View Full Version : Hasbro reveals on Fan First Friday
Paulbot

With San Diego Comic-con cancelled this year many companies are doing virtual presentations
Tonight around 1am (if conversions are right, it’s 1100 am US EST) is a Hasbro Panel about Transformers (and then GIJoe 90 minutes later)
Go to Hasbro Pulse Facebook to stream. https://facebook.com/hasbropulse/
Although there’s been leaks it should have some official reveals and maybe some things that haven’t leaked.
If you never made it to a BotCon or Toyfair it might give you an idea of how those Hasbro Panels felt being there.

Thanks Paulbot. I was going to go to bed, but if it?s only an hour or so...... nothing like watching reveals live

Grrr. The super articulated ReD series of figures is Walmart exclusive, so harder to get.
Looks like Blaster doesn?t come with his cassette Steeljaw either.
But there were some nice Generations Selects reveals though.

Well, I'm totally down for Tigertrack (I look forward to Dirge's shock).
Also Centurion Drone. That accessories pack is a really great idea. :)

I didn't watch the reveal, but did they actually mention on the presentation that this was a replacement for SDCC?
The news from SDCC a couple weeks ago was that they were looking to do a virtual convention, and I imagined that Hasbro would be a company willing to be involved in that on the usual weekend of SDCC in July... but then there is a note on TFW that more things are to be revealed next week, so maybe they are doing a weekly reveal of products instead of an all-in-one reveal in July.

You’re right, I was getting my dates confused (June vs July) so this morning’s stream was just about exclusives and not the SDCC event

Centurion Drone (or Droid), for those like me who are unfamiliar with this character, is from the IDW comic universe (https://tfwiki.net/wiki/File:Stormbringer2_Centuriondroids.jpg)... which is based on a concept from the original 1980s cartoon (https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Centurion_droid). Ironically, even though Centurion Droid was introduced in the IDW Stormbringer comic waaaaay back in 2006 (https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Stormbringer_issue_2), the Seige Brunt (https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Brunt_(G1)#War_for_Cybertron:_Siege) toy last year was so obviously based on it, it was almost like Brunt was really a "pre-redeco" of the intended character toy that it was actually based on (particularly since Gen1 Brunt didn't have a robot mode, so a transforming toy of it could have been a redeco of almost any cybertronian tank toy).
(the term "pre-redeco" is only something I use, when we've occasionally seen a mould released first as some other character before the obvious character it was designed to be, like MP Nightstalker (Steeljaw mould, still not released yet), Titans Return Optimus (Octane) and Megatron (Blitzwing).)

Both the stream and the ad blurb said “ a head sculpt designed to resemble the look of the ruthless and fearless AUTOBOT STRATEGICIAN from the IDW comic books” but the current images just have Spinister’s head. I’m hoping that these images aren’t the final head.

Tigertrack looks nice... but I'm not sure I would pay to import him (I still prefer Red Alert).
The R.E.D. line seems pointless to me (we have MP versions of these characters), but I am sure many others will enjoy them.
Interesting reuse of the Spinister mould - I'm surprised there's no gang moulded head for Rotorstorm, though.

The video of their live stream on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=267951300956442) - it goes for about 25 minutes, but jump in 3 minutes as that's when it actually starts.

It's bizarre that EB and Amazon have taken Rotorstorm rather than the Centurion pack. I would have thought the Centurion would have a much broader appeal to collectors who want the parts for the various WFC toys they've already bought. Was the original Rotorstorm released in Australia, and particularly popular here, or something?

Rotorstorm wasn't particularly popular. He did okay, I guess.
The EB buyer probably has a far shallower knowledge than almost everyone here, and perhaps thinks with all those accessories bumping up the price of the deluxe, it wont sell? Who knows...

I was really excited for Rotostorm until I saw it was a lazy, lazy redeco and not a redeco. Different head, and spoiler instead of the tail rotor would have gone a long way. I know they've claimed the head will be different, but, if it wasnt ready why did they announce it? They've CG announcements before.
