Transformers: Earth Wars game to end?

Sadly, it appears Hasbro has decided to shut down Backflip Studios, the game developer of the Transformers: Earth Wars mobile platform game (amongst others).

What this means for the immediate future of the game is not clear, but long term, it is unlikely that there will be any further updates or upgrades to the game, likely subjecting it to eventual obsolescence.

They just released an update to add G.I. Joe and Cobra which broke for everyone with a certain chipset. These people were told they would have to get a different device to keep playing.

Regarding the Backflip closure, Space Ape has released a statement saying "we wanted to assure you and the fans that day to day operations of Transformers: Earth Wars won't be affected. The game has been operated entirely by Space Ape for many years so the changes won't have any impact on the game or its players. The GI Joe release will go ahead as planned and players will be able to enjoy the game for years to come".

I haven't heard anything about the update breaking the game though.
