Pics for teasers and i'm sure most of the Sydsiders have already gotten a peak of them via griffin whom had brought them down to the last Parra fair:

That Drag Strip looks hot Iceman. He's the only must have here as I got plenty of different megs and OP's and everyone knows Overkill is a little cassette, not a big deluxe T-Rex.
Still....I might end up with them all.

He appeared once in AMerican G1 for primus sake!!!

im not complaining, i love minor characters, what the fric did Ultramagnus ever acutally do?! And sideswipe!!

im glad they have been released in the colony, i might get Megajerk and overkill, but geez! Dragstrip is a repaint and not even a retooled head?!!! You trying to get my blood pressure higher Hasbro?!!!

ohhh just a note...the paintjob of Dragstrip at the top is abit dodgy, so choose a good one if there's a few to pick from. i've no luck for that but looking forward to the mass release in the retail stores here to exchange.

Toy Kingdom has a very very short exchange window. About 7 days, I believe. So they're a sunk cost if u're holding onto them Icy

:) i've no intentions of refunding to TK.... just exchanging the toy with another retailer

Sure hope we get to see these in more than the Toy Kingdom/ToyWorld/Uncle Petes stores.

Dragstrip is so purty!

Dragstrip will be an opener for me, while all four will be purchased for the pretty pretty boxes. So i'm breaking a rule .. but who cares.

Thats if they get released in New Zealand.

The Special Editions have now turned up at Kmart for $38 each. Slightly cheaper than the TRU $40 (and Kmart are more likely to have them on sale), but still above the Toy Kingdom price. Haven't found them at a Toyworld yet, which is supposed to be the same chain as Toy Kingdom now...
So if Kmart have another %-off toy sale after Christmas, they could be close to $30 each. If any are left after the last minute Chrissy toy shopping...

Sigh, unfortunately my Local Kmart is one of those laaaaaate Kmarts, they tend to restock AFTER the sales and thats AFTER two regular sales have gone by :mad:. So I d pretty much have to waaaaait very long for these along with the Animated Safeguard Tf to show up. But in a way is alright as my pocket is burnt out due to the holidays..... it can wait. Bills can't

SE OP, is actually a step back (in terms of paint applications on the legs):

The new one is seriously lacking the silver + gun metal paints found on the old one... :p

I don't miss the yellow on forehead or the white circles on knees though. :D

Managed to get my SE Prime and Megs from Toyworld for $30.00 a piece. I quite like prime in bot form- not keen on his alt mode really. Havent had a chance to examine Megs close up yet.

why is the retail price quoted by Hasbro at $34.99 different to what TRU $40.00 /Kmart $38.00 are charging us?

I saw some a Kmart but at $38 there still pretty meh for a soso repaint, I'd rather wait and hope for a sale, or save the money to pay of a Henkei.

I think, at least for K-mart, it is so they can reduce the price down through sales like they do in general.

For TRU it is probably just because they want to rip us off
lol

something that was weird was that at TK the condition of the uiverse SE boxes have lots of white marks that look unappealing, i guess comes from the staff manhandling the toys, while at Kmart with tonnes of hungry hands touching the toys, the boxes are in relatively good condition without lines marks all over the boxes...

I'm just glad the new Megatron has his feet assembled the right way around this time!

I saw these at my local TRU and had a gander. Wasn't all that interested in Prime as I don't like the toy that much, but had a passing interest in Dragstrip and Overkill.

Then I checked the price on a scanner.

$50!

Lost interest quickly after that.

Hasbro price is 'recommended', or at least, estimated from what stores *should be* marking up to, from their wholesale price. Hasbro said they can't legally force a retailer to sell at a certain price, which would probably be something to do with whatever the anti-competition laws are, which cover suppliers and retailers.

None at TRU....

I decided to pick up Dragstrip since I don't have that mold already. He is pricey but I think he was the only one worth it, since Prime and Megz aren't that interesting and I already have Classics grimlock.

How much did you pay for it? I found one today for $39.95, four cents cheaper than Toys R Us... (-_-) I still cannot justify paying basically forty bucks for a Deluxe (and a repaint to boot). I can see how not having Mirage would make it more enticing though - it is a sweet mould. :)

NoenGaruth
26th December 2008, 09:46 PM
Yeah i paid the Toys R' Us 39.99, pretty steep but he just looked so nice :p

...still, he's a lot cheaper than Henkei Wildrider XD

GoktimusPrime
27th December 2008, 06:20 PM
Gentei Wildrider is a convention exclusive. Universe Drag Strip is not ... although in Sydney they're almost like a TRU exclusive - I've only seen them in two stores outside of TRU and nobody is charging regular deluxe prices for them. (-_-)
