From what we can see it just looks like a smaller version (not the same mould though) of T30 Rattrap. I'll stick with my deluxe. Seems a bit more complex than I expected though.

Pretty sure that?s a third party Legends scale Rattrap that I saw Peaugh review a few days ago. The toy is called Transform Element MM02 Mice Warriors.
I wouldn?t plug a third party here, but it looks identical to the one in this video (https://youtu.be/HoGIIawdEjc)

It's quite a bit different from the TE one. TE has the rat hind legs stay on the back while this new Rattrap has the hind legs become the robot legs. Nose is different too.
Here's a comparison between 'Kingdom', Generations and BW Rattraps: https://tformers.com/transformers-kingdom-rattrap-compared-to-generations-and-beast-wars/38238/news.html

Wave 2 of earthrise still hasn't been released yet and Kingdom should still be 4 months away so the toys wouldn't even be in production yet. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a preproduction sample taken from a Hasbro office.

A slight improvement of bot mode proportions over Generations version at the cost of turning the beast mode into an unarticulated ornament. I sincerely hope the other Kingdom beasts get better treatment.

I have the same concerns. I slightly warmed to it after reading that this is essentially Legends size now (they're called 'Core' class). It's just a hair shorter than the WFCE Cliffjumper mold in robot mode.

Screen shots of the video that is on youtube somewhere (https://news.tfw2005.com/2020/08/25/transformers-kingdom-rattrap-in-hand-images-417938) (I don't want to post up the link to the video in case it is generating revenue, as I really think that this has to be an unauthorised acquisition)... showing the transformation and how it compares to the Generations Rattrap and Netflix Bumblebee.
The first wave of Earthrise wasn't scheduled for release until March (and started showing up in America and Asia in February... so Kingdom could have a similar release schedule, especially if retailers in America are slow to sell off Earthrise (wave 2 and 3 Deluxe class is still not out yet, with just four months left of the year, and wave 1 has been out in America for six months so far), while a lot of people are out of work or have limited income.
If Hasbro toys are leaking again, up to 6 months before they hit retail, it is more than enough time for pirate companies to acquire and copy the toys, to sell them before the real ones are released. I like seeing some leaks, close to their release (because it is annoying tease if something is leaked this early and you have to wait half a year to get one), but if this continues and we are already seeing competition between people wanting to have these on youtube, I think it might not be too long before Hasbro in America does something about it.

These look pretty great for retail release figures, and I'm glad that BW is finally getting the widespread love and respect it gets. It's hard to say at this point whether I'll skip them entirely to try and save some money, or just go all out. There are so many great releases lately, it's difficult to keep up. It definitely seems like with the thinner more human like profiles of the BW characters that they'll be able to save a decent chunk of plastic money for making these figures.
I did buy T30 and Rattrap and Waspinator which are great versions of those characters (I missed Rhinox sadly), so maybe I will cave eventually.
I'm all in for Warpath though 100%, I just hope he is a small Legends-sized Deluxe, or even just a Core class figure. It would look way out of place with my minibots if he was too big.

27th August 2020, 06:53 PM
I like the screen accuracy of the figures. There's a rumour floating about that Tigatron is going to be a Voyager class with separate engineering to Cheetor (who is a deluxe).
Problematically, I found quite a few of the season 1 BW designs kind of bland. That said I'd love a screen accurate Terrorsaur, and a do-over on Universe 2.0 Dinobot.
If this goes so far as the later designs like Fuzors and Transmetals, I'm all in. A new Silverbolt and TM2 Dinobot after all this time would be dream stuff.

I’m not sure how I feel about the whole thing. Obviously I feel for the Hasbro team working hard on these designs only to have them leaked during not even the middle of the previous toyline. At the same time I understand these guys just want to throw us fans a bone and share the love. We don’t usually see much of the pre-release stages, apart from with Unicron and a few prototype bits here and there for Omega, Trypticon and the like. I’ll admit it’s pretty cool to see a prototype stage Cyclonus for example.
If anything out of all this, I think the fact that so much is leaking and/or circulating around the fandom indicates that there is a restlessness in the fandom that should maybe be addressed in some way, though I’m honestly not quite sure what that is/how it should be.
I think most of us are getting a bit burnt out or exhausted with constant reveals/listings, but at the same time I (and others) can’t help but get uber excited anyway. It’s some rubbernecking that is fierce for collectors, even when stresses are so high.

I see it in two ways.
Firstly and objectively, it is absolutely Hasbro's right to decide when things are revealed and come down hard on those who violate NDAs and such. There is no rational argument I can present that will dispute that.
On a more selfish level though, I have certainly been enjoying the leaks as I like to see Transformers as soon as I hear about them. So while I fully understand it is Hasbro's right to do this, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little upset.

I like some leaks too, but mostly the name leaks, as this got out of hand really fast, to the point of risking future official toys if pirate companies managed to reproduce them first.
That twitter thread was very vague... but I haven't been following discussions on tfw. It sort of sounded like people were upset about other people having a problem with stolen goods and as a result they would stop sharing images in retaliation.

The comparison photo show it's not too bad. It's what I expected though size-wise for a deluxe minibot following Cliffjumper's lead.
Cheetor and Blackarachnia are both thin/slim characters too so it's reasonable (although the price still bites)
I like how someone posted the cartoon scale chart on that thread. If anything the Skyfire toy is too tall!

Pretty sure Warpath is on the smaller side because he is a minibot. It doesn’t seem like he’s quite as small as Bumblebee and Cliffjumper though which I actually would have liked, but I can see why they maybe didn’t go all the way. I’m fine with it, looks like a great toy still.

Your'e paying the same price for a smaller product, less raw materials used and a lazy design -one a 3P company even had design a clip to hold the rear in place during the transformation. In essence, more for less.
You may be able to justify it, but I can't.

Parts count increases the cost, even Takara have confirmed this. Okay, they could have done Cliffjumper without partsforming at a deluxe price point, but it would have meant no accessory. And having seen the way the 3P add on works, it would be super fragile and something kids would easily break. So I understand why Hasbro went the way they did.
Even how it is, it's still more complex than Refraktor. Why did nobody complain about Refraktor? And in fact rush out to buy three of them? Does Refraktor being a head taller than Cliffjumper make it a better toy?

Regarding an official statement on parts count we have this:
"Regarding the recent constant price increment: Takara Tomy booth director mentioned that fans have overly demanded for the cartoon aesthetic. So in order to pull off the cartoon aesthetic while maintaining the proper alt mode, the number of parts for each figure has gone up compared to the Masterpiece Datsuns or Wheeljack. The cost of materials has also gone up which also contributes to the rise in pricing. On this matter, Gamelingual let him know that many fans feel that they will be forced to quit the hobby if the prices become too expensive. The response was that this this is something they have discussed with the executives and it contributes to the decisions of what figures will be made next."

Yeah, that SS86 is a show-accurate G1 line is now almost a certainty. It seems like Takara / Hasbro are OK with having two lines (MP and SS) with similar aims (show accuracy and scale) but at different price points.
As for SS86 Hot Rod, I think the bot mode looks animation accurate but alt mode resembles more of Animated series than G1 Hot Rod. MP-09 was decent in both modes but had bad QC and Hot Rod mode was in the wrong scale. MP-28 had a perfect alt mode but blocky bot chest. Can't we get a perfect G1 Roddy? :(

I’m definitely down for an Ark, playsets are my jam. Honestly a lot are expecting it to have a robot mode/transform, but I would be perfectly fine with it being non-transforming and still a Titan class toy. They could definitely jam more features in that way.
I'd really love to have a decent fold-open, large playset that has an accurate form of the Ark... but Hasbro will probably cheapen it or spoil it some how.
I really hope it doesn't turn into a robot. A transforming/unfolding playset would be awesome, though.

I think that they'll keep scale with the WFCE stuff. It's not the first time that they've shunted releases that should have been in one line sideways into another line just to get them to shelves - at the tail end of the 2007 Movie Line we had those repaints of AEC Figures and Classics Mirage that were meant to be for the Universe 2.0 line, and the Reveal the Shield figures were meant to be in Generations but there was no room for them there so they ended up in the movieverse technically.

I have the feeling that because of the Beast Wars stuff, they’ve moved a fair amount of the G1 1986 updates from WFC into Studio Series to make room. Earthrise is pretty much mini masterpiece at this point, I definitely wouldn’t be surprised.

I think it's a new character. Each part of WFC has had it's own partsforming power up characters.
The first War for Cybertron year got 'Weaponisers', the second (and current) year got the 'Modulators', next year we get the 'Fossilisers', which are all these skeletal creatures that break down to form bony armour add ons for the bigger characters. As such, it's likely to be a made up, or tertiary level, Beast Wars character.

I respect your decision not to buy it, but I would like to point out this wouldn't be a first for Studio Series using fake vehicle parts on bot modes for screen accuracy. They've done it with live action designs, so I don't see why G1 would be any different.
That said, I'm gonna be annoyed if we do start getting G1 stuff in Studio Series. From the '86 figures I've seen in Earthrise and now the SS leaks I'm genuinely wondering what is the difference between the two lines now? Can't we just let the live action movieverse have its own thing? Not like G1 doesn't get enough representation as it is.

The scuttlebutt is that it's to extend Studio Series to the next live action film. Also isn't next year a big anniversary year for the '86 movie?

Deluxe waves were pretty good but Voyagers and, in particular, Leader class waves have been very slow or skipped.
There's a chance though that the buyers at the Toyfair might look at Studio Series look at Generations and they might be too similar for them to buy both?
The Studio Series has had the link to the big movies (the billion dollar successes not the animated flop from the 80s) and the realistic and licensed cars/truck angle going for it to make them stand out

I probably didn't notice because I don't buy leader class figures when they're as big as a proper leader class figure.

Scourge looks pretty amazing. The only downer for me is how lacklustre the vehicle mode for that design is. I remember there was a phase in the fandom about 20 years ago where it just got called the soap dish.
I actually swore at the screen when I saw the clear photos of Hot Rod. It looks stunning. I can feel how good it looks overriding my fake parts hatred.

(moved posts and added to the topic title to cover both lots of leaks at the moment, as there seems to be a fair bit of overlap coming next year, and some of these images are in groups containing both toylines)
Images of what is claimed to be Ractonite from Kingdom (https://news.tfw2005.com/2020/09/21/transformers-kingdom-fossilizer-ractonite-images-419938)... said to be a "Fossilizer".
This almost feels like it might have been a rejected concept from Beast Wars (or Beast Machines), in which the reformatting scan uses fossils (like in the first episode of Beast Wars), but instead of recreating the living form for the Predacon (or Maximal), it just replicates the actual fossils as the alt-mode.
And another leaked toy gets the full video review treatment, with what is claimed to be Hotrod from Studio Series next year - screenshots (not the video) can be seen here (https://news.tfw2005.com/2020/09/20/transformers-studio-series-86-hot-rod-in-hand-images-419887).

I'm also curious about this, specifically with respect to Starscream. There's a Starscream listed for SS86, but obviously we've just had the (very G1 accurate) WFCE Starscream. Repack? Repaint? Slightly remold? I'd love a new mold entirely but that's because I'm weak for jet fighter transformers.

I get what you mean here. Yes, it's been pointed out that the 1986 movie is technically a movie, but it feels kind of weird, as if Hasbro is imposing G1 on a specifically movieverse line.
I don't think the well of movie characters has run dry just yet. A tribute to the 35th anniversary of the G1 movie could easily have its own line or, you know, WFC (which I am aware is focusing on BW next year).
We have had G1 homages since the original Classics line from 2006. Since Thrilling 30, there has been a shift towards greater G1 screen accuracy, too, so it feels kind of redundant to have another older child/collector line focused on G1 accurate figures.
Also, you're right - it's not as if Hasbro are out of movieverse characters. From RotF alone, there are still Skids and Mudflap as both the ice cream truck and individual Chevrolet cars, Jolt (who is apparently confirmed somewhere), Sideswipe as a coupe (which would be different enough to warrant a new figure or at least a heavy remould), and the Fallen himself. If Hasbro wanted to pad out the line, they could also do a bumper remould and slight redeco on Bumblebee to make him RotF-accurate, or they could repaint Blackout to make Grindor.

SS86 Kup's face bothers me - it feels too long for the rest of the head. But I feel like I know why it is designed that way. I feel like they've gone for his "fix me" look on Quintessa with his sad droopy eyes and longer face. I can't seem to upload an image to show.
I personally I would have been fine to keep the face design but make it about 80-90% of what it is so it didn't dominate over the helmet so much.

This is so exciting. Finally some yellow cartoon Dinobots, and Grimlock doesn’t have his needlessly massive shoulders for once. Makes me even more excited for Slag and the rest.
Jazz looks very accurate, which is nice because we have a pretty definitive version of the winged one in RTS Jazz. I love my Legends Blurr and this one looks extremely close to it. Unless it’s spectacular I’ll stick with my Legends one.

If these are final versions, they all say 86 now where the previous ones had the individual numbers... which is a bit of a shame, as I liked the ordering system for the packaging.
And it boggles the mind as to why Cyclonus is in Kingdom... unless they are planning to have another Cyclonus come out later for SS.

You have to consider Earthrise/Kingdom and Studio Series TFTM as all parts of the same collection.
Earthrise has the Quintesson Judge, Allicon, Sharkticon, Kranix, Arcee, Cliffjumper, Prowl, Ironhide, Ratchet, Grapple
WFC Netflix has Bumblebee, Soundwave
Kingdom has Cyclonus and unconfirmed Galvatron and Earthmode Ultra Magnus
WFC has Unicron
Studio Series gives us Hot Rod, Scourge, Kup, Jazz, Grimlock, Wheelie and Blurr, unconfirmed Slag
Out of the packaging all of these figures are in scale (well not Unicron) and same designs, they're meant to fit together.
Throw in a reissue of Devastator and it's clear the TFTM cast is coming at us from multiple directions
