Milestones

Well with the acquisition of this special guy from jgon (thanks:)) about a week ago I've realised that I've reached a milestone and completed the goal of my collection for this year (which was stated in the 2007 wrap started by Griffin nearly a year ago).
That was to get all Tf's up to and including 1986. Although I am cheating in that I count my first (of two) Ruinations as Bruticus and I don't have mailaway Cardasher. But hell...close enough is good enough for me.

Anyway after I got Fort Max and all the effort associated with him, no milestone has been able to match in significance.

Now I just collect and go after Holy grails. The latest Holy Grail for me is Carnivac.

My G1 1984-86 collection is only complete in terms of cartoon characters.
My main priority from this era would be the Deluxe Insecticons. Second priority from that would be the Mini-Spies. I'd like to get Time Warrior but I doubt I'd ever find it for a price that I'd be willing to pay :p (so I'll have to work on convincing griffin to give me his :D <jedi.mind.trick>).

Other stuff from that era that I don't have but are low priority for me would be:
+ Mini-Spies
+ My First Transformer (car)

...and there's some other stuff from that era that I don't really care about, like Latin-American Transformers, Tyco cars etc. Meh.

My current holy grail is finding an Animated Blitzwing that doesn't have either a busted wing-peg or brittle canopy tabs. I'm on my fourth Animated Blitzwing toy so far after refunding/exchange 3 previous ones because of those defects. :(

Even a non-busted one isn't worth the effort you've been going to!

I agree... if this one turns out to have weak canopy tabs then I effing give up. I'll just never transform it fully into tank mode. *massively.deep.sigh* (-_-)

2009 goal is to complete 1987. Sure I'm 22 years behind schedule but like my wife says of her cycle, 'better late than never'.

25 to go and looking optimistic from the start. :)

1987 took me ages as well. Fort Max was the last toy from that series for me - by about 7 years.

2009 goal is to complete 1987.
I don't really have a personal "deadline" on when to complete any line of toys really. When it comes to 1987 I personally 'need' (more like want): Highbrow, Crosshairs, Autobot Clones, Punch/Counterpunch, Doublecross, Hardhead and Spike. These are all the 1987 Transformers released in Australia that I want.

The only TF from that year that wasn't released in Australia that I have are Suiken, Stepper, Soundblaster, Twincast, Targetmaster Hot Rod and Targetmaster Kup - all being reissues except for Suiken. When it comes to non-AU TFs in this year I'm not actively seeking them out but I will get them if the opportunity presents itself to me.

Milestones, mine are quite lame actually. I just wanted the 3 MP Seekers this year. I did achieve one of every alternator mold however, thanks to dirge. (I nabbed his Nemesis Prime, Roller has taken it hostage, *sigh* hehe)

I haven't tried to collect G1 because the price for me would be prohibitive, and my g1 collection is really small so my starting point is really low. I just collect vicariously thru you guys! :)

I have actually paused my G1 collection. The poor exchange rate has made many figures cost prohibitive specially when they are 'regular' G1s and not heavy hitters. I still need a few accessories but the exchange rate has also hurt that as I would be paying the cost of a retail deluxe to import just a small gun.

I was fortunate to achieved many of my 'Milestones' while the dollar was high and that was getting the expensive figures such as Fort Max, Scorponok, Trypticon and others. In that I count myself very fortunate.

Now I am concentrating on the newer releases which are not as cost prohibitive as G1 such as Universe and Henkei. Masterpieces are not exactly 'cost friendly' but because they are a single spaced out releases, they happen to be more manageable than the randomness of finding G1s on Ebay.

I have been wanting one since I saw Dirge's but I am not sure if its worth it given that I have other G1 figures to get. Its certainly the best Pretender released in G1.

MIlestones hmmm lets see.... well for me I finally nabbed for this year my big wants -
Trypticon
Omega Supreme (encore)
Thunderwing,
Bludgeon,
Carnivac and Snarler,
Finback and Iguanus to complete my decepticon monster pretenders (with some accessories missing but that can easily be remedied),
Wierdwolf and Apeface as well to complete my decepticon headmasters
Squawkbox and Grandslam - with missing accessories on the way :D
The Autobot clones
AND finally get a MAX - Brave Max, which is my preferred color scheme for the mold - all thanks to Kelvinchang99, kup, Gutsman Heavy and jgon and ebay seller therawyde:D:D. Add to that is the fact that Ive finally consolidated my collection into one Last March on my return from holidays in Phils. Also hit the 800+ mark on my collection count this year (and the year's not over yet)!

So this year has indeed been a year of milestones. With all this happening before our dollar went pfffffft, thank goodness. So prolly next year well, theres only a few G1s I am after but I got the more pricey and big ones out of the way :D:D

My grail of 15 years is currently sitting in atop some shelving, waiting for Christmas when I can "have it".

Finally got me a complete Thunderclash! :D Seller said the gunw as broken, he was only part right, the gun can no longer sit on the cab roof, but Thunderclash can hold it in either hand just fine!
Only need Skyquake to complete my Turbomaster/Predator collection.

Also got my first complete G1 combiner, even if it was a re-issue with the TFCC Seacons, I have had Menasor and Abominus for ages, but they do not have their feet, hands and chest plates.

Not looking like getting any other grails or finishing year sets anytime soon, the bad $AU has really killed off international buying, really wanted to get as many Car Robots, BWII and Neo figures as I can.

Today I hit this milestone, passing 1000 Transformers :D

My 1000th Transformer was Legends Beachcomber, which is fitting as the original Beachcomber was one of the first ever two Transformers all those many, many years ago.

While not as big a Pualbots, I hit a milestone of 100 transformers about 2 weeks ago with legends Ramjet from the Big W Aerial Rivals 5 pack. :)
I count him as the 100th because he was the 100th transformer I removed from package. :D

i hit 300 somewhere in the last month or so, which was fitting because id been collecting for a year after the start of july :D
now im culling, so back down the count goes :P
