As has been rumoured for months now, this year's Titan is Cybertron Metroplex and he has been fully revealed now.

He's not something I'm interested in, but I'm sure some of us are.

Looks good and I'm glad to see some Cybertron/Galaxy Force love heading our way, but a bit too obscure for my tastes. It's nice to see the improved work mode as well as it being a very pose-able big bot. However, I think the market for this guy will be pretty small.
But you know, good on Hasbro for trying some other characters!, I fully support this.

I love the concept, and the improved worker mode looks great. In fact there are a lot of things to like about it - improved excavator mode, a worker mode that looks distinct from the robot mode and not just a half-transformation, way the axe splits, increased articulation, a size that matches the scale of the character from the cartoon.

But it's too similar to my existing Cybertron Metroplex to want to double dip, similar to why I didn't pick up Siege Galaxy Optimus Prime.

I think I will have to see what others have to say of it when they have it in hand, but I'm glad they are doing this sort of thing - I see the occasional younger fan video channel and they are very excited by it.

Well, I'm glad I won't need to make space for a new titan this year. I hope the fans of Cybertron are happy. :)

As a Cybertron Fan, I would love to add him to my collection, but the price atm seems a bit too unreasonable. Apparently he's gonna cost more that Victory Saber?

Update: EB/Zing does have him for pre-order (https://www.zingpopculture.com.au/product/toys-gadgets/283234-transformers-generations-legacy-series-titan-cybertron-universe-metroplex-figure), being $20 cheaper than Victory Saber, but still pretty expensive.

Damn... that is expensive, Black Zarak was cheaper. I will wait until it is on clearance... then maybe I will buy it... maybe

The RRP in the US has gone up to us$200, from us$179 for the last three Titans... so the price rise was bound to be be passed on here, even if it wasn't at EB/Zing.

The main retail price for Titans here in the last few years has been $300, so it wouldn't surprise me if this was $350 at most places here that will be wanting it.

Gosh that vehicle mode is rough.

Yup, Pass.

No interest at all. Happy for the AEC fans.

I mean honestly, Legacy as a concept is a thing, however I'd rather they go hard at finishing G1 and then start doing whatever figure from whatever line.

Another $99 flash sale on Amazon should do the trick

Ah damn. That actually looks kinda interesting, especially the way it compresses for the secondary bot mode. A little tempted now, and I don't really want AEC stuff.

I suppose I could aways wait to see if Amazon clears it out the way the Ark is being cleared out, but knowing my luck that's probably the best way to guarantee steady sales and a missed toy :)

I'm surprised there are not more people that want this. I hope it doesn't discourage Hasbro from doing more Titans. I still want a Monstructor and Metrotitan in Titan scale.

It's just too much for a figure that essentially bends over to transform and doesn't have the gimmicks the original did.

I think you'll find that there a quite a few people that will pick it up once it is available at a discounted price.

A very nice looking big robot - but an alt-mode that's still as boring as the original. Yes it's a real machine. Saw some people speculating about making a fan mode base out of it.

I recall leaving work early to pick up the original in the midyear Big W sale many years ago now!

JJJ

Huh. Gotta say I don't really find the alt-mode boring. Giant ripping machine on crawler treads. Sounds like the sort of huge and unstoppable behemoth you turn loose on the Decepticon positions.

It doesn't exactly go swoosh, but certainly fills a narrative gap in the range of toys, and there's nothing else like it.

... and I may be convicing myself even more about buying the thing. Blast.

I'm tempted to buy this thing in the hopes that Hasbro starts making more UT stuff outside of the occasional repaint/retool. But from what we've seen, it really doesn't do enough to justify the price mark up, let alone the usual titan pricing. Man...

I keep checking Amazon Australia, but it still hasn't been listed yet. It was up on Amazon America the same day (https://www.amazon.com/Transformers-Generations-Cybertron-Universe-Metroplex/dp/B09H14LP4G/) for us$200, and it gives the option of shipping to Australia (us$60).. but it would be cheaper to get it from EBGames!!!

Like the art on the box, inferno is coming!!!!

That was the first thing I saw on the box... and it is so tiny. It is good to see that the final season 1 cartoon character is getting a toy. I don't know if any of the leaks have mentioned Transmetals or Fuzors coming?

My thoughts exactly. I would have liked to see a more 'reimagined' alt mode but I am still happy that we are getting a Metroplex 'Perfect Edition'.

Holding out on the pre-order but I think I'll nab him. Yeah, the alt mode could have been re-imagined or designed better, but both robot modes look cool.

Personally I just wish he came with more?? Blast effects or something to warrant it?

I haven't been able to find an answer - is this a re-issue of the original figure, or a new figure based on that older figure?

New, based on older figure but seemingly missing mini-con and cyber key. Much bigger, 22 inches.

For context, I saw an image that advertised that the original could extend to 12 inches

Well done Hasbro... the one time a redeco would have been better than a new mould.

They could have done Metrotitan from Metroplex or a Guardian Robot from Omega Supreme... but instead they did such a good job of homaging one of the most disappointingly engineered toys from the Cybertron toyline (a bigger toy should NOT be more simplistic with its alt-mode (https://tfwiki.net/wiki/File:Cyb_Metroplex_toy.jpg)), that they homaged that simplistic alt-mode of a robot on its back in a fetal position. (and the two robot modes basically involve turning the toy around and folding up the legs a little)

After 16 years, Hasbro still just couldn't figure out a way of making it look less like a robot in excavator mode.
This toy has less engineering than a $10 scout/core class toy, and not only that, but this toy is at the new higher price point for Titans (an extra us$20 in America and an expected au$50 increase in Australia).

I can see this toy shelfwarming heavily... which is probably good for those wanting one, as it shouldn't sell out, and will probably be discounted quite heavily.

The product details from the Hasbro Pulse listing (https://hasbropulse.com/products/transformers-generations-legacy-series-titan-cybertron-universe-metroplex) for November at us$200...

Presumably someone in the Hasbro PR department deleted some words, because based on the pictures this takes more than just one step!

"CONVERT TO WORK MODE: Convert this Cybertron Universe Metroplex Transformers action figure to work mode by flipping down the toy’s welding mask in robot mode"

The mask is also called out on the line before!

I don't like the figure at all, however I'm not sure I agree that Titan class automatically means the figure needs to be more complex.

Now that Metroplex is out in America and Asia, some of the first in-hand pics have surfaced (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/07/21/transformers-legacy-titan-class-cybertron-universe-metroplex-in-hand-images-461211).

This could mean that it could show up here soon... but Amazon Australia has a release date, so they will stick to it unless told otherwise by Hasbro Australia.
