View Full Version : Netflix wave 3 toys

The 3rd wave of Netflix toys are set to be released in April (probably a little later in Australia), before the 3rd chapter of the cartoon is released on Netflix in July.

The first two have had their official images leaked, along with their product details... which means their official reveal should be soon as well.

(since the source of these images and info didn't reveal how they got it, and the text is clearly of Walmart origin, I only have to credit Walmart for it)

I just want to comment that way too many of the Netflix toys are just lazy.... considering we got great remoulds of Bumblebee and Soundwave, so they had plenty of potential.

The Optimus Primal and Rattrap are very very similar to the regular release versions, where it is really just the shading or tone that's mostly different. They don't even look to have anything different with their accessories.

And the "Sparkless Seeker"... they already did a tetrajet redeco in wave 1. The colours on this one don't even make this one exciting to add to the Seeker Squadron.
Considering Netflix packaged toys aren't a guarantee that those toys will even be in the Netflix cartoon, why not give us a conehead seeker deco, like Dirge. I know people will complain about no cone on the head, but remember that the original box-art for the Coneheads didn't have cones on their heads.

BTW, we should be getting Netflix toys at Kmart sometime after April... but since they only have their size code listed, I can't guarantee that we will be getting wave 3. We should... but I don't want to stick my neck out on that just yet.

At least this wave won’t be hitting in the middle of Xmas rush! And lockdowns!

Wave 3 deluxes, https://news.tfw2005.com/2021/03/13/transformers-wave-3-netflix-deluxes-at-us-retail-429960#images

might grab a couple of drones (just to army build my Quint/Mercenary section) but that's about it with this Wave.. Very disappointing.

Any news on the expected Leader Class?

Autobot Cheetor - minor redeco - with the vintage reissue, that's three versions of Cheetor at Walmart... and in general for the rest of us. Seems like a wasted slot for a minor redeco.
Autobot Deep Cover - redeco Sideswipe/Deep Cover - another wasted slot, as we have the darker deco out at the same time through different sources (which for many global fans would be through the same online stores they import through).
Decepticon Sparkless Bot - redeco Siege Barricade? - I love the way they coloured the toy to make it look like something dug up from a kids backyard a decade later. It is so distorted visually, I don't immediately see it as being yet another (boring) use of that mould.
Quintesson Deseeus Army Drone - black redeco Siege Ironhide - since the cartoon uses a lot of recycled moulds, this one probably makes sense... but to me it just looks like a black Ironhide. At least give it a new head.

I wonder if there is supposed to be a fifth toy, like the first two waves?

This round particularly feels uninspired with it's 'characters'. Sparkless Bot, Sparkless Seeker, and Deseeus Army Drone aren't names/identities at all, and Deep Cover could easily have been given a new identity.

And then the other three are the same bots already released (in Kingdom and Vintage) but I guess you get a free Rattrap if you'd waited for that Primal.

The Deep Cover reminds me a bit of the missed opportunity with Decepticon Mirage in wave 1, they couldn't have come up with a new identity for a blue Lambo? A few yellow highlights and he could have passed as an Armada Side Swipe homage.

Would have been great if they had completed the Lambos and just issued a Clamp Down instead of another Deep Cover

Good point.

None of this wave appeals to me at all; but I'd be buying a Clampdown.

Wow, I won't be getting any of these. I'm sure the scalpers will still buy them up though. I can see some of these being sought after niche toys in time to come. And the $49 price was always a sweetener.

Maybe they'll restock some older waves as happened with Soundwave/Prime i.e. Megs/Hotlink. I bet there are still those wanting Soundwave for a nonscalper price.

Instead of Sparkless Seeker, I really wish they would make a Battlestar Galactica Viper crossover. I'd buy that in a second.

It seems like I'm in the minority and actually interested in all of these figures - except Primal and Rattrap which I already have.

I'd seen the darker coloured Cheetor early enough to decide I wanted that version rather than the regular release, and the other deluxes are interesting enough to double dip on moulds for in my mind.

As others have said - it would have been a great opportunity for a red Mirage, which remains one of the few Diaclone homages not done yet.

What a waste of a slot. There are plenty of WFC leader repaints they could put in that spot and I really don’t care too much if they don’t show in the show itself.

I don't think the contents have ever been a spoiler (particularly since the main character inside is actually shown on one side of the box)... and this one feels the same to me.
(although... the strap-on Matrix screams plot device - if it isn't something in the cartoon, it is a bizarre element to have included... then again, was the gimmick of cubes in putty ever related to something in the cartoon, considering it appears to be in all three boxes)

Contents of the box mirrored from that UK site (https://news.tfw2005.com/2021/03/16/transformers-war-for-cybertron-kingdom-spoiler-pack-content-revealed-430025).

Three sides of the box was also revealed today on the Walmart website (https://news.tfw2005.com/2021/03/15/walmart-collector-con-pre-orders-going-live-now-kinda-430004), which is significantly different to the first two (which was a little too similar if you didn't see the character art on the side).

I don't mind the spoiler pack being Megatron. I'm just disappointed that it's the same Megatron that's already been released many times - even twice now within the Netflix line.

I was hoping it might instead be the Earthrise mould.

nalops
17th March 2021, 11:16 AM
It'll be the 5th Siege Megatron plus the 2 Earthrise ones... And I have 3 (just got Netflix Megatron yesterday) plus G2 and I kinda still want the 35th Animation one.

Then again, I really really want the purple Paleotrex. Guess I'll just stick an Autobot logo on the Wave 1 version. Hopefully does end up cheap like the Ultra Magnus.

Is it bad that despite already having G2 Sideswipe and Gen Selects Deep Cover, I now want the Netflix Deep Cover and original Siege Sideswipe to go with Red Alert and Tigertrack plus complete the colours......

Edit: Oh wait, there's that rumoured Earth Sideswipe. Hmmmmmm

I also saw the rumoured ER Sideswipe and it was on the same list of rumours along side "Earthrise Deep Cover". I think it's what we've already been shown (as opposed to a remold to an Earthen car).

Sorry, apparently according to an udpated list (I saw it when first posted), the Earth mode WFCS updates are still on - Sideswipe (and Red Alert), and Mirage are on the list.

Deep Cover is now just listed as straight repaint. (https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/im-drunk-and-from-leak-squad-i-quit-it-and-here-it-is-on-a-throwaway.1205827/)

Yeah.. not sure what to think. A lot of people say they aren't buying them due to just being repaints, but considering how fast the last two waves sold out I would not want to take any chances.

Chewtoy, Primus and Megatron will probably shelf warm, the others should move as they're at least somewhat different

Hasbro in America have sent out another one of their toy promotion boxes to American fansites again, this time to feature the 3rd chapter of the Netflix cartoon, and noting the 25th anniversary of Beast Wars.
Even though these promo boxes are getting smaller (the first ones during the Movie years were filled with dozens of toys, or the entire set of a Botbots toys), they are still beautiful creations by Hasbro marketing, with an amazing outer box, and a number of included visual materials... and it has always been a shame that they are only sent to Americans, particularly when at least one fansite has been seen selling theirs on ebay in the past, despite it being a free gift (they should give them away in a competition if they don't want to keep it).
(I just want those gorgeous outer boxes to have on display, as I'm likely to have bought all the toys anyway... I'd just hate to think that any of them get thrown away.)

The contents of this promo pack (https://news.tfw2005.com/2021/04/25/transformers-war-for-cybertron-kingdom-promotional-box-432309)...
- 4 randomly selected toys (2 from the 3rd wave of Netflix Deluxes, and 2 of 3 different toys from wave 2 of Kingdom).
- Issue 1 of IDW's Beast Wars comic
- Complete Season 1 of the 1996 Beast Wars cartoon on DVD (an exclusive not-for-sale case and 4 discs, which would be worth more than the contents that few people getting this box would even be playing on DVD anymore)
- 4 art prints promoting the 3rd chapter of the Netflix cartoon

I'm sure you have seen the TFW post saying they just hit US retail... so I would hope soon. I have a Kmart pretty close by I go to every 2 to 3 days and do a check - as of now they STILL have the WFC Netflix Voyager tag on the shelf with an "out of stock" ticket beside it. So they are clearly expecting stock, but its been a damn long wait. Waiting on news myself, but the instant I find them on the shelf I will be posting it up. I'd like to know if there is an expected timeframe to save some time and fuel (also sick of those damned Covid check in's).

Hopefully but unfortunately, that doesn't guarantee it'll show up here soon. Heck, some stuff showed up here before the US. Distribution has been weird this year.

I'm in a Facebook group that imports Transformers so I'll be able to get them via Asia, more expensive but bearable, but it'd be great if they still showed up here.

Good luck on your hunts.
