Hot on the heels of the announcement of the new Transformers cartoon Earth Spark comes another Transformers cartoon coming to Netflix (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/02/16/transformers-botbots-cartoon-to-debut-on-netflix-in-march-450247) from March 25th - Botbots... a couple years late for the toyline, but then again, we saw the same thing with the Prime Wars Trilogy cartoon that came out after most of the toys were no longer being released.
(just noting - it was almost exactly a year ago when it was first announced (https://news.tfw2005.com/2021/02/25/netflix-to-air-transformers-botbots-animated-series-429292) that Netflix were doing a Botbots cartoon, to be 20 episodes, so this new announcement is just to let us know when it will be released)
The question is... does this mean the sixth series of toys from 2020 (and beyond) were intentionally delayed, to be released when the cartoon was ready.
Being on Netflix, we will have to wait to see if it will be on free-to-air here. The other 3 programs being noted are a mixed back, as one (Power Rangers second season) was on channel 9go slightly ahead of the US screening of the first season, but the other two shows haven't been here on free-to-air... which could just come down to how much effort the toy company (Hasbro) puts into their "advertising" is on TV as soon as possible, while Mattel (for MOTU) wasn't able to do the same for its first season.

A very short clip has been found on youtube, as part of a longer promo video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=492&v=HGf4TvF7aLs)... but it is geo-locked to North America, so I haven't been able to see it yet, however some screenshots can be seen here (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/02/23/first-look-at-the-new-netflixs-transformers-botbots-cartoon-450678).
A promo article has also let us know that there is only 10 episodes, but will be full-size 22 minute episodes (which will be 30 minutes with commercials).

A full 90 second commercial is now on youtube... and the cartoon looks like a bit of crazy fun. (and they use the classic transformation sound too)

Based on the video, the cartoon appears to follow the basic concept of the toyline, based in a shopping centre, and the story seems to center around the Lost Bots trying to find their tribe (which they have renamed "Squads" on the cartoon... maybe the word "tribe" didn't rate well with some demographics). Meanwhile, there appears to be an inept night-guard trying to catch them, because they have to hide from the humans (a bit of a cross between Toy Story and Pokemon).
I hope it doesn't remain exclusive to netflix.
Some screnshots can be seen here (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/02/25/transformers-botbots-cartoon-official-trailer-450804).

Reminds me a little more of Terry Pratchett's Nomes stories :)
And now I wish I hadn't watched that video, because it seems kinda fun, and I have too much to watch already.

The original toy commercial from about 3 years ago, which had a fairly similar story concept that the cartoon has picked up on...

As expected, new Botbots toys are coming with the new cartoon, and they were officially revealed on facebook yesterday. (https://www.facebook.com/transformers/posts/7108122682591198)
They are being called series 6, but I don't think they are exactly what we were going to get for series 6, as I remember a pirate chest and a toilet originally planned as multipacks for series 6.
A lot of new moulds here, including some animals (unless they are toy animals, that would be the first living alt-modes I think), and one turns into an Autobot symbol... which would be interesting to explain in the story universe.
There are supposed to be 75 in series six, spread across 4 tribes this time (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/03/23/new-transformers-botbots-ruckus-rally-series-6-revealed-452220)...
CUSTODIAL CREW: Mop & bucket, Overalls, Sponge; Caution Wet Floor Sign, Floor Buffer, Walkie Talkie, Toilet, Plunger, Feather Duster, Poop, Vacuum, Vomit, Toilet Brush, Latex Glove
PET MOB: Pet Collar, Goldfish, Dog Bone, Rat, Ant Farm, Dog Bowl, Snake, Guinea Pig, Cat; Cricket, Bird Cage, Poop Bag, Duck, Husky Dog
HUNGER HUBS: Roasted Turkey, French Fries, Watermelon, Grapes, Blue Nachos, Broccoli, Fried Egg, Bacon, Waffle, Rare Corn Dog, Pizza
GAMER GEEKS: Joystick, Space Ship, Jetpack; Computer Mouse, CD, Blaster, TV, 8-Bit Graphic of the Autobot icon, Computer, Game Controller, Jet vehicle & Plush Wizard, Arcade Game, Dungeons & Dragons Book.
Some of them look quite evil too, so maybe the cartoon is going to focus on good vs bad groups as well.
Over on Entertainment Earth, the various packs are now listed for preorder for September (a long wait after the cartoon is over), and they look to be selling the various packs in bundles (maybe their master cartons).
The prices sound expensive, but I can't really remember how it compares to the previous releases.
It warns you that there are duplicates (again),
Singles (https://www.entertainmentearth.com/product/transformers-botbots-ruckus-rally-series-6-collectible-singles-multipack/hsf8338) (24 packs) - us$44 (24 toys)

I don't know if it is accessible here, but the Botbots cartoon is now on Netflix, and all 10 episode titles and descriptions can be seen here (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/03/25/transformes-botbots-cartoon-now-available-on-netflix-452509).
The TFwiki page has the titles (https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Transformers:_BotBots_(cartoon)), but is only new so doesn't have the descriptions or episode specifics yet.
Each "episode" has two titles listed, so they are probably really 20 episodes, that are 11 minutes each, like with Cyberverse.
(edit - after watching the first episode on youtube below, it is indeed two 11-minute episodes)
First episode on youtube too...

Yes all ten episodes are on Netflix in Australia now.
It's pretty standard for kids shows these days to be smaller stories right? Since Adventure Time or maybe even before that? (I think Rugrats even had that format... and I was still a teenager when Rugrats came out)

I don't know what is going on with these Botbots toys, but now Entertainment Earth has a new release date as well... September 2023!!!
A year and a half after the cartoon has been and gone.
Considering the toyline was suspended a year ago before series 6 was released, it seems strange that they were not ready for the cartoon... which itself would have taken almost a year to develop.
I don't know if I can wait another 18 months for them, as we have been teased with a lot of interesting new alt-modes, and will have a lot of other new toys come out before then to distract us from remembering these until they come out. (so why spend money marketing the toys now to generate hype in them, if Hasbro will have to start all over again in a year's time)

Now that people are getting these from Amazon America and Hasbro Pulse, we have some photos of the packs and the catalogue (https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/botbots-appreciation-thread.1162375/page-434)... which should show all of Series 6 (the catalogue has 60 figures on it but the packaging has 75+ on it).
Even though online stores have been listing the four size-classes as master carton bulk lots, it is not always reliable if an outlet has unpacked the master cartons, as some people have been posting about getting duplicate single packs or multi-packs, leaving them with an incomplete set and having to chase up spares on the secondary market because they don't want to buy a second complete master carton for just one or two Botbots.
On top of this risk (of online sources not sending out sealed Master Cartons as they are supposed to), there is also the risk of them sending out a single pack instead of the full Master Carton... as I and some others in America found out the hard way, with just one Single pack sent instead of a Master Carton of 24, making it a very expensive single $5 Botbot toy costing about $140.
(the last photo here is mine, which even shows a label on the single pack that says it should have been for 24 packs... but alas, now I have to send it back, wait for a refund (and hope they don't reject the refund because I didn't send back 24 figures), and then risk ordering another set of Single Packs)

How on earth does that happen? Is it just the result of Amazon treating employees like slaves, or is there some way to honestly make that mistake?
Anyway, catalogues are still a thing?!?! There's something I miss from the 80s... And the next time I see someone complaining that a Generations deluxe is a piece of crap, I've gotta direct them to Loose Deuce :)

It happened again... I received a big box with just a single Botbot figure in it.
So the system must be telling the picker to use a big enough box for 24 toys, but the picker is only putting one in there.
Now I have to try to claim a refund again, and go through the hassle of convincing them that I only received one toy instead of 24. (I am still waiting for a refund for the first order, as I have to wait until the item is returned all the way back to America, and hope that the person who processes the refund doesn't reject it because they think that I am not sending back 24 toys.)
I really want to complete the set and Amazon is the easiest, cheapest option at the moment... but if I order it a third time before they sell out it might happen again (probably not going to happen if they are sending out a single figure). It also means that even if I did get 24 toys, it won't be a sealed master carton to guarantee a full set... it is likely to be just 24 random loose figures, possibly leaving me to then have to chase up missing figures on ebay at 10 times the price.

I think BBTS charge GST... and their shipping rates went through the roof a few years ago... but I just can't risk buying from Amazon again, so I might just have to pay the extra* (and Entertainment Earth won't restock until JAN-FEB).
*Since Amazon Australia was in au$, the price would change based on the exchange rate - my first order was au$138, while my second order was au$123 (the us$ dropped a lot that month).
The BBTS listing is us$75, which will be about au$110. Considering the size of the box needed, I would expect about $50 shipping. And then about $16 GST if they charge it.

Yes BBTS charge GST.
I had the whole wave preordered and when it dropped into my pile of loot it was a total of $375aud before GST and shipping. So I cancelled most of it because I am not paying that much for Botbots. I’ll ship what I am getting in the next few weeks. I was just hoping for that G1 style Unicron action figure thingy to come in stock before I ship.

You’ve got 7 days to cancel and get a refund, after that it’s store credit.

I am really having trouble deciding what to do for these.
Since I have all of the 5-packs, 8-packs and vehicle packs, I should already have 16 of the 24 Single packs... which means that I need to buy a full set of 24 just to get the 8 remaining toys from Series 6.
It isn't practical to just hunt down those unique 8 toys on ebay, because those are the "rare" ones that everyone else would be wanting to complete their collections, making them more expensive than buying a full set from an online source.
So if I buy from BBTS, those 8 unique toys I am missing, that should be about $5 each, will end up costing about $20-25 each (I wouldn't be able to get much for the other 16, because people collecting these are already likely to have them from the multi-packs).
And even though Amazon is cheaper and would end up being about $15 each (if they did end up sending me 24), I can't guarantee getting those 8 unique toys, because they have obviously unpacked the master cartons, so I would expect to get 24 random figures. That would then require me to pay a fortune on somewhere like ebay to buy the remaining missing $5 toys.
Meanwhile, Entertainment Earth have their Single Pack set listed for September 2023, which puts them out of the equation.
It is a gamble... do I buy from BBTS (which would be at least $50 more than Amazon) and then hear that Amazon had finally fixed up the problem... or do I try Amazon again and even if they do finally send me 24 Single Packs, I could get a lot of duplicates and miss some of the 8 that I need, resulting in me paying more than BBTS by chasing up the missing ones on ebay (I can't even find the single packs on ebay at the moment... so if I miss out on any, I may not be able to complete the set for a very long time).

Seems like a Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, type scenario.
I'd go BBTS just to be safe.
Option d) Don't have a complete collection? Though I'm sure that's probably not an option.
