Meanwhile and for some fun... From looking at the new release Legacy and Studio Series toys found at Target, Kmart, Big W, Toymate and JB Hi-Fi, (not sure about Toyworld), I put together a speculative list of what might be available at Big W in June/July. I think Legacy will be released as part of a "Promotional Price" event. Also, looking back at the 2021 and 2020 sales, I made guesses as to what the discounts might be. Let's see if any of this plays out.

Honestly, the price (and possible "lost" savings from the sale) just doesn't really matter to me. I'm now five toys heavier, and four toys closer to having all I want. The spare change I would save by waiting a month (I make it $26 based on the guesses above and what I bought today) is easily worth spending now in having the toys now. "Time is money" is terribly cliche, but also quite true.

Also, I very distinctly recall my experience with last year's big Big W sale, where my local Big W pulled stock on sale off the shelves at the start of the sale, and then returned them after it finished.

Griffin is right about waiting on Motormaster. If it doesn't go on sale at Toy Mania, it will end up like Rodimus and Sky Lynx which were available for another 6-12 months at bargain prices. I've seen SO many Rodimuses shelf warm at Myer and Toymate for months now. Target may well get these too, and on sale.

Yes and No.
Bulletproof Villian (Australian based eTailer) also have it up for preorder for a 28/12 release in line with the rest of the world, so the "only at Big W" part is just them generating a false sense of urgency.

Big W would have an agreement with Hasbro to be the only retailer in Australia to be able to sell it this early.

Once the timed agreement has lapsed, you'll easily be able.to pick it up from Amazon for $80-$90 just like Jetfire, Rodimus Prime etc

Big W Mildura has made no move toward the toy sale (at least with regard to Transformers - there are plenty of new stuffed displays just waiting for signs, and the regular shelves are brim-full of new items, including Marvel toys for the next film that's still a month away).

No Legacy stock of any sort. Still a shelf full of old stock (Kingdom, Cyberverse, Studio Series) that's mostly been there for a year or more now, and is now crammed any which way into half the space it had a couple of months back.

The only new stock was SS86 Starscream.

It will indeed be interesting to see what is available on the 16th...


Oooh, oooh, forgot, there is one thing - a large note, two copies of, to the effect that they made a whoopsie in the catalogue by calling leaders deluxes.

This will be a fun little game - watching stock sell out. So far several stores in QLD, NSW, SA and VIC are out of stock and I just noticed the delivery option has turned red X for me in Perth. People who missed out on Motormaster... don't jump on the scalpers just yet... as the product page says "If this product is not available to add to cart, we have sold out of our online launch stock. More stock will be available in store on Thursday 16th June."
For all we know, each store only released 2 or 3 units of their 10-20 units for the online pre-sale... and on Thursday we could see a large number of units put out on shelf (and online).
So in two days time, check the store listings again, to see which stores near you have added into inventory the rest of their allocation... from which you can order online for click-n-collect or delivery, or go to the store in person.

I picked mine up. Damn, the torso of Menasor is unintuitive. I actually had to use instructions on him. That's only the second time in about 3 years I've needed instructions on a Generations toy. I usually only break out instructions for MPs.

Now I need to wait for Motormaster to go on clearance like Rodimus and Skylynx both did to pick up a second one to display as Motormaster since this guy is going to be Menasor.

That's good that they give you 10 days to get it, so that you can be sure that you get one and not waste a long trip, or miss out on the cheap price because the scalpers got them all.


The generous returns scheme at BigW benefits scalpers, as there is no risk for them to snap up lots of items if they can easily return them if they don't sell them... all to create a market of short-supply and desperate demand.
BigW are signing up to these exclusive items to get collectors into their stores, but end up being the target of their aggression because they have set up a system that works against the collectors from having an easy or best chance at those items. And ultimately, if certain items are returned in bulk by scalpers because they couldn't sell them, it bulks out the BigW inventory after the sale, and they may not want to bother with that Brand for the next toy sale.

What annoys me is seeing them on a pallet at my local before the sale, being informed no they wont scan and will be held til 16th. On the 16th some people saying they have got them off the shelves,and the nearest click and collect is 45+ min drive, so I go local assured no, not putting them out. There yesterday and assured not putting them out, go there 8am this morning, quiet store, only a few pensioners outside, go in and what? they're sold out?

I idly checked the Big W site before going to bed last night, and lo and behold it finally said that Mildura had stock. So I placed an order for pickup, figuring it was easier that way than hoping they didn't sell out before I could get there today to grab one off the shelf.

I've just received a call to say that they never even received any stock on the truck...

This is the second time I've had an on-line order refunded like this, and I've only ever placed 2. Don't think I care to try a third time now.

disappointed by the complete lack of non-leader legacy at the Big W I went to this morning (at opening time). They'd vastly reduced shelfspace last time I went in before the sale, and I doubt there was ever any deluxes or voyagers on that cramped shelfspace. No Motormaster either of course, but while I would've picked them up if I saw them I'm not chasing them around like I did with Rodimus (only to get it from Amazon anyway). But I didn't think Bulkhead would be just as scarce. Extra help from the online random assortment.

They'll be around later of course, I just would've loved to get the whole wave on layby with some Lego and stuff.

Same story here. Big W at a major metropolitan shopping complex at opening time. No Legacy Deluxe, Voyager or Commander class. According to staff, they never received the stock. No units on order either. Poor effort.

Went into BigW Warnbro and looked for MM. Found about 5 there and picked one up and went to laybuy and boy was I not happy. I waited over 30mins and then when I got there, I found that BigW has increased their laybuy fee from $5 to $15 :mad:

So I had MM in hand but I am not that desperate to pay $15 to hold it for a month before I pay it off.

Its pretty crap too because there was nothing saying about the increase and the staff never said anything about the layby charge so all those people going in with hundreds of dollars worth of items going onto layby and not noticing the $15 charge.

I see there is a $20 cancellation fee as well so they can make $35 without people noticing it at all.

To those who missed out on the online order, please please please please please please do NOT feed the scalpers. It digusts me to think that many of these toys were bought by scalpers instead of going straight into the hands of fair dinkum collectors, but buying from them only encourages this practice. Let the scalpers sit on these toy. As Sinnertwin has pointed out before, we will see subsequent stock appear later, especially in other stores like ToyMate etc. - just as with Sky Lynx and Rodimus Prime. I would recommend being patient. These scalpers may be forced to lower their prices once the toys hit other stores and they realise that they're being outcompeted.

Picked up a Motormaster today. No online order, no click order, just visited the shop late afternoon. I have noticed no legacy deluxes or voyagers. Leaders are plentiful at my local, with Studio Series and Legacy. A couple of days ago there was a Studio Series Ironhide, but no restocking of that wave just yet. I still see a lot of Kup and Blurr. Heaps of Studio Series Sweeps.

Not sure if there is a topic for this, still learning the site. Just a heads up, I noticed when transforming Motormaster into his robot mode, had trouble getting his right shoulder to lock in, had to apply slight upward pressure to get it in and it sticks well after that. Was worried about cracking the hinge but seems fine(re-did it a few times to be sure). Just thought I'd say something in case others have a similar issue.

Apparently some have experienced yellowing with Motormaster right out of the box.

I was thinking the other day while looking at my vintage release Wolfang, since we're still getting Best Wars releases in Legacy just with new robot heads and paint apps, I'd like to see Tigatron retooled slightly to make a new Wolfang. The leg transformation is already mostly the same, just news a new robot head and retool the head into a wolf head and the tail to be thicker etc; Doesn't need to match the transformation exactly though would be nice if they can manage the wolf head to split.

I was tempted to re-order my 2 Motormasters and return the originals, but it only works out to be $3.22 savings for each... not worth the effort.

Being in Gladstone, you probably don't have as much collector/scalper demand or competition. That might be a good thing, but it could also mean less items being sent to your local stores if the demand is lower... and you end up missing out on things completely.

I ordered 2 from website on the Tue the sale started. I’m a bit regional so I don’t think we have a scalper problem here.

Big W Mildura finally got some Motormasters in. There were 6 this evening (now 5). Mine does not have the discolouration issue - have a look at the batch numbers here (https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/the-ongoing-legacy-motormaster-batch-number-documentation.1233489) before you grab yours.

Galvatron seems to be moving, and Laser Prime isn't. There were three of each on the weekend; now there's only one Galvatron left, and the only Prime to move is the one I grabbed.

What a funny turn of events, to go from seemingly free for all in store to an online only. I do wonder if returns due to the plastic defects have impacted it, though I presume Big W doesn't care about a comparatively small item in their big stocklist.

I just found the Transformers Monopoly game on there, added midway through the sale, for $29 (save $10).

I hope they end up getting the Beast Wars edition as well, as it would be a lot cheaper and easier than the online source it has shown up at so far.
