Hey guys,

What happened to group orders? I remember people use to buy in groups to save on shipping.

Makes sense to buy together and to save.

I've got one going at the moment for a massive print. it's unfortunately been split in to two shipments, one is still in the states and the other has been at Mascot since the 29th of last month. stupid Covid-19

I think group shipments still happen, but with shipping being so cheap from a lot of sources these days it makes less sense than it used to. it tends to only happen with specialty items in the last few years that I've seen.

I think it’s a combination of factors.
My experience is that the difference in price has become less noticeable to do a group order vs ordering yourself.

Also it has become a lot easier to do individual online orders, which was part of the initial drive, and with a lot more local players in the market there’s less issues with distribution. Some of the bigger guys will do order bundling, so that you can effectively create your own group order and save.

I also know that with the launch of Amazon within Australia and my Prime membership, it means means I’m not really looking outside Australian sources for my purchases any more.

I do look overseas for items Ive missed and arent available locally anymore and shipping is expensive so its turns me off getting them.

Why not combine orders with other collectors who live around you? That's what I do. I don't do public group orders, just small private shared orders with friends who live near me.
