A TF X BTTF Collab has been teased on the official Transformers Instagram and Facebook pages. It seems almost certain we'll get a transforming DeLorean, as it takes a prominent spot in the logo.

Celebrating 35 years of BTTF, it looks to be released later this year. No other details are known but it can be presumed they'll show off more in Hasbro Pulse's Fan First Friday.

New Info:

At around 3am AEST 3rd July, the Back to the Future X Transformers Collaborative was revealed on the Transformers social media pages:-

An Autobot called Gigawatt transforming into an approximation of a DMC DeLorean!*

A Walmart exclusive, 1985 Limited Edition individually numbered packages were produced in honour of the film's release year. Appear to have sold out extremely quickly unfortunately.

As reported by Geek Culture, 'A second variant will be released starting 1 October 2020 via HasbroPulse.com and select retailers around the world.' So luckily we can still get our own piece of BTTF 35th anniversary goodness.

Geek Culture also states, 'The Autobot comes armed with a launcher + whip antenna, detachable Mr. Fusion, and transforms from robot to car mode in 17 steps. Apparently, Gigawatt's eyes are designed to look like Doc Brown's goggles too.'

They also report that the Top Gun Transformer previously leaked has most likely been delayed because the new film was, with a new release date of December 2020 so we'll likely get more news around then, probably after Gigawatt's general release.

*Seems like unlike Ectrotron and Cadillac, they either didn't want to or couldn't get a licencing deal with DMC, so there's no branding on it.

I only ordered the Ghostbusters one the other week since they didn't end up selling out earlier. Will definitely get the Delorean as soon as it comes out.

Let's hope this one has a figure of Marty McFly or The Doc or both.

Because I found Ectotron's Slimer to be underwhelming.

That's just the first run. Thankfully, there will be a general un-numbered release on Pulse, which other online stores will no doubt be able to get too.

Oh, right! Yeah fair enough. Ideally I'd get a numbered one to keep sealed and open up a general one, but I'm just happy to be able to get one at all.

So I know it says the eyes are like that to represent Doc Brown's goggles but I can't help seeing Rung's face. Also kinda wish the inside didn't have all that plastic for a cleaner windshield but I'm guessing it's necessary for transformation/stability purposes.

Someone tell on Twitter was saying there's a general release in October.

I don't like the windscreen... surely they could have done something better with that or not have transparent windows at all.

No figurines is surprising. Maybe they would need to pay royalties to the actors if they did figurines.

So there is a limited release of 1985 toys at Walmart and a general release in October... the Walmart ones are already sold out and scalpers already have them for sale on ebay for a grand. :(

This one is not expected here, but I hope that changes.

Shut up and take my money!!!

Like Griffin I wish they'd done something more with that front windscreen... even if they made it a shade of blue to hide the kibble inside but I really want at least one of these although ideally I'd like 2 - one to open and one to keep incase I ever get to meet one of the actors and get it autographed...
Absolutely love the concept, and as it's one of my husband's favourite movies I finally might be able to display one of my Transformers on his bar!

I really wanted to like this, but even my love for BTTF won't be enough to loosen the purse strings.

My feeling exactly.

Given all the fan-art of a Delorean Transformer over the years I was expecting something pretty special, but this is a pretty uninspiring attempt. There are 2 main distinctive features on the car (for me) - the gull-wing doors and the black stacked cooling vents at the rear. Both of those should have been featured prominently on the robot mode. If ever there was a series where the robot mode needs to give away the alt mode, it's the crossover series.

Just look at these old concepts and realise how phoned in this is:

The figure they put inside that packaging still has clear plastic windshield and windows. Very disappointing. Just using a darker coloured clear plastic on those parts would've made the figure better.
(I was hoping that the clear plastic on these parts were only used in early samples.)

I actually like that a lot more than the Walmart packaging as it will go better next to Ectotron on my shelf. Don't even care about the numbered release anymore (not that it was likely I'd end up owning one anyway).

It still could change before release, Hasbro wouldn't be oblivious to the huge volume of complaints online about it.

Some more images by TakaraTomy (https://news.tfw2005.com/2020/09/27/transformers-x-back-to-the-future-gigawatt-production-sample-additional-images-420787), which means they must be releasing it as well.

The darker "glass" makes it look a lot better in car mode, hiding the parts inside. I wouldn't be surprised if the delayed release is because of this last minute change, due to all of the negative feedback they got when first revealed middle of the year.

Also wanting to point out here (it was mentioned somewhere else, but should be noted here), that Gigawatt should be at EB Games and Amazon Australia... originally planned for October, but I would imagine that it has been delayed a couple months after that since we are only just now seeing production samples.

That is surprising and disappointing, after EB stopped taking orders as well... because we were supposed to be getting a large amount of stock into Australia (more units than any other exclusive in the last year). So maybe Hasbro America cut our numbers, and the local branch is having to cut back on what they had promised to the retailers who are getting it.
