I read the first movie's prequel novel. It was 'average' but had no real continuity with the movie making it somewhat pointless.

The prequel comic however did fit in with the actual movie much better than the novel.

I suspect that this novel will suffer the same issues as it takes a fair while to write a novel and the script was completed pretty late in the production phase so it is likely to be another 'bubble' continuity.

Not really. On Alan Dean Foster's blog, he said that he took The Reign of Starscream into account while writing The Veiled Threat so it wouldn't conflict. However, a month later he said he had to make some significant revisions. Hopefully that meant he had to modify it to fit with the Alliance comic.

From what I read of the online preview for the book, it more or less fits in somewhere during issue 4 of Alliance.

Yeah I passed on the prequel novel from the first movie and I enjoyed reading the prequel comics.

That sounds interesting. I would prefer for the novel to work _with_ the prequel comics rather than ignoring them - makes it more worthwhile to me. :) I'm still emotionally scarred from reading the Scott Ciencin book <shudder> so I'm really dying to read a good TF novel.

Thats a bit over the top isn't it Gok? I mean yeah the book was a struggle to read...particularly for a decent level TF fan but I think it's quite silly to say a book "emotionally scarred" you.

I for one am looking forward to picking this book up.

The Ciencin book was truly painful to read. I had to drag my brain along kicking and screaming to finish it. The number of spelling and grammatical errors littered throughout that book (for the first few chapters I actually used a pencil and started making corrections - I gave up soon though because there's just too many!) didn't help either. Needless to say I won't be reading the other books in the Keepers series... I've heard that they're better than book 1, but the first book has left such a foul taste to me that I absolutely have no desire to read them.

Could people please post any sightings for this book either here or in your regional sightings thread? I just checked out Border Books Parramatta today - nothing. :(

I have not seen the book anywhere in actual stores (I work in Parra and the day it was meant to come out Borders was totally useless) so I ended up ordering it from Chaos as mentioned above

The blurb on the back of the prequel novel mentions Australia which is nice. The prequel comic also had an Australian cameo.
