but emailing them, they quoted me 48, presumably in SGD.
Quick Google shows that they have a good reputation, at least locally. I can't guarantee anything but potentially worth checking out if you're still on the hunt for them.
