This one, I am going for an upgrade kit. It does mean that the parts will be taken off and aiming to create a way to join it up into a trailer.
The chest plate worked out so will become the face piece of the trailer. Next is the arms and legs to work out and the long trailer piece at the bottom.
The face is a long way off and waiting for the putty to set before sanding.
Ears have started.

This looks like one of your toughest customs to date!
Do you do any preliminary sketches of your projects before you start your reverse engineering MP TFs?

I'm guessing Stencilator's work (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/tfw2005-radicons-custom-kitbash-contest/166776-mp-ultra-magnus-repaint.html) has given you some inspiration? :)

Pulse, I like Stencilator's work. I had a more extensive goal.
This (http://marksprojects.com/trailermp2.htm) was the inspiration.

Okay.. here is a little update. Decided to build a new head after seeing some artwork. Took several nights to just build this... :)
Started as this:
http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg67/kelvinchang99/DSC07316.jpghttp://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg67/kelvinchang99/DSC07317.jpg
http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg67/kelvinchang99/DSC07318.jpg
Then turned into this with a comparison and I found a much better colour:

http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg67/kelvinchang99/DSC07322.jpg
And then updated to this with a Nose..

Here is another update. Probably wont have anymore till next weekend.
Okay, this update, painted the chest.. (I know, I cant help myself as this is how I visualise to know if I am on the right track), and am a little impatient. Also, have begun creating the first shoulder. Still gotta sand and add detailing.
Also, added some more detailing on the head.

I think you've got the Shoulder height perfect.
Like the new head, the new nose in particular looks great.

Thanks guys.
Just had the day off work and thought I would do a quick update. Trying to do the second shoulder if I can today but enclosed the chest plate now so that you can't see if was a prime base. :) The chest plate is still removable. Gives it abit more weight.
The shoulders have been cleaned up abit.

Size comparison. Looking at this, once the legs go in, this figure will stand taller than the MP Prime. Here already showing that its taller than my Metalverse Ironhide.

These are brilliant. But can they transform? What are you moulding the face and head from?
kup
3rd December 2008, 01:47 PM
I like how you have gotten that 'rough' non slip pattern thing on the surface of the red chest area which is just like the G1 toy.

jimoinj - thanks for the comment. The head was scratchbuilt not molded. I am workingo on the transformation and almost completed 1 leg. A real challenge but it is different.
Kup - thanks for the comments.
Although it was like doh when I saw today someone posted the fanproject unofficial trailer for MP prime. I waited this long and as soon as I decide to build my own, someone out there completes theirs... :(

Here is a little update.. but took ages. The right leg is about 80% done to visually give you an idea how the back of the trailer would work. Moreover, the back piece will fold back and extended in trailer mode.

The foot folds back in stationary mode.

Continuing on, is the legs for the MP Magnus.
Here are some updates which is getting closer but still a fair way to go.
After the legs are done, its almost ready to assemble into the trailer.

mmmm tasty..... on a side note what do you use to cut the plastic sheets so that there nice clean and straight cuts??
kelvinchang99
7th December 2008, 12:44 AM
Hi loophole,
I use a sharp scalpal, to draw the line first on either sides, then once its thin enough, it just breaks off giving it a nice clean cut.
There is another styrene sheet with also squares on it. So then its a case of scalpal or scissors and a steady hands. But it makes the straight lnes much easier to align.
Here are some updated pics...

Thanks Omega Supreme.. this one was a big job. Never did I try something like this. Can you believe the head alone took almost a week.
The legs is a real challenge too to ensure it can withstand the weight of the MP Prime.
But it is fun and you should get into it. Happy to help if you get stuck on any customs.
