Well, after a month of deliberation and weeks of waiting for results, this morning (since its now 12:58AM while I'm writing this) I'm expecting to receive possibly the most important phone call of my life, or an extremely major disappointment, from Academy Sofitel, located at Hotel Sofitel on Collins Street in Melbourne.
I have applied for their Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management course for 2009. I probably should have posted this earlier considering I had an interview for admission into the course 3 weeks ago. So far I have spent approximately $700 on applying - this includes a $200 interview fee and a new suit/shirt/tie I wore during the interview.
Hypothetically this course could change my life. I would have a better reason to move back into the city which I spent my childhood in, and considering that I have been employed in part time and casual jobs all of this year after completing an Arts Degree at the end of 2007 (which hasn't really sent job opportunities flying towards me at the speed of light) I need this experience to enable me to fulfill my ambition of working overseas in the hospitality industry.
As it stands I've been really unsure of my chances. To everyone who reads this please wish me luck.

Best of luck, man. Get some early sleep and may it all go well. If you can't go to bed, put on a comedy or something that takes your mind off of it. :)

Good luck man, hope you get the call you're hoping for..
And yeah, that's a lotta money spent, I can understand the suit because appearance is everything, and you can keep that forever now, but a $200 interview fee? I've never heard of that... They charge for an interview?

I know what you're all thinking, but I figured it was worth trying. It's an exclusive course that only takes 20-25 people per year.

I too have never heard of an interview fee, was it some kind of application fee as well?

Update: I didn't get a call today as I was promised, hopefully tomorrow morning I will hear some good news. It seems they have been very busy processing interviews and applications from what I gathered last time I talked to the interviewer over the phone.
I got really worried last night driving home from work as a black cat ran across the road in front of me. I know this can be considered as either good or bad luck depending on which cultures interpretation you use, but I didn't need it as I get very paranoid.
Thank you to everyone for all of your support so far.

You're not one of those superstitious people are you? :D Reminds me of a neighbour we once had when there was this one time when she broke a plate. In her mind "bad things happen in 3's" so she then broke 2 more plates over her car's tyre... :D

Not sure if anyone remembers this thread. I've been accepted.
Starting March 10th I'll be studying an advanced diploma of hospitality management at Sofitel on Collins street.
I'm moving into North Balwyn with some relatives for the duration of the course, or until I can find alternative arrangements.

Where abouts in North Balwyn?
Transport is pretty good in Balwyn (most of the inner eastern suburbs actually). If your near the Doncaster Park and ride, the busses from there will have you in the city in 20-30 minutes

Yes, my little car accident...
I should post my new car soon in the non-tf aquis thread. It's very Hound/Swindle-esque...
In regards to my future location, I'll be on Bolinda Road, which is not too far from the nearest tram stop. However I need to find out about buses as this is going to get me into the city quicker obviously.
