Not because he's bad (people seem to like him a lot), but because, selfishly, I only got Hot Rod a couple of months ago and I don't really need another trailer.

Since they are pre-pack displays straight from Hasbro Australia, the contents should be the same at each store that gets one.

It doesn't have anything "unreleased" on it, but there might be some items on it that have been really difficult to find for some people (like Beast Megatron, which I am still yet to see in a store).

This is going to be a great sale, if the figures you want can actually be found. Those Leader prices are frightening! And considering how Beast Megatron, Ultra Magnus and Grimlock were not easy to get for some, it's nice for those who get one supercheap. Unfortunately the scalpers will buy them and make super profits.

The recent sightings of Sky Lynx are nice for those who missed out or didn't care for him last sale. And it makes me think how this could be Rodimus next year :).

As for those prepacked displays:
1. Do they come transported like that with all the figures in them, like a huge shipping carton with maybe padding around/inside, or do all the figures come in a super big, brown box with the display unassembled and packed with them?
2. What happens to them after the sale, since they are so product-specific (apart from griffin bringing them home :p)?
3. I wouldn't mind taking one home - instant, themed display shelf (eat my dust Ikea Detolf!)
4. Always look at the regular toy shelves - there are sometimes more stock and Commanders are probably there too.

I don't think they do take it off the shelves unless you choose pick up. Last year the online stock was treated as a separate store in their system and that is why once it ran out online, that was it. It was also why there was limited stock as it was only what they had at the distribution centre.

I hope they send out the hard copy catalogue to my house or that I can pick one up in store. It's such a useful thing to carry around to the other retailers who can price match. The 4 week sale might overlap with (wave 3 Kingdom) stock arriving at other retailers, giving us more buying opportunities. Toymate members also get 5% off matched prices, which Toymate should honour since Big W is not a "percent off" type sale (Toymate won't match those).

If you select in-store pickup then the item is taken from the shelf and kept for you at the service desk. If you select delivery then it comes from a distribution centre.

I'd say it's 50% given they should be the only 2 available, then 45% a double up with 5% you get lucky/unlucky to get Galvatron. I'd say it's worth ordering 2 on 15th for pick up, if you don't get what you want, return and go back on 17th.

The maths is actually quite complex. The chance depends on how many Wave 2 cases they have. There are 1 Magnus and 1 Megs in a case. And if there are any Wave 3 cases mixed in (1 Magnus and 1 Galvatron), the maths is harder.

It's combinations maths without repetition (in other words, once you take an item, you don't put it back unlike a coin toss, so a taken Magnus or Megs is not counted again). It also depends on truly random selection and an even number of Mags to Megs (1:1) - both of these assumptions might be false. The * below represents the combo you want (1 Mags and 1 Megs). Ideally, they have 1 case, so your chance is 100% of getting 1 Mags and 1 Megs.

1 case: 1 Mags (a) and 1 Megs (b)

Possible combinations: {a,b}*

Probability: 1/1 = 100%


2 cases: 2 Mags (a and b) and 2 Megs (c and d)

I have a similar question for the SS Leader selection. If I get one, will it be 1/3 each for Grimlock, Jetfire and DOTM Megatron, given that's what they're advertising?

I can't say with any certainty but don't think anyone has seen Megatron and Jetfire this time. It may just be Grimlock. I'd hold off until there's confirmed sightings if those are the ones you're after.

Yes... images in retailer catalogues (and sometimes on their websites) are just indicative of the size class being advertised and will use any official images they have on hand, even old ones if they don't have images of the current items (the people doing up the catalogues wouldn't know the different case assortments, and just hope that they have been given the correct images for that size class... which sometimes gets mixed up too).

I asked Toymate and Target about price matching and showed them the catalogue. Toymate said they WON'T price match the Big W sales prices - they only match regular prices. Target said they match Big W's sale prices on toys but not electronics.

And the online sale does start at 7am Eastern Standard time (according to the Big W website), which means those to the West will need to wake up early it would seem :(.

At the BigW near me, the pre-pack display only has all the older figures in it that were in the first one that was seen on here, so I'm thinking that Hasbro Australia stocked these displays with all of their remaining old stock, which resulted in some of them having new wave 3 stock when they ran out of the older stock... so I think if you are lucky to have a store that has wave 3 stock, you might be the only ones to get them until wave 3 hits other stores later.

It is worth noting that when the sale prices go live on the website from tomorrow, you could start trying to get other retailers to price-match from the BigW website (the product pages, not the catalogue pages).
Most retailers will not price-match the half-price items (it is always up to their discretion, or use an excuse like it is below their cost price to get out of matching any price, even if it isn't below their cost price).

I remember doing this to get Metroplex at the sale price. Not the Titan one, the Cybertron Leader class one in 2006!

Should be fine. They have to scan the EAN to make sure it's the right item. One of my co-works gave me a hard time with my last online order because I ordered the Ultimate Edition of Spider-Man Miles Moreles. She grabbed the standard edition off the shelf, got it back to layby, and scanned it in to complete the order and it said it was the wrong item.

I'm guessing my co-workers are a bit busy with orders at the moment. I ordered the 488 GTE at 7:04am AEST, but I still haven't gotten an email or text telling me to pick up my order.

The Ryde area segment of the transformer fandom has seemed to hit Big W fairly hard since though. Both are showing up low stock for Rodimus and the Leaders.

So my Rodimus came today and it did come from the Mirrabooka store. So that's one less for tomorrow's instore sale. However, delivery is still not available, at least for Perth. It hasn't been mentioned here yet but you can get 2000 bonus Reward points for online Rodimus order but it must be "boosted" at least 2 hours before ordering (see the website). For Woolies Rewards members, that's $10 off your next shop. Too bad I didn't do this before ordering online.

well it didnt take long for the TF display to be pillaged at Mac square in C'town NSW, Went in around 8:50 this morning to grab a Grimlock for my boy and Ultra Magnus for myself and they had zero leaders left!!!

I got lucky, either someone put one back or a staff member found it in a "hiding spot" and popped it back, as on my second trip around the display after checking on other things for my Kids a Grimlock was there so not all doom and gloom for me.. Magnus was just a buy due to pricing as Im still happy with the Siege figure if I couldn't get one..

Such shame as they were stacked as of yesterday.

I hope it wasnt the Ebay sellers who raided the stands and actually people who wanted them for the kids or self display!!

Same with Tuggeranong ACT... this is pretty standard for them happened last year. Wouldn't be surprise if a bunch of them turn up on eBay like Sky Lynx did last year.

Is this if any value at Big W? They use a single article number to represent the entire range of Kingdom Leaders. That article number is under specifications on the Big W site. It’s 144017. With that, a Big W can tell you current stock level, when last received and when last sold.

Yeah, I was afraid that would be the case. Likewise, the barcodes for Ultra Magnus and Kingdom Megatron are the same.

I've been able to use the SKU for other toys. Star Wars sets etc.

I was at Lilydale Big W this morning and they had a few Rodimus primes in stock, Grabbed one and there was about 6 or 7 others. Also got myself a SS86 Grimlock and there was about 4 others in stock. Only figures they didn’t have were Galvatron, Ultra Magnus or BW Megatron. Wishing everyone luck finding what they are after!

Possibly but who can say. If wave 3 Leaders and Cores are here then why not the rest. Nothing in the sightings section about Galvatrons in WA though (Big W or otherwise).

Galvatron was found locally but not posted in the sightings in WA as it looks like one box/two Galvatrons at a store and now with the restrictions in place, we dont want people to be out and about while we shouldnt be.

Im sure we dont want to turn this thread into a debate on who and who shouldn't be out but here in Sydney we are in "Lockdown" but we are not restricted to travel throughout the Metro region, it is more a stay at home directive, while many department stores have not closed. So if you are there for Grocery Shopping, or any other needs there is nothing to stop one from checking BigW, Target, Kmart, Toymate if in the same centre as none of these places have closed and no one will pull you up for it as long as you abide by the rules of Masks and QR check'in.

So I ended up calling a few stores over the last week of the sale and no more Kingdom Leaders came through, or so they told me. Oh well, good for those who got $44 Galvatrons. When I called the Warnbro store (not that I go there but out of curiosity), I gave her the article number and she said "Galvatron?" Ha ha.

At least I got a Rodimus Prime, with whom I'm pleased. It didn't sell out as fast as I thought it would but got mostly bought up in the end. And I got all the Kingdom Cores I wanted at a more decent price - Soundwave, Starscream, Optimus, and a price-matched Megatron from Kmart. I write "more decent" because if Kmart can sell Siege Battlemasters for $4, I wonder how low Cores might come back at (still think $15 for Cores is too high).

Core Soundwave, Optimus and Starscream sold well. At my local there were about 26 Soundwaves and about as many Dracodon just before the sale. 1-2 weeks in and there were no Soundwaves, and now there are still about 15-20 green dudes.

Target and Kmart prices haven't moved as yet but Im sure they will follow suit
