Official images for two new Studio Series toys have been released by an online store, so if Hasbro are doing a "Transformers Tuesday" this week, these might be officially released in the next few hours.

SS-89 is Voyager Thundercracker from the Bumblebee Movie - a blue redeco of SS-72 Starscream.

SS-90 is Voyager Galvatron from Age of Extinction - a new mould, and below is an image of the original Galvatron toy, showing how much of an improvement this new one is.

(it was understandable if they were to skip the number SS-86 so that it wasn't confusing with the growing range of SS-86 toys, but we are also missing SS-87 and SS-88)

Hasbro designer Sam Smith on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/king_samlock/) has been posting up more images and turnarounds for SS-90 Galvatron... which, as you could see above is a great improvement on the 2014 AOE toy, but still fails to have the hole in the chest go all the way through. It has the sculpting on the back and front, but a panel in the middle looks to get in the way, and they weren't able to work out a way of having it separate enough to give this toy the screen accurate hole that is even mentioned on-screen by the humans building it.
It also has the flaw in truck mode of having the giant feet sticking up out the back, spoiling how well they got the front cab to look.

One of the Hasbro designers has posted up on instagram (https://www.instagram.com/king_samlock/) quite a few in-hand images of Thundercracker (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/05/11/transformers-studio-series-ss-89-bumblebee-movie-thundercracker-in-hand-images-455834) (from the Bumblebee movie) with the first two uses of the mould - Starscream and Thrust.

The colours look really nice, but I think the jet mode still looks too kibblish.

From one of the designers on instagram (https://www.instagram.com/p/CeWB8GAu_A3/), some information about the new parts on SS86-16 Arcee, and some comparison photos.

I probably should of done this when pre-orders popped up but I wanted to show off our Studio Series 86 Arcee.

This figure is a partial of the T30 Arcee (as you all have guessed) and there are no earthrise parts present.

(Please excuse the sample that had the factory stamps on it. Final product will not have those.)

We had a limited budget for new parts and I wanted to get an 86 Arcee in the line so I asked Takara "I don't think we have enough parts to make the earthrise Arcee look like an 86 Arcee. How would the Takara team feel if we used the T30 Arcee as a base?" And that's what we did.

This marvelous feat of engineering is brought to you by Yuki san who blew it out of the park.

I'm going to keep this short since I'll do a more thorough design breakdown later but I just wanted to show off how much character you can get with her articulation.

She has a New head, forearms, torso, legs and the rear of the car.

Her transformation even gives her an Ab crunch that really helps with her posing.

Also she has a Gerwalker mode!

Haha, I hope you all enjoy this figure and thanks for supporting the SS86 line!

After seeing some new pics of SS86 Arcee, it has pushed me over the line to preorder. I think this one will push the T30 Arcee out from my 88 movie collection.

I'll wait till SS86 Arcee drops in price, will get her for the better vehicle mode and keep Earthrise Arcee for bot mode.

From one of the leakers comes images of the Studio Series 1986 Arcee (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/06/11/transformers-studio-series-86-arcee-in-hand-images-458333), comparing it to the original version of the mould from 2014, and the Kingdom Arcee as well as the Cyberverse Deluxe Arcee.
This gives us a good look at the new parts, such as much thinner thighs, new panelling at the back of the vehicle mode to hide the legs, and the new waist joint.

Wheely good news for the Studio Series line (SPOILER ALERT (https://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/first-look-at-studio-series-86-wheelie/47049/))

Iiiiinteresting. I've been wondering about this one since it leaked. On the one hand, I want all the toys (modern versions of the 80s stuff). On the other hand, I want deluxe and up (both for quality and scale). Hasbro legends scale failed for me, which is why I don't have a Gears, Windcharger, or Brawn. Core Iguanus kinda worked (but really does need the filler set that costs more than the basic toy), but even then only if I take the JG1 approach to pretenders (which is just fine by me, the US pretender concept is simply stupid in my opinion).

Still not certain about this one. Doesn't look entirely dire (the poor picture doesn't help), but will definitely require fillers. A definite maybe :P

Diaclone Blue Trailbreaker looks like it's coming.

https://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/transformers-generations-selects-dk3-aka-blue-diaclone-trailbreaker-possibly-revealed/47051/

Good to see the leak confirmed. Was starting to wonder. Another tick down :) Just so long as it does get released beyond SDCC (exclusives must die in a ditch).

Further (https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/core-class-86-wheelie.1234778/page-10#post-20418637) and much better (https://tieba.baidu.com/p/7922802465?pn=1) pictures of Wheelie are now floating about.

That'll do it - I suspect we're not going to get a deluxe Wheelie (because the character was depicted just over human-sized), so core class it is.

Not that I have any dog in this race, but to me the vehicle mode looks unfinished. Instead of the front being smooth it just zig zags as if something is meant to clip over it, and comparing it to the animation model it is clearly not long enough.
I wonder if there was meant to be a shield piece that clips over the front of the vehicle which was either removed for budget reasons or the leaker simply doesn't have it.

Same, i wasn't going to get it anyway, but SS86 Wheelie altmode looks like a 3rd party prototype. That front hood looks nothing like the animation model. Hopefully, the leaker mis-transformed it.

I thought similar actually. It looks like one of those 3D-printed fan-made things you see from time to time.

That's a terrible result. Bumblebee has been depicted as just over human size and we got a nice deluxe of him.

I'd be terribly upset if we didn't get a deluxe of Wheelie. As it stands, the TR Wheelie is loads better.

Also, in the news department, further leaks in relation to Pointblank and Skullgrin. The big news being Pointblank will have a Targetmaster and Skullgrin is deluxe sized.

I have moved some posts to here that are of three upcoming Core Class Studio Series toys - Wheelie, Laserbeak (pink Bumblebee), and Ratchet.
I think that they would be the next wave of Core Class, which would mean that they would be coming out around September with the Voyagers and Deluxe figures listed in the first few posts of this topic.

From a facebook page for a UK online store (https://www.facebook.com/indemandtoys/posts/3229977480579481), the official images for Laserbeak and Ratchet...

And the Wheelie image floating around online from an unknown source...

http://www.toycollectors.com.au/news/2022/071401.jpg

Those in-hand images of Wheelie (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/07/14/transformers-studio-series-86-core-class-wheelie-new-images-460653) referred to in earlier posts makes me think that there must be something attached to the front of the vehicle mode... or at least should have had something there if that is the completed toy.
(and it seems way too quick to be doing a third Wheelie toy in just four years, considering that it isn't an iconic character... or even a liked character - the Jar Jar Binks of the Transformers universe)

All these small sized Movie Bumblebee toys are starting to look the same... :p

I'm sure this is a new mould, because Core class is bigger than Legends, but I don't know why they would release it as "Laserbeak" first, considering how obscure it is from the movies... being on screen for about 10 seconds (and its appearance in the movie didn't make sense, other than it was to save money by not having to create a completely new CGI figure for that short scene).

I guess the disguise was so the little girl would think it was the real bumblebee who wanted to have tea with her. You could ask “why wouldn’t she suspect anything, since bumblebee is much bigger, and yellow not pink”, but there are a couple of theories:
1. She probably thought it was Bumblebee as in her mind, the shape matters, not the size or colour
2. If it looked like Bumblebee, she probably assumes it’s friendly no matter what.

Ratchet looks neat but without Ironhide, Brawn and Prowl at that size, what's the point? I'm sure a voyager SS86 Ratchet/Ironhide would sell like hotcakes, considering even the Siege Ironhide commands a hefty price now, mostly I suspect because of overhyping that seems to have run rampant with the TF aftermarket these days. Options are a good thing.

I'm still quite satisfied with my TR Wheelie, so I think I'll pass on the SS86 Core Class figure (especially considering that they're the *same* price).

Might grab Laserbeak. I wouldn't mind seeing them release more Core Class Laserbeaks in all of his various alt modes from the movie (TV screen, photocopier etc.).

griffin

I can probably understand why Hasbro "needed" a Core Class for Studio Series if it helped keep the line more interesting to the Retailers who are not keen on the Leader class or Voyager class (Kmart doesn't stock the Leader class, and both Target and BigW are not regularly stocking the larger 2 size classes because they don't sell as well).... so having a new smaller size class to pair up with the more popular Deluxe class gives Hasbro a better range or package to pitch to Retailers.

Then they have the problem of deciding what to fill that size class with - how many different toys needed for the year, and what sort of characters that are recognisable enough and make sense (the alt-mode and the size compared to the rest of the SS toyline).
So far they are a bit hit-n-miss, as Ravage, Wheelie and Spike were the right scale to the existing toyline, but Shockwave and Ratchet are the wrong scale... and personally, don't/won't display well with the rest of the shelf.
Even though there are a number of easy small-size characters that they could do for the Core class, quite a few transform into cassettes... and having too many of them wouldn't sell well to Retailers. I would also like to have Daniel in a transforming exosuit, but that might be a while if that were to happen, so that the Spike figure is long gone from shelves first.

To be honest, I think that the Core Class should have been a home for Minibots (in both Legacy and Studio Series), so that they are in scale with all those Deluxe sized Autobot cars we've been getting in the last few years, instead of the Minibots in recent years that are sold as Deluxes but are smaller (less value) or too large in comparison to the other Gen1 homages.

I know it's not strictly "deluxe" size, however this new minibot scale has been my favourite innovation since Siege. I get that it's not value either, although arguments can be made about that but that scale fits certain characters perfectly while also being able to retain the extra engineering that we all love.

As for minibots that are too large, I assume you mean Warpath? Well he was always supposed to be large in my opinion :)

Core class Wheelie and Ratchet found in Asia (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/07/29/transformers-studio-series-core-class-wheelie-in-hand-images-462320)... and we have more in-hand images of Wheelie, confirming that the front is indeed designed to look like it is missing something... which makes it look really bad. I'm so disappointed, as the colours and styling makes it look nice in robot mode, but the vehicle mode is just shocking... both front and back.
