I was hoping Cotton On was going to get Warpath and Gears after they did the other four. They were $15 and went 30% off at times if I remember right, and then cleared at about $7.50 (sold like hot cakes at that time). I got the first four for about $10 each. So $19 is a quite expensive. Buying all 6 would cost a currently priced Sky Lynx!

Kmart Helensvale has them in stock but different assortment : not the Warpath Gears wave, but rather the earlier one

Perhaps Gears and Warpath were sold already?

Don?t think so Sinnertwin as it looked like a full case assortement.

It may well be they have a mixture of Wave 1 and 2 though at Hasbro Au, and that other Kmart stores will get different ones. I?m hoping they sell really well and Kmart reorders, which would give more people a chance at owning them. I am just thrilled to see G1 packaging on shelf, and can?t wait for the other Walmart figures

Trying out some postcodes on the kmart website (at the link in the first post), there are only a handful of stores in a couple of states that have them so far, so I imagine that they are only just being shipped out to stores from today, and should be at all/most by the end of next week.

There is some dispute as to what assortment is at Kmart, as their website shows six toys that includes Gears and Warpath, but the photo of the toys at Helensvale by ReillyD, suggests that it is just the other four without those two.

http://www.toycollectors.com.au/news/2020/061902.jpg

These are WAAAAY over-priced for us here, especially for Kmart. These reissue mini-bots were US$8 in America, so at the most, these should have been AU$15 here (or less, since this is Kmart).
By comparison, Cyberverse Scout toys are also US$8 in America, and are AU$12 at Kmart here, so these reissue toys at Kmart should also have been about AU$12.

I guess with the Netflix Voyagers being about $10 under-priced, we get a bit of a trade-off between the two.

BTW, now that we have some of the reissues showing up at Kmart, it should be okay to mention that we might also be getting the following reissues at Kmart this year (if they haven't cut back during this recession)... but I don't know if they are coming out soon with the Mini-bots, or later in the year.
- Soundwave w/ Buzzsaw (was US$50 in US)
- Optimus Prime (cab) (was US$50 in US)
- Cassette 2-pack Ravage/Rumble (was US$20 in US)
- Cassette 2-pack Frenzy/Laserbeak (was US$20 in US)

From what I've seen of sightings online, the Kmart ones are the bi-lingual packaging (with tech specs on the back) not the multi-lingual packaging ones that Cotton On had.

I have hit a few other Kmarts looking for (in vain) Warpath and Gears. No joy.

I?m hoping though that they sell well, and restock with the later wave. I know that there will be some people who see this as overpriced, but I think there?s real value in having authentic G1 packaging for displaying them, and a tech-spec. I would have been so disappointed if they?d come without them, and am really pleased.

I also understand Unicran?s enthusiasm (though 5 sets seems a lot!). I?m seriously considering buying a set for display so I can open the ones I?ve bought... but eighty dollars is a lot to shell out after Skylynx. Hopefully they?ll still be floating around in a few weeks time.

Can?t wait for the cassettes and Soundwave now.

Yeah, I suspect it was a case of product may vary in regards to what is being made available. Quite a few people were keen on Gears & Warpath. Let's hope they sell well enough to restock

If you don't want to wait for Kmart, OMP also has the Soundwave and Rumble/Ravage pack for $88 SGD. He also has the Frenzy/ Dino 3 pack for $70 SGD plus post.

Usually these sorts of exclusive things are a one-off shipment to the retailers, so the chances are slim that we will see the second series with the new two (unless Hasbro Australia got both waves at the same time).

I saw them today at a Kmart near me, and was surprised to see the VW licensing logo on the back of Bumblebee's card. It's not an accurate representation of a VW beetle, so I don't know why they needed their licensing approval... unless it was part of a larger agreement to get their licensing for the Bumblebee toys that are accurate VW beetles (Masterpiece and BB Movie).

Yes it really would be a dream come true to see the 1984 Autobot cars on the shelf as an assortment, rather than just a single G1 release at a time. We had it with the TRU Commerative line, but not in actual G1 packaging like the original. That packaging just looked so cool at the time.

I?d kind of give up hope when the Encore line of G1 releases ended, but Walmart releasing Hot Rod and Optimus can gave me hope again. I?d much prefer Autobot cars than other releases like Blaster

I agree re Blaster. It's nice to see it's continuing, but as you say, he's his own assortment. Even 5-6 cars would be awesome. The Minibots are great to see, it's just a shame we got the same guys twice.

griffin

Blaster is disappointing, and unless it is really cheap, I don't think it will sell... but it was the winner of the fan-vote on the Hasbro facebook page earlier this year, so we are stuck with it (and if it doesn't sell, it will be more difficult for retailers to want others later).

And this one doesn't appear to come with any cassettes either, as it appears to be an authentic reissue of the original Blaster who didn't come with any cassettes.

I think the packaging will sell it best, to those who want to keep it sealed, or keep the box... as it has been reissued twice by Hasbro in the last 10 years (2010 and 2015), and also reissued in Japan in 2006, so there are a lot of reissue choices already out there.

Just echoing what was just posted on our facebook page - if you are on the fence with the minibots, or know someone who would be interested in getting one as a present, best to get on it as soon as you can. Even though they have only been out for about 2 weeks, and a lot of stores on the Kmart product page are already showing little or no stock, there are concerns that they aren't selling fast enough in this current economic climate to have Kmart risk getting the bigger reissues.
I imagine that decisions are being made at this time (or soon) by the Kmart product buyers, as to if they will take on more reissues (based on the sales of the Minibots so far).

Personally, I think they've done really well so far, based on sightings by me and others in the last week... and I don't want to have a special retro toyline like this be so limited that they are here one month and gone the next, as it may not give people enough time to budget for them (that's almost $80 for the set, which is a big hit in one week for a lot of people at this time, or any time). And I'd prefer to see a range of vintage reissues at the store, not Minibots one month, Cassettes the next month, Optimus the month after, Soundwave after that. Unfortunately the turnover requirement of product at major retailers is very short, and they don't care about how the shelves look to the eye, they just care that the shelves don't look the same in a couple months time, so that it encourages people to come back often to see what is new. (after all, they think that if you can't afford new items as soon as they show up, put it on credit or a pay-later scheme, as it is not their job to keep items sitting around for months until you can afford it)

That would be a wonderful sight to behold, but my dream is for a shelf full of vintage packaged reissues of 1987/88 deluxes. What hefty sturdy plastic figures they were.

Just wondering whether anyone had sighted the G1 Warpath or G1 Gears (he?s the blue/red one, not the red/white)?
You can see stock availability for local Kmart stores, and some of them that were low stock have now been refreshed. So kinda hoping that it might be with second wave stock.

While I know that $19 may seem a lot, given that resellers are charging north of $50 for Warpath and then there?s shipping, if I can source him local I could justify the Kmart premium. But if there?s no chance of it showing up I might have to bite the bullet and eBay one.

Skyfire
7th July 2020, 04:26 PM
I've not seen a single G1 at 3 Kmarts in Perth despite the website saying available. BigW is the same - these stock level reports are quite unreliable. Good thing I got the first 4 at Cotton On (for half the price) but I'd still like to see the tech specs in real life. I guess that Warpath and Gears are not in the same case as the other 4, just like Cotton On. And just like Cotton On, maybe they won't come around. I did ask Cotton On to get in more G1 toys when they asked for my feedback and they haven't yet. So who knows what Kmart will do, probably the same.

My local Kmart appears to have never gotten Gears and Warpath. The rest of them are just sitting there unsold. It should be noted that my local Kmart doesn't exactly do great business with Transformers toys. They tend to get Wave 1 of a series and never sell out of it until it goes on clearance.

Isn?t it just amazing to see on shelves? Even for those who can afford to import them from online sellers, or even Walmart, that experience of seeing them on shelves is just magical. Brings back such warm feelings of nostalgia for retro toys. I really hope that Kmart commits to releasing the remaining ones so we see some G1 boxes on shelves again. I?d take anything, but if they were to release a few (e.g. Hot Rod, Optimus, Starscream, Soundwave ) so there was a whole assortment, it would be wondeful
