I left out their names in the title, in case anyone thinks it is a spoiler. These two characters must be in the 3rd season, for animations to be done of them, but that doesn't guarantee toys for them though.
Presenting - Perceptor and Wheeljack!!!

...bearded Wheeljack just looks weird - I guess because even as weird as bearded Transformers are, we've never had a bearded Transformer who didn't have a mouth before. It's strange looking at that face with the beard and faceplate underneath it. It's interesting how they've coloured the top of the head white to off-set the rest of the head and also kinda looks like a safety helmet. The utility belt is... interesting.

Perceptor looks like a really bad "nerdy scientist" stereotype and I can't say I'm a fan of that... but I guess it fits in with Animated where so many of the characters are cheesy stereotypes (*sigh*). :/ ...why does a Transformer need glasses?? (o_O) The kibble on that robot is interesting - I think they've gone for an alt mode that's not a microscope. I hope the toy won't be too shellformery.

If Wheeljack came out as a toy, I'd break my non-animated toy rule again.

Wheeljack looks fantastic, and if/when the toy is made I must own one.

Was never a fan of Perceptor, and that remains the same, he looks very weedy and well...dull.

Yeah, I agree with Gok about Perceptor, looks like a nerdy scientist stereotype for sure

The less said about TFs that have a beard, the better

Chances are that his face plate will pop up in battle, like pretty much everyone else

The beard is certinally strange, but if you ignore the face area he looks very G1 ish. Perceptor also has a very strange head as well..

I'm kinda liking both of them :)

I like them both - I particularly like Wheeljack's huge moustache. I suspect one or both of the lines on his 'faceplate' is actually his mouth.

I don't mind the 'nerdy scientist' look. I think the variety of body types in Animated is something of a balm in fact. But good or bad, stereotypes often help to convey information about a character quickly without the need for lengthy exposition, and it's not actually offensive (it's just an egghead and corrective lenses). And they're probably not 'corrective' so much as some super-extra-science-view glasses. :)

Maybe Animated Perceptor is like the Doctor - he doesn't need glasses but likes to wear them just to look clever! ;) :D

Looking really good!

I'm really enjoying the designs for the Animated robot forms. The alt modes can be hit and miss but these bot forms look great. The beard does look a little odd. Not merely because its a robot with a beard but also because its over a mouthplate. Odd indeed. The utility belt is another sign that the creators are trying to really humanize the characters to try and transcend their robot origins to allow the audience to relate much easier.

Perceptor looks great as well. Would be very interested in the figures they make out of them.

Wheeljack looks like Mr T(jack):

The interesting thing will be what Perceptor transforms into. Wheeljack will probably look a bit like his Gen1 car form, but would they really have Perceptor turn into a microscope? Would a deluxe size (expected) figure that turns into something as 'boring' as a microscope be given the green light as a toy? Even Animated Soundwave got a vehicle mode, so I wonder what Perceptor will become.

Derrick Wyatt apparently said somewhere that Perceptor turns into a "tank of science". If that is what they call his alt mode on his toy package, EPIC AWESOME WIN.

Also, Wheeljack and Perceptor are totally the TFA Mythbusters. Come on, Wheeljack's face is proof enough. It'd mean that he'd be his G1 self except with an appetite for explosions.

I can see now... They're gonna blow up A LOT of things on the show...

That would be on par with Wheeljack's G1 cartoon persona. :p I hope they're not going to be "bumbling" professors (but they probably will). :/

That would actually work if it looked similar to his G1 toy's tank mode. Perceptor never used this mode in the cartoon, although in the comics he did use the tank cannon in microscope mode once against Galvatron (Target:2006). It would also make a Magnificus repaint more meaningful too (as e-Hobby marketed Magnificus' "preferred" alt mode as the tank rather than the Microscope - Gamede was the pilot for the tank).

Just saw this scan of issue 6 of the Animated comic, and am thinking that, even though it is likely that Wheeljack and Perceptor will appear in the cartoon, they (and the introduction of Jetfire and Jetstorm in that issue) could be like Oilslick and be just in the comic. I know that the animators want to have Oilslick in season 3, but with only 13 episodes to promote a whole year of toys, including several that will be out before the 3rd season has aired, there is no guarantee that every character will get some screen time in the cartoon.

BTW, Perceptor looks like a fem-bot, to me...
(the scan shows a bit of a second page, with Wheeljack using Perceptor as a microscope, so maybe it is Gen-1-ish after all)

These two are featured int he Animated comic included int he Jetfire/Jetstorm 2-pack "Rise of Safeguard." Along with a bust shot of Red Alert.

I really really hope they get John Dimaggio (he's the voice of Bender, most notably) To play Wheeljack. He'd be perfect.

I assume Jeff Glen Bennett will play Perceptor, as he seemed to be the fallback guy for a lot of voices on Transformers Animated. Kinda like a new Frank Welker.

I read somewhere that George Takei may be voicing Perceptor.

Not sure about Wheeljack, though.

Heh... the original voice for Perceptor (Paul Eiding) is a regular cast member on Ben 10 so he might be too busy to do Transformers as well. ;)
