Toy Fair is starting up, and Hasbro has shown off Earthrise Deluxe Arcee, Deluxe Fasttrack, Commander Skylinx and Titan Scorponok. Personally I'll probably stick with my LG10 Arcee. But the rest are all must-buys.

(https://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/transformers-earthrise-deluxe-arcee-fasttrack-commander-sky-lynx-titan-scorponok-revealed/44524/)Details from the IGN website, which Hasbro used to reveal these new Generations toys...
(it is therefore possible that some minor details might be incorrect)
July 1st release
WFC-E24 - Commander Class Sky Lynx - Space shuttle & transport / bird & lynx / bird-lynx "fuzor" / battlestation
August 1st release
WFC-E25 - Titan Class Scorponok w/ Titanmaster Lord Zarak & smaller Titanmaster head (could actually be Lord Zarak and the larger one has a new name) - Scorpion / robot / battlestation
WFC-E17 - Deluxe Class Autobot Arcee - Cybertronian sports car / robot
October 1st release
WFC-E35 - Deluxe Class Decepticon Fasttrack - Cybertronian "tank" / robot / Titan staff (can transform into a hand-held weapon for Scorponok, unlike previous 3 City-former partners (Sixgun, Cog, Brunt) which separated into several weapons)

The purist in me is cringing a little bit at the rear half shell of Arcee's altmode, but she looks fantastic so I dare say I'll get over it.
I was kind of relieved to look them up and find that Skylynx isn't an 84 or 85 release, so I don't have to get them - they look great and I'd probably talk myself into it otherwise. Except the comedy chicken legs on the bird mode, although I feel like they could be posed a lot better than they are in that photo. And the obvious robot legs sticking up from the base mode like it's having the best Saturday night.

Skylynx is perfection.
Definitely grabbing Earthrise Arcee instead of the MP. Both are shellformers, but at least ER is a good $150-$200 cheaper and gives you something to do with some of the kibble. Also has a proper chest.

That's not a hoverboard at all.

That Arcee is a joke. Looks nothing like a surfboard, they didnt even try to hide it! Even my 5yo asked me why Arcee was standing on the top bit of her car mode. If they cant fool a little girl, well...
The Scorponok and Sky Lynx look great, but I feel like Hasbro is testing the waters here to see how much lazy design they can get away with, and Im not going to support that with my money.

I'm sure you can clip it onto her back if it bothers you that much, just like with Cliffjumper. Personally I'm okay with this, as Arcee isn't an easy design to do (especially at the deluxe level) without either having a massive backpack or making her inaccurate to the animation model. Pick your poison.

I'm okay with it being like a Cliffjumper situation. However it is laughable to say that is a hoverboard, it's just the mid section of a car without anything else.

Well, Cybertronian civilisation's been around longer than ours - technically the problem is our open topped sports cars look like hoverboards with extra bits on the front.

Isn't that what hoverboards are supposed to look like? :p

Scorponok... I will buy. Arcee? Yeah no. Sky Lynx? Probably not. Fast Track? Maybe.
To be honest... I'm just waiting for Hubcap since BBTS shipped my Cliffjumpers today (:

Bet you're going to see it at retail before the mailman delivers ;p
I will probably buy Arcee as a completist, but I'm very happy with my 30th anniversary one and Titans Return Arcee. Both are really fun toys to transform, and accomplished it without shellforming. I'm more curious about what the Cyberverse Wave 2 Arcee looks like to be honest. This time tomorrow I'll probably know.
Likewise I was VERY happy with Combiner Wars Sky Lynx. But the base mode is something new and original we've never had before in a Sky Lynx, and might work well with Omega Spreem too. I'm hoping they show the two sets side-by-side at Toy Fair

Sky Lynx is so amazing, my CW one is going to the IDW reject shelf I guess. Couldn’t be happier with all the modes, plus the Nasa and Magnificence details on the shuttle. I’m glad they decided to do something with the big blue block from the lynx and make a launch bay/base.
Arcee’s robot form looks pretty nice, but the “hoverboard” is just plain unacceptable at this point. I know Arcee is virtually impossible to pull off with both modes together, but they didn’t even try. I’ll be sticking to my Legends deluxe, which did a pretty decent job.
While I think Scorponok is super cool, he’s a pass for me. I’ve skipped Headmasters-onwards characters up to now and didn’t get Fort Max, so he would be out of place alone.

Definately keen for Sky-Lynx. Will have to see reviews first for Arcee. Scorponok not overly bothered.

I'm sure it'll turn up at the independents like Toyworld & Mr Toys before my parcel turns up. Of course, Sydney has few Toyworlds and none in my part of town... so I probably wont see him before the parcel comes. It's all Myer, K-Mart etc. And Fraser's Cycles who order new Transformers once a year...
Either way, I don't mind. If for whatever reason we don't get wave 1, I'm good. If we do, I'll probably grab myself a Wheeljack whom I wasn't keen enough on to pre-order (I did also pre-order Hoist).

More actual non-retailer leak reveals today from Hasbro. Another Ramp Master, some Micromasters that have already been leaked, an Airwave based on the Airport playset the G1 Airwave was packaged with, another Datsun mould and another Megatron.
https://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/generations-earthrise-airwave-megatron-smokescreen-and-more-revealed-ahead-of-toy-fair-2020/44529/
Directly revealed by Hasbro, Computer Renders of Earthrise....
Battlemaster - WFC-E39 - Decepticon Doublecrosser (another ramp alt-mode - a 2-headed bot like the Gen1 Autobot Doublecross) - October 1st
Micromaster 2-pack - WFC-E16 - Astro Squad (Fuzer (front) & Autobot Blast Master (rear) - space shuttle) - August 1st
(the Gen1 toys had the front bot called Phaser)
Micromaster 2-pack - WFC-E15 - Race Track Patrol (Decepticon Ground Hog (blue) & Roller Force (purple) - race cars) - August 1st
(the rendering colours could be off, as the car modes are the same as their Gen1 versions, but Gen1 Ground Hog was purple, and Roller Force was hot pink)
Deluxe - WFC-E20 - Smokescreen - August 1st
Deluxe - WFC-E18 - Airwave Modulator (a Decepticon, homaging the Gen1 Micromaster base that came with Airwave - same colours, just a lot brighter) - August 1st
Voyager - WFC-E38 - Megatron (tank, with a sword that homages the original Japanese Gen1 Megatron sword, but looks like it plugs into something else) - October 1st

Was there no preview dinner/breakfast this year?
Usually we have the chosen few American website owners invited to the NY Toyfair to join the Hasbro people at a pre-Toyfair event that shows off some of the items that will be on display inside the Fair... but I haven't seen anything yet.
The event starts today (it's currently 2am in New York), and they have already had the investor presentation (which you can see here (https://news.tfw2005.com/2020/02/21/tfw2005-coverage-of-hasbro-toy-fair-2020-investor-preview-event-405631) - it doesn't reveal anything new for Transformers, as it talks more about the future of the Hasbro Corporation, and what Brands and performance to expect from them in the next 12 months).
So far all I can find is one person tweeting out a heap of photos of different exhibits (https://twitter.com/dadarocks) (eight photos so far of the Transformer display - here for Generations/Studio Series (https://twitter.com/dadarocks/status/1230898796982423554) and here for Cyberverse (https://twitter.com/dadarocks/status/1231016255307599873)), from 14 hours ago, up to 5 hours ago (keeping in mind what time it is now in New York).

Maybe people's paranoia about the coronavirus has put off Hasbro from doing some of its normal events?
Next weekend is PAX East in Boston. People are pulling out of that sighting the coronavirus despite no real threat to America.

Still going through the Investor presentation (https://news.tfw2005.com/2020/02/21/tfw2005-coverage-of-hasbro-toy-fair-2020-investor-preview-event-405631)...
The Netflix WFC cartoon will start showing in June (which I'm guessing would be accessible here as well if we get the same Netflix content here).
They were shown a trailer for the new cartoon, but it was not made public yet, so nothing was noted of its contents.
A new games console game was announced (it's been several years since the last one), called Doom of Cybertron, that may be part of Cyberverse. It will be released on the Nintendo Switch gaming console.
A Virtual Reality game was also announced as being in production, but no name or details were given.
Something I found interesting is that over the last ten years, Hasbro has sent over US$4 Billion of its profits to shareholders as dividends and buybacks (https://news.tfw2005.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/2020/02/TFW2005-Hasbro-Toy-Fair-2020-162.jpg). What a waste. They could have been investing it into their products (to make better quality toys), or keeping it as part of their warchest to buy up assets or brands, or even buy out rivals to make them too big of a target for takeover (and to have more assets and cash on hand if a sudden financial speedbump suddenly hit them).
Obviously this being an investor presentation, Hasbro are wanting to make their business sound even more profitable to their share-holders, to make sure that they keep their shares and don't suddenly sell off a large amount, driving down the share price (which would look like the business is losing value, despite nothing actually changing with its sales and profit numbers). It is also meant to appeal to potential investors, so that they fight over the shrinking number of shares to drive up their price (for the benefit of people like the boss of Hasbro who would have a lot of shares given to him as part of his salary).
One thing I found surprising was this slide (https://news.tfw2005.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/2020/02/TFW2005-Hasbro-Toy-Fair-2020-154.jpg), that admits how much Hasbro America makes on their toys when they sell them to retailers - 61.7%.
That means that the total cost of producing a toy and having it in their American warehouse to ship off to a retailer is just 38.3% of the wholesale price... the other 61.7% is profit that pays their American staff (including designers), American office expenses (including the buildings), product development, marketing, taxes, shareholder payments and warchest profits.
So if a retailer was to buy a (large) item for $100 (which they would then sell for about $150 at the usual markup rate of RRPs), that $150 retail toy only cost Hasbro a total of $38.30 to manufacture it and have it arrive at their warehouse from Asia. Just take a look at the percentage cost of "Resins" which is the plastics in the toys, just 5.1% of the wholesale cost of a toy (on average), which is less than the cost of the packaging and instructions (6.8%).
Obviously, toys sold outside of America have different cost, like no product development and limited additional marketing, offsetting the commission that get paid back to America for selling their products in other countries.

It has been a huge news day today for Transformers, and NY Toyfair doesn't officially start for another few hours...
I've been sitting at my computer for most of the day today with the new reveals, and I expect that tomorrow will be even more busy, with the Hasbro presentation, the toy displays, and the official product press-releases with new images.
On the downside - this year the Melbourne Toyfair is only a couple of days after the New York Toyfair (usually it is 2-3 weeks later), so don't expect to see too much unreleased stuff next weekend, as there won't be enough time for Hasbro in America to pull down their New York exhibit on Wednesday the 26th and send unreleased pre-production samples to Melbourne before Hasbro Australia put together their exhibit on Saturday the 29th. As such, I expect to see a display of current products that are either in stores, or soon will be as they are at the Hasbro warehouse in Sydney. :(
And no... there is no exclusive product reveal this year either for us Australians. :( :(

Okay... there was a Botbots display, but it hasn't yet appeared on the major sites yet (probably still processing the photos of the "priority" toys).
With the recent release of Series 5 in America and the official images of the Series 6 6-packs, there doesn't appear to be anything new on display.
And one of the photos has a couple of Rescue Bots on the edge of it, so there was a Rescue Bots display as well... so I'll keep an eye out for a fansite to post up photos, eventually (if at all).

Th more and more I look at Earthrise & some Siege figures, I think they're scaled down MP figures. CHUG hasn't looked this good in a long time
The larger Generations toys are nicely detailed and designed... and aside from Devastator, I'm not feeling as excited by recent Studio Series figures. It's almost like they've started giving up on making them look screen accurate. Look at Soundwave - the satellite mode is basically the robot mode bent backwards (the original TF2 toy looked better). And Blitzwing has the same problem at the back of the jet like the regular Bumblebee Movie toy had, with the feet kibble sticking out behind the wings.
Are the dates on Amazon accurate for the Earthrise figures announced at Toy Fair? September, October and November is when Amazon is expecting them to come in. Seems like a long time between wave 1 which is releasing now and the next wave.
https://www.amazon.com/s?k=earthrise&i=toys-and-games&crid=2GUQYEPIZBQZG&sprefix=earthrise%2Caps%2C336&ref=nb_sb_ss_c_2_9
The release dates on the Hasbro Pulse website don't seem to match up with most of the dates in the official press release dates at the beginning of this news posting... so they could show up at any time within a 3-4 month period.

For the Cyberverse official (rendered) images, check the link a few posts up, as there isn't anything too surprising or new... and most are the same repeat characters, so I don't want to spend half an hour processing and uploading the images.
Officer Class - Optimus Prime, Bumblebee
Trooper Class - Bumblebee, Wildwheel, Meteorfire, Starscream, Megatron
Warrior - Bumblebee, Megatron, Optimus Prime, Hammerbyte
Deluxe - Thunderhowl, Arcee, Hot Rod, Grimlock
These are the Generations Netflix cartoon Walmart exclusives official images (the display photos are better to look at, as the rendered images don't show the black scarring too well).

BWTF have posted up their gallery of the Cyberverse display (http://bwtf.com/events/toyfair2020-cyberverse-display).
Most of these Cyberverse toys look really bad, particularly the alt-modes. Meteorfire and Hammerbyte look ridiculous, and the ones that have better looking alt-modes, have kibble and gimmick parts ruining their bot mode.
And just how many versions of the same Bumblebee, Megatron, Optimus and Grimlock do we really need. Over half of the first two years of Autobot toys were Bumblebee, Optimus and Grimlock toys, and it's looking like year three will be the same.

Thoughts so far on figures of note:
1. Quintesson- my favourite of the lot, nailed it 100% with the screen look and faces, I'll probably get 3.
2. Scorponok- pretty cool, but will be passing as I skipped Fort Max and the other '87 bots.
3. Runamuck- looks nice and clean, I wish they'd have put some orange highlights on there, think I saw a TFW digibash with orange waist and collar/neck area that was so much better.
4. Alicon- very slick robot mode that looks even better in the actual IRL toy they displayed, alt-mode is passable but could be better. I will definitely get at least one, maybe a second.
5. Arcee- While the robot mode looks nice, the kibble and hoverboard situation is just plain unacceptable. I'll be staying with my Takara Legends Arcee.
6. Smokescreen- He looks great, but I am infinitely peeved about releasing this after just giving us three very GEEWUN Datsun bros, albeit with Cybertronian (barely) alt modes. I will probably get him, but only because I hadn't actually got Selects Smokescreen yet.
7. Sky Lynx- one of the best looking figures revealed in the newer CHUG lines, so much interactivity and cool features. Super excited.
I hate to sound super sour, but I'm really disappointed in Hasbro about the whole "now retool all the Siege figures into Earth modes and sell them again" thing. It's really obviously money-grubbing, which is a shame given so much recent dedication to meeting fan expectations that otherwise comes through in the other figures. Having options is great and the Siege toys themselves are cool, but they knew what they were doing when they gave us irresistable cartoon robot modes, which most probably didn't expect to see sold back to them a year later with slightly better alt modes that only just warrant a repurchase. Now there's a bunch of people feeling stupid for having what was only last year pretty definitive versions of characters. Seekers are a little more forgivable, given that their Siege figures had specific purpose in existing due to the tetrajet alt mode, so I'm mostly fine with them.
I expect nearly all the other Siege bots done so far will get new Earth mode figures:
- Sideswipe
- Red Alert
- Hound
- Prowl
- Bluestreak
- Ironhide (lacking good representation before Siege)
- Ratchet (lacking good representation before Siege)
Pretty disappointing at the least and aggravating at the worst. Hard to say how fans will respond with their wallets, but something's telling me we're gonna give in and buy the new versions anyway. Also pretty cheap of them is throwing blue Frumble into a four pack exclusive with a bunch of obscure decos, when he didn't need to be. Pretty low, Enemy would have fared much better, and Frumble should have been in a two pack with the now absent Buzzsaw.

Really excited overall with what was revealed over the weekend. Have placed the following preorders:
- Micromaster Spy Patrol (splitting the set with a friend who wants the Powermasters)
- Earthrise Quintesson Judge
- Earthrise Arcee
- Earthrise Allicon
- Earthrise Skylynx
- Studio Series Scrapper
- Studio Series Overload
- Studio Series Skipjack
- Studio Series Blitzwing
- Studio Series Cliffjumper
I'm not too fussed on Megatron and Snapdragon but if I see them locally I'll get them. Didn't see preorders for Doublecrosser or the Astro Squad but I'll definitely be securing those as soon as I can.

I find incredibly annoying the the 'obscure decos' (which I really want) are characters associated as a part of another character and are pulse exclusive....

I think it makes sense for them to be not mainline releases, moreso Hasbro have to make sure that those exclusives have an avenue to reach fans not in the US.

It's a Netflix original so you'll need a Netflix subscription to stream it.
It's piqued my interest. Looks to have far better production quality than their recent low budget efforts.

According to TFwiki the names of the Target Masters with Netflix Hotlink are Heatstroke and Heartburn, so new characters. And the Target Masters with Netflix Megatron are Captive Lionizer and Captive Pinpointer.
I guess that means I can skip them and Scrapface since they are not G1 characters, but I probably won't.

Some more licensed product displays posted up on TFW2005...
Jada - nano Hollywood Rides (https://news.tfw2005.com/2020/02/24/jada-toys-transformers-nano-hollywood-rides-images-from-toy-fair-2020-406920) - the people who did that Gen1 Optimus truck we've been seeing in BigW in recent months, are doing 4cm diecaste micro-sized vehicles.
Four packs noted, with two of them being shown on display - two movie packs and two Gen1 packs.
Just note that there are place-holder images being used in one of the photos, as there is no way they would be able to do a Gen1 toy version Jetfire, as Hasbro doesn't own the rights to that... Harmony Gold does. If Hasbro makes them produce the Robotech version of Jetfire, expect a very swift and expensive lawsuit, and it won't be against Hasbro, which would be underhanded of Hasbro if that happens.

Jada Nanorides look really cool, but I don't know if they'll be released here. Have any other Jada products been released locally? I really think they're quite cute in that size.
Consnspicuous absence from Flame Toys was the Windblade figure, which people went cray-cray over (or against) in the tfw2005 forums. Almost as strong as the reaction to Nicee from a 3rd party.

I think the only thing we got here from Jada was the Gen1 Optimus truck at BigW last year and Kmart this year, and the remote control Bumblebee at Kmart.

I wonder why TakaraTomy made their Allicon so pink. It doesn't look right to me. The colours in the movie were grey-purple (https://tfwiki.net/wiki/File:Killing_Jar_Allicon_beastmode.jpg), which is closer to the Hasbro grey.
As for the judge, the heads look brighter than the Hasbro version (below - but it is a CG image, so the colours could be off), while the energy beam at the bottom is a different colour.

I agree, Griffin. The pink is an odd move on the Allicon for sure and I have no idea what it's referencing either. The Quintesson does look slightly better than Hasbro, but neither are making me feel I need to spend extra for Takara versions. Gonna stick with my current preorders.

And just when I thought that the Rescue Bots display at Melbourne was small, the display at New York was also small (http://bwtf.com/events/toyfair2020/rescuebotsacademy)... so small that Seibertron and TFW didn't cover it, and BWTF didn't even have it on the main news page.
Items on display at New York...
Rescan bots - Optimus, Bumblebee, Hotshot (none are new)
Mini Racers - Whirl, Bumblebee, Hoist (these are new)
Electronic - Hotshot (this has not been seen before - looks Megabot sized, similar to Heatwave but different engineering)
Mega Mighties - Optimus, Bumblebee (none are new)
Command Centre Trailers - Hoist, Wedge (none are new)
